What's new here?  Oh, where to start...   I can't believe that May 9th will be our 1 year Anniversary of opening the shop!  It's been an amazing adventure and I can't wait to see what happens next - for anyone in the Cherry Hill area we are having a party on May 9th 12pm-4pm at the shop to celebrate...  stop by and say hi, grab a bite to eat and meet the awesome staff!
Classes continue to be full and fun!  Our May class is already full but we still have some spaces left for June - check out our calendar page http://www.thediveshopnj.com/calendar.htm to see the dates.  It looks like it is going to be a fantastic dive season!
We just scheduled our Annual Bahamas trip for October 21st-25th.  This is such a fun trip, you don't want to miss it!  We spend 5 days/4 nights in Freeport, Grand Bahama - 3 days of diving and optional shark or dolphin (or both!) dives!  I think the island is still recovering from our last adventure!
Thank you to everyone who made this such a great year for us!  We are so excited to be heading into our 2nd year!

There is a lot to be said about diving - it creates a really amazing community of people that are all passionate about something they love to do...

I will try and not turn this into a rant however, I was reminded today how little some people can value "the local dive center".  When you have questions about your equipment - where do you go?? Online? I don't think so...  when something doesn't fit right or you're not quite sure it's the right piece of equipment for you - who's there to help xyz.com???  I don't think so....

So why is it - in an industry where customer service is so important and crucial to keeping people diving that people forget how important it is to support their local dive center?  We are here for you at anytime!  And we TRULY care about the equipment and service you buy....  I worry that someday there may not be any local centers to turn to -- being a distant memory of that good 'ol time where you had a cool shop to go to and tell your dive stories to...

So, I digress.... I made the mistake of promoting what I thought was going to be a social networking site for divers - cool right?  A place to go and share - all about diving...   This morning they announced their allegiance to an online scuba store that does not have a "real" store....  **SIGH**

So I ask you for your support in keeping your local dive shop around...

See you  underwater!!

The first dive of the season is May 16th - which is only a few months away!!  Now is a good time to check out your gear so you don't get caught short!
Come in and say hi - if you've just come back from a trip we'd love to hear about it - bring pictures!

OK, So I know it's been a while since I updated this blog *sigh*
Anyway, we have all sorts of great stuff happening at The Dive Shop!  I just got in a bunch of new products for 2009 from TUSA, BARE and Atomic Aquatics.
BARE released a new line of BC's for this dive season - these babies are sweet!  They have some great features and are really well designed.  Come in and try one on - you won't be disappointed....
TUSA stepped up this dive season with new computers - including the new Element - a one button design with the latest in software.  It includes a "deep-stop" feature... new to this industry - we have it in wrist and console models.
Atomic just added the new Z2X to their line of awesome regulators!  It's the same design as their Z2 with a 2nd stage swivel - nice!!!!
Don't forget to check out the calendar for classes and our 2009 dive schedule! And, the Dive Shop has put together a collection of FREE seminars - check the calendar for info...
Hope to see you soon - stop in and say hi...
Happy Diving!!

So Kris took a great group of customers down to the Bahamas Nov. 5-9th 2008.  They went to Grand Bahama Island and stayed at The Pelican Bay.

I've posted some of the videos and pictures from their Dolphin Dive and Shark Dive - absolutely amazing!  Everybody raved about diving with dolphins - you'll see the pictures with the dolphin "kisses" - Make sure you take a look at the picture from Eddy Raphael - he's the professional photographer from the dive shop and his pictures are outstanding!!

Big thanks goes out to Unexso (www.unexso.com) for setting up our dive packages and accomodations.  They got to do 3 days of 2 tank dives and saw some really cool corals, fish, sharks and a great wreck at 110 feeet!

Everyone had a fantastic time and we are all excited to plan our next adventure (Mexico anyone??)

So, here we are six months later with The Dive Shop--  **whew**  Talk about a lot of work...

We had a great dive season this year - average 40+ visability and water temperatures in the low 60's - We even had some strange sightings this season.  In October there was a Whale and her calf spotted off the boat and there was a Sand Tiger shark up this way as well.

Now that we are heading into the Christmas season, if you've ever thought of SCUBA diving - it makes a great gift.  Something unusual and exciting ...  and it's a lot of fun to take classes with someone.

We also have stocked up on a lot of gift items for those of you who have divers in the family and friends circle.  Just come in and ask for ideas....

Happy Diving!

Welcome to The Dive Shop - So, we officially opened on June 14th - but really openend our doors on May 10th 2008.  It's been so awesome!  I can't believe how many people dive or want to dive in this area! I really love the new shop - it's been a lot of work but, looking around it now, it was worth all those long nights.  We are running classes every month from Open Water to almost any specialty you can imagine...  If you want to learn to dive and are in the area - give us a shout...  we'll get you all taken care of!  I've been really lucky to have the staff I do...  My instructors are awesome, I love the dive boat we are using (Thanks Dina Dee II ) and the dive club (www.southjerseydiveclub.com) has been a huge supporter as well.  Again, come on in....  we're always here and the coffee is always on...

If you have any concern for our Oceans and it's highest hunters please follow this link and make your support known.  Sharks are amazing creatures of the ocean and you would be considered lucky to ever see one in its natural habitiat.

Lets end this DISGUSTING "SPORT" -  Boycott the sponsors of these events!!!
