I am now accepting dates who like bikes! I want to see a few of the shorts programs, but they're $8 a pop & at best I can afford one ticket. So if you want to take me to any of the other shorts programs I'm happy to let you! My husband won't let me put out, but I wouldn't on a first date anyhow. No matter what he says. ;)

I picked up 80 prints today. I can now paste together a 2-up of the photo zine. I cannot, however, afford to copy it, so that will happen the next time I sell some prints. Someone contacted me about larger sizes for a couple of photographs, but I guess it was out of her budget because she never returned. Bummer.

It was pretty heinous, weather-wise, the last few days but today it's actually bearable. I still sweat like crazy when I ride my bike, but at least my forearms weren't sweating, which is a tell-tale sign that the mix of heat/humidity is too much for me. I hate seeing people bundled up when it's so warm & humid. Yesterday as I was entering the post office a woman walked in ahead of me with a black wool shawl wrapped around her upper body. What. The. Fuck. I was drenched with sweat & she was not anorexic or anything. Let's not even get into all the freakshows wearing hoodies when it's hot & humid. Or that dude with the sweater.

So what should I have for dinner? I'll take suggestions. The options are: Jimmy John's, Wendy's, McDonald's, Caravelle (Vietnamese/Chinese), A Slice Of New York (pizza, obviously), The Bad Waitress (diner food), Little T's (faux Mexican), Market BBQ, and several other things I can't think of right now. This is what's within walking/biking distance. Mostly I'm just tired & don't want to move.

 Sheela's nibbles

[Aside from the Philly roll I'm not sure what else is on her plate. She also had white tuna sashimi & seaweed salad.]

Finally. FINALLY. The planets lined up just right & Sharyn, Sheela & I were able to get together for happy hour at Nami downtown today. It was so very nice to have time with these ladies, talking & laughing & eating good food. I still feel like a social dumbass pretty much all of the time, but at least they're good friends with each other so I got to listen to all the juicy gossip about people I only know as friends of theirs (i.e. people I only see at Cupcake Saturday or Sharyn's parties or maybe shows).
I had avocado & cucumber rolls, as well as Philly rolls & chicken skewers. Everything was delicious. And happy hour meant 12 nori rolls for $6 & 6 Philly rolls for $4.75. AC & KR, if you're reading, we need to hit that place up the next time you visit! If ever?

I biked over to the post office afterward & on my way I had to brake hard at a corner lest Sharyn run over me as she was preparing to turn right. !! Then at another corner some dude tried to score my digits. It's always a friendly chat that can never just be a friendly chat, it always has to lead to "you're very pretty" or something which leads to asking me out (on the street!). On the one hand it's flattering, but mostly I just wish men would be nice without wanting something from me.

Non sequitur: I slipped in the shower today & slammed my upper arm against the top of the tub. It now hurts like hell to move my arm & I told B I'm going to be hella pissed if I don't develop a colorful bruise to express that pain. This slip was nothing compared to that serious fall several years ago when I landed on the edge of the tub ON MY VAGINA then slammed my chin onto the other side of the tub, providing me with scar 2 under my chin. Remember that one? I think I was on that other blog site then, Pitas or whatever? Anyhow, today I was bent over, washing my right leg, when my foot slipped from the soap on those NON-SLIP frogs I bought after I fell last time. What the hell?!? This just proves that we can't be old people with this big ol' clawfoot tub action, otherwise I will break my neck. Or my hip, more likely. We will have to get one of those walk-in tub things that you sit in.

I sent my dad a Father's Day card this year (I do so rarely) & he sent a postcard back letting me know that he & Mercy (my step-mom) will be here late July/early August. I was going to send a postcard back asking what's up, but Mercy emailed me today to let me know they'll be here "about" the 31st for her Creative Memories National Convention. She'll be busy during the day so it'll be just dad & I. I look forward to showing him our lovely city, but there will of course be that whole discomfort factor to deal with. I'm going to try my best to shirk it off this time. The postcard & email were both worded in a way that assumed we'd have to make time for them, and that we wouldn't necessarily be able to (or want to?). They know I don't work, so it was probably more like thinking I might not want to see them too much. I don't know where they're staying, but I looked it up online & the event will be at the Mpls Convention Center (which is about 5 blocks from my apartment) August 1-3. So it looks like I'll have at least 3 days of playing tour guide for my dad. With help from B since that's over a weekend.

B didn't hassle me TOO MUCH about getting drunk with E (and Gabe & JP & Danielle). He admitted that mostly he's jealous that I might have more fun with my friends than I do with him. He doesn't really let loose...ever...but the fun I have with friends is different. It doesn't mean I don't have fun with B. I will always be most comfortable with B which means I can always be myself without worrying about it, which is always a good thing. But he is still wound pretty tight most of the time. It's nice to be able to do things with E that kind of make me feel like I'm 20 years younger (like getting drunk in an alley, walking around the city putting up graffiti, drinking pitchers at the VFW, etc.). It doesn't mean hanging out with B is less fun. Hell, if nothing else hanging out with B is a million times better because I can hold his hand & kiss him & stuff when I get drunkenly amorous! Even though he obviously isn't too keen on my drunken advances.
E, Gabe & I talked about going back to the VFW Monday night for the drawing. We could win $50 or a pizza! Plus I really owe E for always paying for my drinks (something B doesn't like because he said that makes it a date, which I think is bullshit).

I think tomorrow B & I are going for a long bike ride, then down to the river to watch fireworks.
