...but there are a million things I meant to do. It's been since January that I decided I wanted to start learning about production and making some Dubstep. So far, so good.
I've gone from learning what the hell is going on with Reason, rewiring it with Logic 8 and now I'm using Logic 8 exclusively. Not because I have anything against Reason, I just am finding that as I learn more I really am enjoying the power, organization and GUI of Logic.
I'm very happy with my progress so far, but none of this would have been possible without a helping hand and advice from friends so to
Philip,
Cedric,
Sune,
Harry,
Jay,
James and everyone else. Thanks!
Most recently I've spent most of my time working on just one track, "Change" (aka Amadood, a tribute to my friend Amadou) figuring new stuff out. With mixing & mastering help from
JayBird and constant advice from
Sune MC I think it's come out pretty well. The perfectionist in me wants to keep tweaking, but I think it's done enough to move on.
Change was made entirely in Logic. I went through three different attempts at the bassline, threw the beat together in Ultrabeat, used some random samples and then in search of some vocal samples decided to rip an Obama speech and cut it up. It works pretty well, though it may make this track dated quickly. I just hope I get to hear it played out somewhere before that time comes.
In an attempt at self-promotion I also posted the track on YouTube:
Between all of this I've begun drawing some cartoon robots on Post-It notes, deemed them to be "MemeBots", started decorating lots of things with them and threw together a quick website as an easier way to share them:
