you may start to notice a change in reoccurring themes in my art. It is going to go from cute and fluffy to something helpless, worthless, deceitful, mechanical, and empty.
I have lost all faith in myself (I am not talking about losing faith in my skills, but my personality), love, and most people.

"If you don't bust your ass when you are 20, no one will love you when you are 30."
Because of this quote alone, I have decided I am going to try my hardest to make my 20th year of living the best year possible so far. My goals are as follows:
1. Lose 30-40 pounds before my birthday. I have until May 24th 2008 to reach my goal. I need to get back into shape for many reasons- to feel healthy and have better self esteem and to present myself in a better fashion.
2. Have a solo art show at The Flying M- or any other place that has art shows.
3. Have more Boise Weekly covers.
4. Work with larger/more well known bands. Maybe work for a venue to get hired for gig posters.
5. Start/finish my website and make it the best website I possibly can. Have it finished by June 1st.
6. Have my art published in Ruby Magazine..
7. Find an apartment and move out. Or find a house with a group of people that are willing to have house shows.
8. Make even more friends. Network more.
9. Have more shows with Zach. Work on new music and become a stronger band.
10. Design tshirts and have them printed through Threadless and other excellent companies.
****These are in no particular order and I have all year to accomplish my goals except for goal 1 and goal 5****

this is just to keep record of what albums I liked the best this year. there is no order yet.
arcade fire- neon bible of montreal- hissing fauna, are you the destroyer sea wolf- leaves in the river peter and the wolf- ivory palms beirut- the flying club cup radiohead- in rainbows band of horses- cease to begin iron and wine- sheperd's dog feist- the reminder the shins- wincing the night away Devendra Banhart- smokey rolls down thunder canyon
that makes 11. well shit, I am either going to cut Iron and Wine or mmmm Feist. Har Har, OH the POWER. special mention also to Architecture in Helsinki, Stars, Herman Dune, YACHT,
alright, I have come to a decision on the order of these albums.
1. Arcade Fire- Neon Bible 2. Of Montreal- Hissing Fauna Are You the Destoryer? 3. Radiohead- In Rainbows 4. The Shins- Wincing the Night Away 5. Seal Wolf- Leaves in the River 6. Beirut- The Flying Club Cup 7. Devendra Banhart- Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon 8. Peter and the Wolf- Ivory Palms 9. Band of Horses- Cease to Begin 10. Of Montreal- Icons, Abstract Thee.
that's right... I put Of Montreal on the list TWICE. Icons, Abstract Thee is so perfect in every single way. It isn't even a full length album and I think it is even better than spot number 10 on my list.

now that I don't have a car anymore... or for the time being, I guess now is the time to get off my fat ass and ride my bike everywhere. so I was figuring, if I spend $80-100 a month in gas, and then $450 every 6 months for car insurance, then $15 every 6 months for an emissions test, $80 a year for a parking pass, etc... If I don't have a car for a year, I would save between $1970-$2210 a year. THAT IS INSANE. Thats pretty much a semester of college right there. That is... just so much money I could save by not having a car. but then... then winter hits. and I don't live close enough to downtown or the campus to really walk ro ride my bike to school in the snow. and the public transit system in Boise is awful. There are articles published in the paper about it all the time. No one in Boise wants to take a bus or carpool. They stopped the routes up to my house simply because there were not enough people. A bus blew up a few months ago too, which is something I wouldn't want to possibly happen to me next time I am on that thing. The buses are old and they over-heat all the fucking time. No wonder no one wants to take the bus. A World Without Oil

I am starting to feel the squeeze of higher gas prices which really comes at a bad time because I have had to run around town a whole bunch. I've tried biking a bit, though biking at night and biking 10 miles uphill is never fun. I joined a bicycle gang, The Spokes, as a way to protest The Cruise, a boise phenominon that ThaJinx has described in his blogs. Instead of getting in our cars and partaking in the awful cruise, we got on our bikes and biked the route instead which did a number of things--cause traffic to slow down and to piss off those gas guzzlers, and caused the Boise police to try and stop us. Sadly, it came to an end after only half an hour of riding. Not all of us had headlights on and we were informed by a motorcycle cop that it was law in Boise for bicyclists to have a head light on after dark. Funny thing the other cops that drove past us didn't mention a thing.
I will continue this later...

Today my friend Henry and I explored around an old neighborhood. behind each set of houses are alleys that run for miles and miles. The alley-ways are a great place to go treasure hunting because so many people dump garbage and stuff back there for others to find, or throw away. This time Henry and I chose to search behind an old shut down castle-like church that is now used as housing. I had searched behind the church before not to find too much of interest, but today was gold. The day was a gorgeous 70+ degrees and we had just spent an hour in our favorite park. Things were looking good. The first thing we found in the alley- a little storage shed for a 1950s motorcycle, but the bike was ot of it and the shed was open, revealing old 1950s pinups amongst other nostalgic items. As we continued walking down the alley we stumbeled across an old tv, a stuffed teddy bear, a sneaker/boot, an old orange and green velvet armchair and then discovered separate treasures of our own. Henry picked up a video tape that said "alex" on it. I nudged around in the dirt and found an old Nancy Drew mystery book and a white necklace (pictured below). What a great day for treasure finding! I will update this entry as soon as possible to let you know what was on the videotape!
