Hi Strides fans,

If you've ever wondered what the Strides get up to in the studio whilst recording, now is your chance to find out.

Before you get too excited, the band aren't doing any new recording, this is footage from the 'Super Custom Limited' sessions 2008.

It provides an intimate look into the workings of this most mysterious and private of bands. You may feel as if you were actually present, sharing a beer with the boys while they laid down some funky tracks. Check the video out and Enjoy!

Cheers, Big Strides.

Hi Strides fans,

It's been a while since we last posted a blog. We have all been taking a bit of a rest from the hectic world of jazz/rock/blues/rock/fusion/jazz/blues but felt it was time to break cover.

If any of you are fans of the US TV show 'House' featuring one of the UK's finest exports, Hugh Laurie this news will be of interest.

The new series of the show premiered last night on Fox in the States and the soundtrack featured none other the Big Strides. The track in question was 'I Do Not Fear Jazz' from our debut album 'Small Town, Big Strides'. It appears in episode 2 which was shown as part of a double bill opening episode.

Fans of the show based in the UK and elsewhere will have to wait a bit longer for the new series but hopefully all US fans will agree, the episode was greatly improved thanks to the Strides.

If you live in the States and would like to purchase any Big Strides material please follow the below link to Amazon UK's MP3 store. We are working on getting our material on US iTunes and it should be available there soon.

Bye for now, Big Strides.

Hi All, We have just returned from our 3rd trip to the land of the rising sun and it's safe to say it was the best yet. We played our own headline gig at Tokyo's Astro Hall where we had a great turnout. It was our first chance to air some of the new album live and we had a blast. 2nd was our appearance at British Anthems, sharing a stage with the Charlatans among other great UK acts. The crowd was huge and it really was a highlight of the trip. Thanks to everyone who turned up and made it such a special gig!

I should reserve special thanks to all our friends in Japan, in particular Miki & Sachiko who took us to the infamous Maid Cafe and a quality little sushi place. We also had some serious rivalry at the karaoke where we had renditions of Bee Gee's, Rod Stewart, Gilbert O'Sullivan & Los Lobos classics to name a few. Thanks also to Ichi for once again treating us so well and arranging some great promo appearances, Emi for keeping us organised and making sure we arrived at the gigs on time, Patrick & Alex the horn players who made the gigs so great and for inventing some new cocktails.

There will be pictures posted as soon as we have a chance. We will return as soon as we can as it's always a joy to visit Japan.

Don't forget we have 3 UK dates coming up next week, check our gig listings for details. Please come down and bring your badself along.

Cheers, Big Strides.

You may have noticed a slight overhaul of our myspace page in recent weeks. We've changed the colour, added our awesome new video 'Hen Night Limousine', changed the photo and now added 2 tracks from our new album 'Super Custom Limited'. Please take a moment to listen to the new tunes and watch the video then leave us a comment. We value your opinions, however, if they're negative we'll ignore them whilst taking mild offense. Thank You, The Strides.

Hi, Just a quick update on the recording of the new album. The 1st leg is over and we've got some great tracks down. We've been working at the excellent Westpoint Studios where we had our favourite producer Dan Swift at the controls. We played long into the night and many beers and pannini's were consumed. Thanks to Ian & Alex for all your assistance and plentiful cups of tea.

We've now headed to Swift Sound to lay down the vocals and do the mix. We're hoping to get a few guest musicians in and also drop some human beat box on your asses. It's sounding great and we're all really excited about getting it finished.

We've added a new album to the photos section to give you a glimpse behind the scenes.

Current mood:  creative

Hi Strides Fans, Just a quick note to keep you up to date on what we're doing at the moment. In recent weeks we've been rehearsing hard, working on the fabled 'new material' that so many bands are into these days. You'll be relieved to hear that it's sounding awesome and we can't wait to get entirely inside the studio to lay down some funkin tunes for you to bug out to.

This is planned to go ahead in the next few weeks and if all goes to plan we'll be taking advantage of this myspace thing to bring you a 'studio diary' of sorts. If I manage to figure out how to work my computer it will feature pics of us horsing around 'in the studio' and funny anecdotes relating the vast amounts of fun and tomfoolery we'll be having, as well as the great music we'll be recording of course. Sounds exciting I'm sure you'll agree.

Once the albums 'in the bag' and 'on wax' we'll be hitting the road to bring you the new tunes up close and personal. Keep your ears peeled. That's all for now. Peace Out.

It was inevitable really, the good word of the Strides has spread to our European brethren. Big Strides 2nd album 'Cry It All Out' is set for release in 2 new European territories, Germany & Austria and Spain & Portugal!

The German release is being put out by the excellent India Records www.india-records.de in January 08, look out for German tour dates soon.

The Spanish release is covered by Pupilo Records and again, the boys are planning to visit the sunny shores as soon as they can.

All this means that people in these areas will no longer have to rely on nasty downloads to listen to their favourite band, they'll be able to buy a real CD! Hooray for progress!
