Dope House Fans!

A couple of updates for you on some things coming out of Houston, Tejas these days. First of all, Dope House Records is busy putting the finishing touches on the upcoming Screwston album and a new SPM project! While we don’t have official release dates for either of these projects, we promise to keep you updated as changes occur.

Some of you might recall reading a status comment recently posted on the Dope House MySpace page mentioning our need for help in an upcoming project. Well, I’m about to tell you what that is. Some of you may remember the snippet campaign last year for “The Last Chair Violinist” during which we made a call for fan comments for the audio snippet. Well, we’re doing it again this year, and we’d like to raise the call for more shout-outs to SPM.

CALL FOR AUDIO COMMENTS FOR UPCOMING DOPE HOUSE SNIPPETS ....

Carlos has asked for audio comments detailing what the music of SPM and Dope House Records means to you. Has it helped you through a certain situation? Why do you listen to it? What do you LOVE about it and why do you keep coming back for more? Whatever the reason, we’d like you to tell us!

Keep your eyes glued to the DopeSpace website and our MySpace profile page soon for the Snapvine audio application which will allow you to place a call via phone or leave an audio message online.  And of course, tell other Dope House fans that you know.

DOPE HOUSE CATALOG GOES DIGITAL ....

Missing some recordings in your Dope House Records collection? Someone jack all your CDs? Listened to your cassettes for so long the tapes won’t even play? Well guess what, Dope House fans, the Dope House Records catalog is going digital. If you visit iTunes or your other favorite online retailer, you should notice a lot more of the catalog is available online than ever has been in the past. Due to a death in my family, I have been out of touch with you all. I am glad to see that we have had so many new friends join this page.

Army consists of fans that are dedicated and believe in SPM, his music
and in some way has related to the words he raps. You would be helping
with events and promotions for SPM's music and other Dope House
projects. We attend flea markets, car shows as well as setting our own
events throughout the country. Without the fans, Dope House would not
continue to thrive. The Army helped make SPM's latest release hit the
Billboard charts with whopping results.

What's up, Dope House Records? It's another day at the office, and we're busy with well... God knows what? At any rate, I'm writing to talk about a few of the things that are happening right now. You may or may not be aware, but the regular site (www.dopehouserecords.com) is getting a make-over and it's almost done. We're in the conversion process right now and hope to have everything organized and ready by the end of this week.

After that, we're going to be rolling out some changes in the Dope Store while implementing some new contests and features here on our various network of sites. The goal of all this is to

A) Keep you coming back for more not once every week, but EVERY DAY.
B) Keep you entertained and sold on our music, the best thing we do!
C) Enhance your overall Dope House experience.
D) Create an environment that's friendly but in line with the type of music we make.

So, I'm making a comprehensive list of things I'd LIKE to see happen with our online community, so if you want to help out with this, drop some suggestions on me. Here's what I'm thinking... What do you guys think of...

A Weekly E-Newsletter

We already do this, but it's my goal for you to be able to expect from us an e-news blast at least once a week on a regular time basis. News is information, and information is powerful.

Monthly Dope Tone

What about new ringtones for your phone? I'm thinking about trying to incorporate the collective musical talents of our staff to create some Dope ring tones for you to jam. A new one every month. A short hook, maybe something that connects you to Dope House musically.

Weekly Video Blog

A little video talk from our CEO, or maybe Pain, our chief engineer, or something entertaining just telling everyone about what's up.


And then we have contests. What contests would YOU like to see? We've tried running a few things in the past, and we've had a little success, but some things, I will admit, we've dropped the ball on. What would YOU like to see?

It has come to light that we could possible begin a subscription ($12) for a year of newsletters. These newsletter would be containing updates, new releases and other SPM and Dope House related news.

Dear Fans:

As far as projects that we've got coming out, I'm excited to announce a
number of different things that we'll be releasing next year, should
God be willing.

First of all, in the first quarter of next year we are releasing not
one but TWO Screwed and Chopped projects. The first of these is "The
Last Chair Violinist: Chopped and Screwed," featuring all the original
tracks from TLCV (minus Baby's Prayer and Carolyn's Skit) will come out
some time in March if all goes well. Following close behind that one
will be a new "Screwston" project, which I believe Smiley was so kind
enough to post some audio clips from. There will be a lot of features
on this one. To update everyone on this project, it's been decided to
release this as a double disc set for the fans, so you'll be getting
TLCV: Screwed and Chopped AND Screwston, packaged together. Can't wait
to see the way this one looks!

Coming up in in summer, we have "The County Boys: Telephone Road," an album straight out of the Harris County Jail. A bunch of inmates and Carlos
rapped an album entirely over the phone after the inmates made him a
soundbooth made of blankets and wiring. I believe this album features a
song Carlos talked about in a letter from an earlier portion of this
year. The song I'm talking about is called, "Through a Window." Look
for it hopefully in June.

If all goes well, Carlos has been talking about doing a collaborative
album with some of his fans. All of you are familiar with the Cold 40s
right? Every once in awhile, in letters to the fans, Carlos will write
a 40-line verse and we'll post it online for you to read. Well, take
about 16-17 of those Cold 40's, add original beats, and the mic talents
of Carlos's beloved fans and you've got yourself a collaborative album!
What other artist is doing that right now for their fans? Expect some
contest ideas in the near future on this one.

Then, some time the middle of autumn (think November) we're hoping to bring you the next SPM project. That's right, coming to you straight from Dope House is "The Son of Norma." This will be the 11th album from SPM, and will likely be a return to some of his old-school sounds. I've been in the studio a
little to hear some of the things that will be worked on, and I have to
say that I'm impressed. Everyone will be getting a real treat from
their favorite rapper in 2009.

I think that's all the major projects for now. As always, if you have
any questions about the music or anything, feel free to drop me a line.
