TLL is happy to announce a weekly dose of literary
dyke drama every Tuesday on TLL called
Midtown. Midtown will be an
ongoing "lesopera" written by Alix from A Brown Girl
fame. So make sure to bookmark this site, mark your calendars, and
visit TLL every Tuesday for a brand new installment of Midtown. Read
more about Alix and what to expect starting this Tuesday below.

Words are a big part of my world. Writing has been a part of my life
since I learned my way around sentence structure. With all of that
proper stuff mastered and forgotten, I write a personal blog, A Brown Girl, and a little fiction.

I came up with the idea of Midtown about a year ago. The story takes
place in Atlanta, GA. A city I often refer to as the gayest city in the
south. Close to downtown, Midtown is the part of the city where you
will see rainbow flags hanging off every other house, bars advertising
drag shows and an over abundance of same sex couples holding hands
while walking down the street. Every event that is worth being tagged
LGBT happens in Midtown.

The perfect setting to a story about lesbians, right? Add an
intimate circle of friends, cheating girlfriends, and friends that
become lovers and you will have enough dyke drama to keep you
entertained every Tuesday on TLL.Click here to visit Midtown

TLL has been around since 2004 and we pride ourselves on having over 250 registered authors and over 800 posts that contain the stories of our lives. In 2009 TLL added more categories and a new and improved nomination and voting system. The new TLL Awards have been renamed The Lezzys. The Lezzys were created to bring attention to the lesbian blogging community. The awards have been a great way to spotlight the best of the best in lesbian blogs and to learn about new blogs written by lesbian authors.

It was a hard task to find sponsors to donate prizes this year. I can't blame most, as the economy is not what it used to be. I would like to take this time to give an extra special thank you to those companies that did donate to the awards. The donations and those that made the donations are listed below. Every one deserves the right to love. Everyone deserves the right to marry. I don't want your religious approval, just your agreement that I should have the same rights to marry as a straight couple. Due to my strong opinions on the matter and my involvement with The Lesbian Lifestyle I am happy to be a part of the 8against8 campaign.

Join me today by educating yourself on your states laws and voice your opinions. Visit 8against8.com and make a donation. Every dollar counts. Every story matters. Learen more about the cause below.

On October 20, 2008, eight influential lesbian bloggers launched 8 Against 8, an eight-day collaborative online fundraising drive to defeat Proposition 8, a ballot initiative that seeks to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry in the State of California. The bloggers would like to enlist the help of the media in promoting their cause. The bloggers' 8 Against 8 campaign donation page is located at the following URL: www.8against8.com. The bloggers include Pam Spaulding of www.pamshouseblend.com, Dorothy Snarker of
dorothysurrenders.blogspot.com, Grace Chu and Grace Rosen of www.gracethespot.com, Lori Hahn of www.hahnathome.com, Kelly Leszczynski of www.thelesbianlifestyle.com, Sinclair of www.sugarbutch.net, Riese of marielynbernard.blogspot.com , and Renee Gannon of www.lesbiatopia.com.

The idea came about last Friday when Grace Chu of www.gracethespot.com logged onto Facebook and saw a few of her Facebook contacts openly campaigning for the passage of Proposition 8 via their status updates. "My initial reaction was to delete them from my Facebook contacts, because if you're actively campaigning against my rights, you're not my friend," she said. "It totally ruined my morning." But instead of deleting her contacts, Chu decided to channel the power of the blogosphere to drive much-needed funds into the coffers of Equality California, the umbrella organization of the No on 8
campaign. Over the weekend, Chu assembled eight prominent lesbian bloggers to help get the word out and fundraise on behalf of Equality California's No on 8 campaign. "Among the eight of us, we reach tens of thousands of eyes per day," she said. "If we come together in a coordinated and unified effort, we could send a really powerful message, raise a ton of money, and make a real difference in the fight against Prop 8."

Pam Spaulding of the highly influential and award-winning blog www.pamshouseblend.com urges people to give to the No on Prop 8 campaign in the critical last days leading up to the election. Even if you have already given, it would greatly benefit the drive to defeat Prop 8 to give a little more. "We
cannot allow an established civil right in the Golden State to be overturned at the ballot box. Every dollar you can give in these last in these last few days helps fight the dollars donated to enshrine discrimination into California's constitution," said Spaulding.

Just last week, Equality California had released a bulletin that it was $10 million behind the opposition in fundraising. However, despite closing the gap this past week, there is still a ways to go. Furthermore, many current polls predict that Proposition 8 would pass if the election were held today. "There has
never been a more important time for the queer community. This election will change our world for the better or put us back in the Dark Ages. It's not only critical we win for California, but for the rest of the country," said Sacramento resident Lori Hahn, owner of the popular lesbian family blog, www.hahnathome.com.

The bloggers have also sweetened the deal for any business entities that wish to get involved. "All companies and businesses that donate $100 dollars or more will get a free one week ad on www.thelesbianlifestyle.com and www.gracethespot.com," said Kelly Leszczynski of www.thelesbianlifestyle.com. Chu also mentioned that other promotions may come up during the
course of the campaign.

100% of the proceeds donated through the 8 Against 8 donation page at www.8against8.com go directly to Equality California's No on 8 Campaign.

Hello MySpace!!!!

In the attempt to earn more readers and seek out more authors The Lesbian Lifestyle blog is taking on the social networking Gods. We first dipped our feet in Twitter and now we're ready to roll around in the warm butter that is MySpace.

If you aren't familiar with TLL feel free to check out the blog. We've been around since 2004 and we like to consider ourselves the lesbian storyteller of the internet. TLL currently has over 150 registered authors from around the world that post to the blog. Each month 1-3 topics are posted for the authors to write about. TLL is also a place where you can advertise your own personal blog, project, or latest online undertaking.

I will be highlighting some of TLL's posts on Myspace. I will also be accepting guest submission posts via MySpace. So if you are a lesbian and you have a story to tell please send it our way. Or check out the topics of the month and see if you'd like to takle one.

Please feel free to check out the blog, leave a comment on our new space, and tell your friends about us!!!
