Your friends and mine, Montreal's venerable duo Tunderheist, have released their debut 12" on Bigfoot (cheah!!!) Records. Remixes by Wicked Lester, Ghislain Poirier, me. so buy it. Review from www.TurntableLab.com :

Canada's got a hip new duo named Thunderheist. Stop me if you've heard of them before, but unless you're up on hype music blogs or a Canadian party junkie, they're probably new to you. The duo consists of this dude Graham on beats and the charismatic Isis on the mic, and together they rip. They bring the thunder. "Bubblegum(1)" is their first 12" and fits perfectly into a Sat. night hype set, so get them DRUNK when you drop this. Club calls, hip hop lines, and electro dance madness are all over this, under the theme of "Bubblegum" music. Not only that, you got our man Wax Romeo(2) bringing his disco boogie style into the remix, the manic beats of the Ghislain Poirier remix(3) and the electro stylings of the Wicked Lester remix(4). Shimmy, shimmy ya'll... they might go pop.

Some new records out again. This time on Homebreakin' Records. The first on is by your best pal and mine, Neighbour, and the second is a collabo of me and him, under Neighbourhood Romeo.

you can get them at:

www.beatstreet.ca
www.fatcity.co.uk
www.phonica.com
www.juno.co.uk
www.piccadillyrecords.com
www.soulseduction.com
www.turntablelab.com

here's a couple reviews from piccadilly in the UK:

Neighbour - Who's Knockin EP:
-----------------------------------------------

A new label and with brilliant new music. Think of the Wax Romeo*** releases we have had recently which have sold really well. Here we have a combination of wicked Kort Knox Five style breaks, with some nods to an Electric Chair style disco funk. Full of live instrumentation and packed with soul this EP will rock many a dancefloor.

Lurkers and Loaches EP:
-----------------------------------------------
Another corker of an EP from this mysterious crew, packed full of beats which will satisfy many dancefloors. Going from a looped disco feel of Mayo Fingers to a modern electronic boogie of Four Girls to the more funk orientated Smoking Doors to the big band Mambo feel of Mambo Santamaria,s this is another excellent EP which no doubt sell by the bucket load here. Grab one while you can!

Here's a nice one from one of my favourite stores:

Midtempo DJs lookout for the Bigfoot label which has been coming on strong recently. This is the label's first release from Wax Romeo and it's quality one through four. "Hey Kids(1)" is an instantly gratifying piece of funk breaks, check that gigantic, gully bass play. "Mojito(2)" is a big bouncy latin-beats track, listen for when the beat drops. "White People Love Butter Chicken(3)" is an inventive title and aptly reflects this creative break track that incorporates soul samples, southern piano licks, and bunch of other well-executed samples. This track really separates Wax Romeo from the kids. Wax takes a flier on "Hair of a Dog(4)," an odd mix of junkyard funk samples and a huge 1-2 beat. Get the crowd drunk and lathered before dropping this particular track. Overall, a smashing debut. Getting play by Fort Knox, AGFA, and The Rub.

so...that's nice.
