Greetings,
Todd Collins and I are pleased to announce the release of our recording of eighteenth century mandolin duets. "John Skehan and Todd Collins perform the Mandolin duets of Emanuele Barbella" is now available. You can preview some of the music at http://cdbaby.com/cd/skehancollins and please visit our myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/johnskehanandtoddcollins for more information. many thanks to everyone who has supported us over the years by coming out to our various cafe and coffee house gigs where we worked out the kinks in this music. we hope you will enjoy what you hear.
cheers,
John Skehan
Todd and John have been performing as a mandolin duo for a number of years, usually playing Bluegrass, Celtic and Old-time fiddle tunes, and Jazz as well as their own original compositions. Delving into these tightly knit Baroque duets started out as a fun musical diversion, but before too long the idea of a record project became increasingly appealing. This literature would traditionally be performed on classical Neopolitan, or "bowl-back" mandolins- ("tater-bugs" as the bluegrassers call them)-which have a very delicate sound compared to the modern F5 mandolin. The power of the F5, that versatile bluegrass warhorse, brings a new dimension to this repertoire, and we hope you will all enjoy it.
Please visit http://cdbaby.com/cd/skehancollins to preview more tracks and purchase the CD. To find out more about Todd Collins, please visit www.toddcollinsmusic.com to find out more about John and Railroad Earth, please visit www.railroadearth.com
