21st Nov. Leeds, O2 Academy. We nearly don't make it after some of the ferries are cancelled due to rough seas. We get bumped to a 5.30 ferry and can live with an hour delay. Any more than this though and we may have to cancel the show. Noooooo! Its an early 8.30 show too so today is looking very short if we get there too late. Sometime during this fretting I fall asleep.... And wake up at Pontefract. It's 10.30 with an hour to go! The show will go on. Which is good seeing as this is my personal home town gig where my family usually come out in force. 100's of 'em! My new kit finally turns up, today of all days, only a month late but here now. I spend all day prepping that with Phil my tech as we're short of time as it is. 1st thing to pass my lips is a coffee at 3pm. But we get it all done and it's worth it. It looks and sounds phenomenal and for all you spoddy drum types, I'll be doing a full vlog and in depth look at it for the yamaha uk website and there will be some piccies in Rhythm next month. Mmm or snore depending on your love of drums. I'm running out of superlatives to describe your reactions but I think to say that you loved it and were happy to see us back is an understatement. Skin gives us all heart failure once again with her acrobatics, climbing up the side rigging to the balcony and singing half a song jumping around with my ma! Last time we were here Skin threw her shoes away into the pit and had them returned quick sharp but tonight there was none of those shoenanegins. The only thing you wanted tonight was more. AND LEEDS UNITED WON 3-0. What a day. A disco load out means that again the long suffering crew have to get all our shit out in an hour. I hang with my family for a while and the guys all come out and say Hi and sign some stuff for the kids. The party rages on in the dressing room until 1am by which time my mates have been back in Scarborough and partying for two hours after the show, we finish that early! It's hilarious watching all the students outside the bus too. But I'm over the wildlife and join Ace in the back lounge to watch '40 YearOld Virgin' hilarious, unexplicably long but much more enjoyable than trying to have a conversation over a stupidly loud stereo, with people who are coked off there face and talking absolute bollocks. Been there, done that. Not interested. One thing is for sure though. We officially have the best, craziest fans in the world!

20th Paris, Elysee Montmatre. This is such a tough gig for the crew but always an amazing crowd for us. We all feel rough today. Colds are taking hold and Cass' absesses have staged a successful comeback too. We have to cancel a radio session to get him to the dentist. Somethings are more important than promotion... I have a walk up the Moulin Rouge, have a coffee and walk back down the other side past all the sex shops and into Star Music where I dribble all over the new drums and electronics. How time changes a man. I resist the temptation to buy any more snare drums and decide instead to walk up to the Sacre Coeur and soak up the view for a while. The show goes amazingly well and once again we have undersold oursleves. We could have sold out the Zenith but it's good to start here en Francais. We had a crazy show here in '96 and are hoping for the same. You don't disappoint. No balconies to climb up from the stage but she makes it out to the sound desk during Hotel TV. Talk about former glories... Zenith here we come. It's a mad rush out as we have to get to Leeds so the gear is out in an hour and we're off. Two artic lorries full of equipment loaded in an hour. It's a ballet.

19th Xtra, Zurich. Biggest problem today is soundcheck. There's no point. I am louder acoustically, playing on my own than the noise police will allow. The limit is 95. I am 99 even without the PA on. No point in a soundcheck. Gig time arrives and an enthusiastic audience meet us on the boards. Skin has to pull out some acrobatics to really get you going but it works and with Rambo ignoring the noise limit we manage to get the room pumping.

18th Zurich, day off. Wandered around the old town and hazily checked out some shops. Then in the evening myself, Cass, Rambo and a few of the crew are off to the Hallenstadion arena to see Biffy Clyro supporting Muse. We miss Biffy as Muse play for 2 hours and the curfew is 10.30, so for them to be on for 8.30, Biffy are on at 7.30 and we get there at 8! Bollocks! Muse, as per, have a huge stage set and huge 'written for arena' songs. I want to see more of their personalities shining through the majesty of the production. They hardly ever talk, don't move much and look bored stiff! Maybe they're personalities are overshadowed by the 3 huge pillars of video screen that double up as hydraulic risers and move up and down like a whores knickers. They do have personalities, I know because they supported us on the Stoosh tour back in '96 when they were starting out. They just get lost amongst it all. Obviously they suffered with the same db restrictions we all have to suffer in Switzerland so the noise isn't really getting me going either.
So gutted to have missed Biffy. Only Revolutions is on repeat, alternating with Them Crooked Vultures so as one of my fave bands of the moment it is a pisser to miss them. The only redeeming part of the evening is playing 'chairplumfootball' with them with an under ripe plum. Rock n roll!

17th Vienna, Gasometer------------>39 shopping days left until Christmas!!!!!!!!!!! A 12 hour drive means we don't expect to land until 1-2pm but the drivers work miracles and we land at 11.30. Somehow the crew get it all up by 4pm. Awesome shit guys and girl! We are in the depths of the Gasometer all day on the tinterweb getting our stuff done. The gigs lands on us quick and we walk out to a reserved audience so you make us earn your respect, but we do, and we give you more and you give us more and we give you more and you give us more and then Skin walks on you and then she swims on you all the way to the sound desk in Hotel TV, which in here is a long fucking way! She sings the middle 8 from there and then gets all the way back for the beginning of Skankheads. A truly momentus moment. I fekkin' love my job.
Don't forget to subscribe to my Vlog on youtube to see all the backstage footage that no-one else gets to see...
Ciao x
