a word about goodbye dyna's debut album 'XXVII'
MOWBRAY- "it's called 'XXVII' because it was created entirely during the year that i was 27. the process consumed me for that whole year. i started
writing the song 'ghosts & mascots' the night of my twenty-seventh
birthday (10/21/07). over the first six months i wrote a song a
month. spent four months recording and two months mixing. i finished the final mix for the album exactly one year later as the sun was rising on
my twenty-eighth birthday. it was then sent off to be mastered and was
available on

&
cdbaby on xmas eve 2008.
the events of the world around me had a profound effect on the
lyrical content of the songs i was writing at the time. the death of
my grandmother formed 'madagascar', a family vacation in kauai inspired
'whalesong', news coverage of the democratic primaries led to
'mediothèque', the oncoming recession took the shape of 'setting sun',
and 'season of the blister' was written during the farewell tour of
president bush. the other six songs on the record were written when i
was younger.
arranging and recording the music myself i
worked diligently and kept to a rigorous schedule. the more i got done
the more i took myself seriously and the vision & concept for the
album would solidify. my only intention was to make myself happy by
creating something i could be proud of. music I would enjoy listening
to. 'XXVII' wasn't made for anyone but me. i'm not trying to show
off to anyone. it's more of an experiment of my creative enlightenment.
a form of therapy. if you enjoy 'XXVII' that makes me happy too. but if you hate 'XXVII' or if 'XXVII' doesn't do well, it's alright because i didn't write 'XXVII' for you or to become rich.
now 'XXVII' is my main
form of income. if you like what you hear and would like to help
ensure that you can hear more from goodbye dyna you can contribute by buying 'XXVII',
