Almost every event I've taken my children to has some variation of the same kids' activities: coloring on tons of white paper, and collecting free pencil sharpeners, toys, keychains and other small non-recycleable junk that was made in China. Why is that?
Well, it's probably because most kids like to color and collect special things that fit in their hands! SO... here are a couple of the variations on coloring and collecting we will do at the Great GREEN Family Festival!
There WILL be a coloring area in the park, but it will be completely paperless! In fact, our coloring area IS the park! The Fruit and Spice Park is welcoming the idea of kids and families making chalk art all over their paved walkways throughout the event! Imagine the "yellow brick road" transformed into a yellow and pink and blue and purple and GREEN path to expression and imagination!
And we WILL provide them with something special to carry in their little hands! A local organic farm has offered to provide organic fruit and vegetable seeds for children to plant in starter pots made from toilet paper tubes! They can plant it themselves, carry it home, plant the entire biodegradable thing in their garden and in a month or so, enjoy the experience of reaping what they've sewn!

The Redland Evening Herb Society and the Fruit and Spice Park are co-sponsoring a new event, the Great GREEN Family Festival, on November 15 and 16, 2008! We'd love for you to join us!
This 2-day event will raise awareness of simple, green-living practices, products and services that local families can put into use in their homes and community. We will host 50 to 100 local, sustainable, and environmentally responsible vendors and exhibitors featuring a Local & Organic Farmer's Market, Culinary Plants & Natural Foods, Natural Baby and Family Products, Alternative Vehicles & Fuels. Renewable Energy, Natural Health and Beauty Care, Medicinal Herbs, Oils, & Teas, Environmental Education & Art Exhibits, Fair Trade and Conscious Consumerism, Entertainment and Children's Activities.
As the premier green event in Miami-Dade county, we anticipate an attendance of five to ten thousand people. We are currently partnering with sponsors who contribute to the health and vitality of the community they serve. We have sponsorship available in the following categories: Silver Sponsor $1000, Gold Sponsor $2500, and GREEN Sponsor $5000 .
If you are interested in being a vendor or exhibitor, send me a message and I'll add you to our list! Vendor agreements should go out about 3 months before the event.
Let's make the Great GREEN Family Festival a big success in it's first year! Contact me directly for more information or to get involved! Thank you,
