Current mood:  contemplative

Hey everyone, this is Evan.

I am writing because it is way past due for an update as to the happenings here with The Royalty and I personally wanted to send out some thank yous, good lucks and good byes...

First of all, the updates...

Our EP is finally done!!!  It sounds better, I think, than we could have imagined.  We had only a couple of days to pound it out, but Casey Foubert (Pedro the Lion, Crystal Skulls) kept us motivated and on track.  It was my first time in a legit studio and I hope, after this experience, that it won't be my last!  It was nice to finally hear the songs as we had heard them in our head.  We are now going to start on album art and pressing as well as attempting to get them into an online store for your purchasing and listening pleasure.  If you want a precopy, you can send The Royalty a message and we can see what we can work out!

As many of you know, and have already seen, there have been some member rotations and we wanted to keep everyone on top of those changes.  This will alleviate the surprise of new faces (albeit attractive ones) on stage.  Our singer, Kevin, has departed and found himself in the LA area pursuing writing for a movie he has been working on as well as working on a TV show script that is in the works.  Not a bad deal if you ask me.

Good luck to Kevin, he's destined to succeed.

Taking over his spot in the rotation is none other than his lil' bro Joey.  He had some big shoes to fill and has jumped in them and not missed a step.  The transition was seamless and you will all love seeing his talented self up on stage (and to all you ladies: he's quite the pleasure to look at! But don't be jealous if he looks better in tight jeans than you do, it's just that he's so hot right now!).  He's a brilliant and talented kid, and give him a warm welcome hug when you see him and tell him it's from Evan!

Another depature is myself.  I am stepping down as guitarist and heading back to school.  I have always wanted to go to Law School and I found a school in San Diego that is going to be a perfect fit.  So while you all are at shows or making music, think of me because I will probably be buried in a book in a library somewhere way down south.  Hopefully my focusing in Entertainment Law will land me right back it the thick of the music scene!  Soooo, taking over my position is one of Joey's good friends, Jake.  Once again, ladies: contain yourselves and don't jealous of how good he looks in tight pants.  He's a kind hearted kid with a passion for music and has already proven himself more than a good fit for the band.  Go say hi, he's one of the nicest guys ever.  I wish him the best of luck with the band, I am already their biggest fan!

So, a few thank yous...

First, to the band for being a conduit and a release of creative energy.  I feel that music is a language we all speak, so share it as much as possible.  Also to the band for being such a great group of guys to work with, hang out with and drink beers with.  We have had our rough spots, but I couldn't love you guys more than I do, so thank you for a wonderful and enriching year!!  Thank you as individuals for what each of you brought to the table, without any one of you, the outcome would not have been the same!

Second, to our friends and fans!  The support you have shown amazes me and I cannot tell you how much I, and everyone else in The Royalty appreciates it.  It's motivating to the creative process and adds energy to the live show.  You make us better.  You complete us (I can't believe I actually used that crap line).  But, in a way, it makes sense.  You can't really have a show without an audience, and it's hard to be a band when no one listens.  So thank you!

Third, to my wonderful girlfriend, Lana, for putting up me.  Not just while I was gone off playing with the band, but for just plain putting up with me!  She's my rock.  I love you Lana!

Now for the good lucks...

To The Royalty as a whole, as an aggregate creative entity.  Good luck with future performances, future song writing, future beers together and future good times!  I will miss everything associated with you, so good luck, and keep it rolling!

Good luck to Kevin for his future endeavors in LA.

Good luck to Joey as the creative vocal torch has now been passed his way.

Good luck to Jake with the slinger position I have passed on to him.  I know he will kick some serious booty!

Not that these dudes need luck, but good luck never hurt anyone.

Finally to the good byes..

Good bye to The Royalty.  Good bye to each talented individual member.  Good bye to our practice space and to our tour cars (all the way to the Tri Cities boys!!).  I will miss it all.  I think the only thing I won't miss is the transport of heavy guitar equipment (you guitarists know the feeling, and yes, I know, drummers and bassists actually have it worse...)

My departure is bittersweet.  I am leaving a passion to pursue a passion.  I am leaving a city that is very close to my heart, and putting greater distance between friends and loved ones that are even closer to my heart.  I will need your support now more than ever.  Send me messages, let me know how The Royalty is doing, tell me you thought my guitar throws or my leg kicks sucked.  I don't know, I guess anything to keep in touch.

I will be back, that I promise.

To everyone, thank you, good luck and good bye!!

Keep up your support of The Royalty, go to the shows, hoot, holler, stage dive and give Joey 50 cents for kisses.

I love you and will miss you all.

May we meet again at a venue near you in the future,

Evan

Remember: The Royalty loves you
