Sugarbeatclub Present:

AC Slater
Calvertron
Utah Saints
Palms Out feat Urchins

We're delighted to welcome US king of all things bass AC Slater. Originally from Philly a move to Brooklyn saw him embrace and create the rave, acid and bassline relentless sound he is now famed for. Emerging as one of the most notable up and coming dance music producers, he was taken under the wing of Brooklyn label Trouble & Bass (home to Drop the Lime, Math Head, Passions). With a notorious musical family behind him, 10 years behind the decks, and an arsenal of tracks, Slater is set to take on the world. His skills have not gone unnoticed as his tracks have had consistent radio play on BBC Radio 1 as well as Kiss 100 in the UK, and have become integral parts to the DJ sets of Moby, Crookers, Tommie Sunshine, Freestylers, MSTRKRFT, Sinden, Drop the Lime, and Stanton Warriors, just to name a few.

Calvertron was the producer/engineer behind one of the UK's most groundbreaking music duo's 'Twocker' and has been a full time musician/ music producer and international dj since 2002, with around 100 vinyl releases under his belt in various forms of Electronic music he's certainly no new comer to the industry. Following a string of kick-ass reworkings and awesome productions, he has found himself the subject of attention from the biggest artists & record labels in the business including the likes of Erick Morillo, Armand Van Helden, John Digweed, Roger Sanchez and Pete Tong (who has regularly showcased the fruit of his production on both his Thursday night ‘New Music’ show as well as the Friday night institution that is the Essential Selection). Known for rocking parties with his unique take on Electronica we think he will be one not to miss.

Also on the night infamous music blog Palms Out will be taking over the 2nd room to do what they do best featuring rising stars Urchin. having remixed the likes of Foamo and Malente and released for labels such as Southern Fried the Urchin's sound has been picking up some massive support...and quite rightly so we think.

Add to that our very own hosts Utah Saints and it looks big doesn't it?

Yo!

We thought we'd give all of you a heads up about what Urchins are up to; seeings as we've never actually used this blog before!

First up, we were told yesterday about this video! No idea where it's from or who the dudes in it are, but its basically a Breakdance Battle (do you even call it that) taking place to a number of tracks - namely our remix of AC Slater - Kuku. Needless to say, we pull off similar moves everytime we play it out (see the backflip into body pop / worm / thing). We must say that watching people battle to the buildup of 'Reward is More Cheese' is in a word, bizarre. But ace.

Whilst we're doing a blog, a little word about another one! We are the UK Voice for Palms Out; which is currently undergoing a facelift that Latoya Jackson would be proud of. Once it's back up we'll be getting stuck in, so send us any bits you would like to showcase to 10,000 people a day - we're always looking for new stuff to post!

Production wise we've just finished (honestly) our Potty Mouth EP; give or take a tiny bit of tweaking of the vocal on the reworked White Boy Fakin'. Brickabracka has also had a rework and now has a mahoooosive vocal on it. We're keeping both tracks close to our chest but will keep you informed as to when they're coming out. Our remix of Robot Disaster should be out in the next month too. We've just started working on a remix for Malente which we're pretty excited about and then we've got a few collaborations up our sleeves which will hopefully start taking shape in March sometime.

We've got some massive gigs coming up, after which we are going to be taking a break and getting locked in our studio. We've been spreading ourselves very thin in recent months and not spending enough time making the stuff we're playing; so get involved in one of our upcoming gigs! We'll still be keeping up our residencies at Gatecrasher, Stealth and all our bits in Lincoln (Moda, Dropout etc) so we won't be getting a Vitamin D deficiency.

In February you can catch us at MIND THE GAP in Leicester with Hostage, at 333 in Shoreditch with Youth Attack and someone else huge and finally at FRESH OUT OF DEATH in Nottingham with BLOODY BEETROOTS and RIVA STARR!! Verrrrrrry excited about that last one! We're also continuing our Saturday night residency at The Cell in Lincoln, and will be playing at other bits and bobs around the city throughout the month.

Safe!
