I need a logo made for my business. Mostly it'll be text with a representative image to present an impression of the business concept. Mostly the whole thing will be general/generic so I'm not looking for something wildly artistic; just versatile.
I have some ideas how I wish it to look but I need someone with a bit more practice to help flush out versions until a png is finalized.
This logo will be presented nationally on websites, flyers, posters and other media as part of other businesses’ support and cross-promotional logos. There is a chance it could be seen by millions.
At the end, I will own the final logo and pay $10 which will be deemed paid in full, but only if I decide to accept a final logo from your work. However, if the company turns profitable or finds financial backing within the first year, I may be willing to offer an additional $300+ bonus but this option is discretionary, courtesy and not legally binding (I have to add this provision to ensure there's no entitlement lawsuit if someone geuinely gets swamped and forgets or something).
This opportunity might not appeal to an accomplished designer or web marketer, but I don’t want to discourage anyone who might be interested. Anyone wishing to build some experience or add a client to their resume, please apply. There will be a credits page with your name on it on the website if you ever need to assert your contribution. This page will exist as long as the website is in business.
Let me know...

I'm looking for a temporary home for Sami, his maltese. I'm not happy with the arrangements my dad made while he's away till January 12. I'm willing to pay someone who can watch and care for him while my dad is away about $700. Mostly your role would to take him into your home, watch him, walk him occassionally, and be a general caretaker in case something were to happen. Any circumstancial expenses would be covered Basically this job would be ideal for someone who already has other pets since you'd be basically be doing the same things you already do... Plus Sami's a joy. I just want him to have a situation where he's not home alone all day and night. I want him to be engaged socially. Unfortunately this offer is only available to someone near to Huntington Beach. Contact me. I'm trying to have him moved by this next week.

So, tonight I got to see the video that was made about my sisters final days. I must say, the director turned out to be a pretty good amateur story-teller. He obviously had to change a few of the events to work within a small budget, but he did an amazing job conveying a tale designed to expose teenagers to the more dire consequences of drunk driving; more specifically that this could happen to anyone because it's often not good enough to always just be about having fun even when intentions are good, I can totally see this film being published for highschoolers to see in class or drivers training (which I think was the target audience). I can only imagine how effective this story could be told with richer hands and great acting motivated to tell the tale. I presently trying to find out if the video can published on YouTube. I'll post a link if that turns out to be possible.

Regarding the Official Bats Day Hotel.
The official Bats Day Hotel rate for Bats Day at the Sheraton Anaheim was $159+taxes. That rate is sold out. Now they want like $220+taxes. That's rediculous. However, Orbitz, Cheap Tickets, Yahoo, and pretty much every online site is offering Standard 2 Queen Bed Rooms for $132 ($152 after taxes). And Orbitz is offering the Deluxe Rooms at $144 (which is good news cuz its cheaper than the official rates).
So anyway, I'd like to share a room to keep costs down:
Option 1. I have reserved a Deluxe room for Saturday night (5/2/09) only. It has 2 queen beds and a pull out couch-bed. I wish to split the cost with others. 1 Queen bed and couch available (max 4 or 5 people). Your cost would be split $166 / # of roomies.
Option 2. I could cancel my room and share with someone who has one (Sat only). It would be just me. Let me know if this option is available.
In either situation, I will need to trust the roommates entirely since I will be storing cameras and equipment since I will be working the event.
Info on Bats Day May 2 & 3rd found here.

The album isn't released till April 21st, but I got a chance to take an early listen. The album sounds like a companion to Ultra for a few tracks. These tracks I expect will hit closest for fans. Unfortunately the remainder of tracks remind me of a synthpop band I'd typically expect were trying to follow the DM format. I don't know what it means to sound like you're copying someone who was trying to copy you, but that's kind of how it touches me. However, there are clear markers DM was trying to distinguish itself with modern retro electro elements and of course with a lot of familiar darker pop you'd come to expect from DM too. Some tracks stray a little too far and delve a bit too strangely into 70's or cirque du soleil for my tastes, but I imagine that's the influence that helped shape the name for the album. Honestly, the album is damned decent overall. I'll probalby delete half of the middle tracks from my iPod playlist, but I'm quite happy with the remainder.

So, according to the Sony website, my camera is repaired and will be arriving soon. Today I went to Circuit City to see if they had any good deals on DSLR equipment, and picked up a 75-300mm for 40% off. I couldn't help myself at that price. I was hoping I could find the F42A flash but they didn't have it. I think I may try another Circuit City tomorrow.

Okay. Here's the deal. I've discovered that the Del Sol has accrued over $488 worth of registration costs. The car cannot be legally moved until its registered, and it cannot be legally registered until it's been legally transferred. What a red-tape nightmare.
So basically what this means is, it must be sold before it can be legally driven (or smogged for that matter).
The worst part is, now that I'm seriously busy with some other things, I don't have time for small stuff like this anymore. Not to mention, I will be fined if I continue to try to keep it stored here now that I have 3 cars.
So basically I'm in a lose-lose situation. I have to chose between taking a full loss on the cost of the vehicle (i.e. ditch it), or lose less by finding a buyer who has time to jump through some hoops.
So here's the deal I'll make to anyone who can deliver $1700 cash in my hands by next weekend.
1. I'll sell the car for $1700 AS-IS 2. You take care of and pay registration, transfer fees, smog, and sales tax.
Otherwise, I will probably donate this car to save on taxes and save myself the the transfer headache. I'm sorry to anyone who had hoped for better in this situation.

I got a chance to witness the film, The Gene Generation, before its official DVD release on January 27.. This film features the music of Combichrist, fashion from the goth/industrial scene, and a world H.R. Giger could call his own.
This is a futuristic world where the genetically weak have been left behind to the remnants of dark industrialized cities surrounded by large walls, as if prisoners. Most of the denizens have made lives for themselves therein, but a few known as Genetic Hackers are unsatisfied. They steal genetic code from ordinary citizens in order to improve their own genetic-makings so that they can be deemed fit enough to be shipped out to a mythic utopian city called Demeter. Unfortunately, the dna-extraction process is fatal to unfit hosts (which represent the near 100% majority). So it's left to hired assassins to eliminate Genetic Hackers.
Unfortunately, that's not really what this movie is about. Instead it feels like you're thrust into a random side-story of comic-book episode 2, and comic episode 1 was thrown away in the intro.
The story-concept is great but the execution is poor. This film will not capture you with effective story-telling, amazing development, or great acting. Instead, I expect it will capture only a small cult-following for its dark-CGI world and its occasionally surprising moments of unique visual technique.
Mostly, this film is visually-suited for us industrial kids and it should make great backdrop on the screens at Bunker. It would have been better if the music was more effectively used as backbone to the story but instead it is brief and used to reveal the environment and chaos of its denizens. My favorite part of the film was witnessing the integration of Combichrist's music video "Get Your Body Beat" directly into a descent sequence through the subfloor of the city into a post-apocalyptic subterranean club. It was fun seeing some of my friends smashing the band-barrier screen. I wonder if they even knew they would be used as extras in a film as well?
Anyway, if you absolutely must read a review that I sadly must agree with, it's here: Spoiler Alert: I do not recommend you read..
