Slip Away is a song that I wrote a few months ago as a worship tune for church. Writing a worship song was really difficult for me but I think it's good for songwriters and musicians to venture out a bit and try writing a completely different style than what they're use to!

Featuring, of course, Jillian Gallegos on background vox!

Slip Away
©2009 Music & Lyrics by Isaac Gallegos

The room is dark, the world’s asleep, I think of the burdens that I keep
I close my eyes, I’m on my knees, I rest there, a place of perfect peace

I slip away, I’m taken to a place that’s far away where I can see Your face
I run away, I see the love in Your eyes I’m living my life for You.

You’re all I need, You make love real, You make me feel alive when everyone else is still
I found the place where I belong, No coming back, I know I’m too far gone

I slip away, I’m taken to a place that’s far away where I can see Your face
I run away, I see the love in Your eyes

I’m living my life for You, for You, for You
I’m living my life for You, for You, for You, I’m living my life for You.

(The world will fade away, but I will always stay with You)

Sometimes is a song that I wrote that features my hot wife's hot voice. I love her singing and I tried to make her the center piece of this song! The lyrics are pretty darn self explanatory!

Sometimes
©2008 Music & Lyrics by Isaac Gallegos
Featuring Jill Gallegos

V1
Sometimes in life you're dealt a bad hand sometimes you can taste the sand
Sometimes the wind blows and even though you see it coming you feel like only half a man
You can't stand up to the pressure or measure the pain that's flowing through your body
Like a drug in your veins numbing your brain I know it's not easy to have faith
That everything is going to turn out okay the way they always say
You're headed for a burnout and you may not want to hear it but I fear it's a necessity
For me to tell you what I believe because I found a friend that's closer than a brother
The ultimate healer my God full on told me that He's never going to leave
And I know the pain you're feeling is real and it's really killing me
Because I can see the look in your eyes and even though I know you're playing like it's nothing
Saying that you're fine there's a kind of pain that you can't disguise and I see it

Chorus
Sometimes you fall and hit the ground
You feel there's no one else around
And I feel the same way but I know He's with me
Sometimes you fall and taste the sand
Sometimes you crawl and you need a hand
I'll be there beside you and I know He's with you too

V2
I'm not going to pretend to know exactly what you're going through
But I know where I've been, where I'm at and where I'm going to
They always seem to say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger
But longer tests and trials have a way of wearing down on you
And when the weight of the world is on your shoulders and you don't think you can make it
You can give me a call you know I'll always be there for you
And I've got a shoulder you can cry on or lean on if you feel you're going to fall
I may not have the answers to the questions you're asking yourself
And I know I'm not the person that can take away your pain but never give up
On the only one that gives you true comfort He did it before and I know He'll always be the same
And I'm not the kind of person that is going to tell you everything is always going to be all right
Because sometimes you lose a little and you never know the reason
But I know you're going to win the fight just hold tight

Manolo is a short put pointed song from the point of view of someone who has been back-stabbed and betrayed by a friend- I'm sure we can all relate a bit. I see this happening more and more in the Christian world and this song is an angry plea for Christians to remember what we're supposed to be.

Some of the lyrics in the chorus come from Proverbs 18:21 and Proverbs 12:18, where the Bible speaks of how death and life are in the power of the tongue and how words are like a sword that stabs.

Oh yes, and if you didn't know - Manolo was Tony Montana's best friend in Scarface- whom he betrayed and killed. You get it.

Manolo
©2008 Music & Lyrics by Isaac Allen

V1
Pardon me for a minute while I step outside your line of fire
You were pretty convincing there for a bit and I'm sure you made it all worth your wile
I had your back for years and you never had to question my loyalty to you
But now your costume is wearing thin and the wolf is starting to show through
Please don't mistake my good natured kindness in the past as gullibility
I've been down this road before and I know exactly what you have planned for me
Whether you like it or not, whether you know it or not, I refuse to be part of your game
I'll just be a ghost in your past, you can remember me by a name

Chorus
Call me Manolo, how could you go so low
You interrupt my flow until I suffocate
We live and die by the blades we create
And they will know that we are Christians by our hate

V2
Weak minded individuals play Follow the Leader and do their best to keep up with the crowd
But the crowd doesn't know who their leader is, everybody just keeps on walking proud
One person starts a rumor and everyone else accepts it as true
The real test of friendship comes when that rumor finds its way to you
I still don't want to accept the reality of what's been going on
When all along of all friendships it was ours that should've stayed strong
Everyone defends their point of view, saying they only do what they think is best
But the knife is buried so deep the point is sticking out of my chest

Bridge
We've got to find a way to restore the value of who we are
We can't expect the world to believe when all we show are scars

I wrote Changes for my wife Jill as a celebration of 10 years since I met her. The song is a definite 'change' in style from what I usually do, but I'm proud of it and she likes it. The song not only tells of how I met Jill, but also has some inside stuff for her (for instance, "Jill the raddest chick around" is what I wrote on her 8x10 the night we met).

CHANGES
©2008 Music & Lyrics by Isaac Allen

Chorus
I never thought I could change
But you're bringing changes on me, your bringing changes on me
My life was always the same
But you're bringing changes on me, your bringing changes on me

V1
Well this one goes out to you Jill, the raddest chick around
It's kind of like a love letter from me but it's wrapped up in sound
Now it may seem a little cheesy, corny, even lame
But if Tom Cruise can go buc-wild then baby I can do the same
I guess it all comes down to the way you rock my world
No other girl is quite like you, you're like an ocean pearl
My mind's in a whirl every time I see your face, we're interlaced in space
You better get ready 'cause I'll make your toes curl
I gotta give you the respect that you've earned
Standing by your man through everything, and the fact that you've learned
To be a Proverbs 31 wife, a pillar of strength
And even when our baby girl got sick you never lost faith
I sometimes wonder what it is you ever saw in me
But who am I to question predestination or what's to be
When everything in this world is a lie, you're always true
And that's for real Babydoll that's why this one's for you

V2
Stop a minute let's go back to 1998
SMA was tearing up the stage at Mesa State
Heads were bangin' ears were bleeding, we were playing loud
That's when I looked around and saw you standing in the crowd
I was kinda goofy looking then and I really should've known
Better than to let you see me spittin' on the microphone
I liked your hair, your eyes, your smile- I liked your body too
Forgot the lyrics to my songs every time I looked at you
You came up afterwards and had me sign an 8x10
I never believed in love at first sight but baby I believed it then
From that point on it just got worse, it was like I had a fever
Love sick, love struck, love drunk, you made me a believer
In all the things those sappy movies always talk about
I couldn't wait to get you alone so I could ask you out
I knew right then that you were the one that God had sent to me
And 10 years later we're still together making history

V3
And there's no way I'll stay away from a public display
I'll PDA this way until the day that I'm wrinkled and grey
I'll always say the perfect thing to make you okay I won't play the same
Stupid lame games the rest of them playboys gotta play
Your love's got me in a hold and I'm losing control
Fully dedicated to you down to my soul and you know
That you're my reason you're the rock in my roll
And the only girl inside this planet that can make me feel whole

Outro
I'll run away with you
