Good Shepherd Children's Home - (Promo Video) 08.09.2008 Good Shepherd Children's Home celebrated the completion of their new gym with an open house to the general public.
The event started at 10:00am and ended at 6:00pm. Throughout the day well over 200 visitors came through and toured the
facility Many were first time visitors.
It truly was a blessing to see all these children having such a wonderful time. These children come from troubled homes where the parents
are the problem and not the children. The children are removed from situations where alcohol, drugs and abuse appear to be out of control.
They are placed in a safe haven where they are surrounded with Godly mentors. They witness and experience all stages of growth from
being scared abused children to building self confidence and a desire to make a difference when they go back out into the world.
Many of the graduates return to donate their time to mentor others just entering the system. One such individual is the Director of
the Children's Home, Mike Juneau. Mike returned as a volunteer and performed many duties including being as janitor. He worked
his way up to a part time paid position then moved forward as an assistant to the Director and now he is the full time Director of this
wonderful Home.
Mark Smith, bass singer for Mercy Road Quartet said, "It is very apparent that these children and the staff absolutely
adore and respect brother Mike Juneau. Mercy Road Quartet is so very proud to sponsor Good Shepherd Children's Home".
After touring the facility Mark also had this to say. "I am so impressed with the how clean and tidy everything was. Even the
dorm rooms were spotless. It also surprised and thrilled all of Mercy Road Quartet to learn that each one of these children
is provided with the best in Christian education from two of the most respected private schools in Murfreesboro. All tuition
is donated with only the expense of the books and other learning materials being paid for by GSCH". "As we entered
the lounge area the walls were covered with pictures of former house guests who have gone on to lead productive lives while
making a substantial contribution to their communities", Mark says.
