HHU EXCLUSIVE: Nipsey Hussle Intv.

Few MC's have excited and infused the West Coast scene with energy as Nipsey Hussle has over the past months, ever since the release of his "Hussle in the House" single.

With his extremely popular "Bullets Ain't Got No Name" mixtape series, along with a number of viral videos, Hussle has breathed life in to a, generally, stagnant industry.

You'll see a number of topics talked about below, including his come up, details on his upcoming album, South Central State of Mind, and working with different artists.

I'm pleased that HHU got the opportunity to get an exclusive intv with Nipsey, by way of collaborating with
Ty Cody (the interviewer) over at the Valid Choice.

Part1; Nipsey talks "Hussle in the House,"
Snoop Dogg, The Game, advice for up and comers, when his studio was raided:

Part2; Wanting to be a pioneer, taking advantage of technology, his album, his record deal, release date (Dec. 22nd...probably pushed UP), features (Game, Slauson Boys, Snoop Dogg...)

For some reason, I get a lot of inquires acting like I owe artists I don't know something. That may have been so the first two months when the site was online (when i was getting 200 hits a day), but things have changed.

Based off the sheer volume of emails I get a day, I have to weed out the good from the bad. Here are the ways you will NOT get your stuff posted on the site:

1) If I see a CC list of a hundred other sites in the email

2) If all there is in the email is the mp3 file with the name of the song

3) If I see "post this" or something along those lines - and that's it.

4) If I see an email that says "Your new favorite song..."  - delete

5) If I can tell it's a mass email even though the person was bright enough to hide the cc list

6) If you send the same thing over and over - PERSISTENCE DOES NOT PAY OFF with me. If this was my full time job and I cared a little more, maybe. But this is just a hobby when I get time throughout the day to make a few posts.

7) If you send me an MP3 link through twitter and/or myspace. Twitter, I just will not pay attention to. A personal myspace message is cool...it's just a matter of me forgetting to gather links from myspace messages. Send them to my email instead hiphopupdate@gmail.com

8) If you send me an email saying "check this person out..." and I can tell it's you playing it like your a fan who just found the next big thing....yourself.

************THAT'S ABOUT IT. I'll add more to that list if I think of anything.**************

how TO get your stuff on my site:

1) If I know you (yes bias)

2) If you send a personalized email

3) If I've heard of you/seen your work on sites that I frequent

4) If you don't sound like an idiot in your email/message

IT'S NOT HARD PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All it takes is a look on some artists' myspace pages to notice that a lot of them put their[or their management's] info on there in plain site, but not that many people seem to realize this. Did I mention I used to co-produce beats and distribute them to artists all around the Philly/Jerz/NYC area? I have pages of industry contacts buried in a portfolio somewhere, but unfortunately some of them are probably outdated by now (for example, Stack Bundles' contact info wouldn't be very helpful at this point.

Anyway, I'm a pretty nice guy, so here are just some contact emails I've gathered recently for producers to send their beats through. MAKE SURE TO PROPERLY LABEL THE MP3's and SEND MINIMAL TRACKS (3-5). If you do not properly label your track, chances are it'll get lost in the mix. Put all your contact info in both the email and each file. You can even go so far as to doing drops on your beats and copyrighting your music beforehand. Why? Because beats get jacked so very easily. Also, before sending in a beat, try to either include a chorus or come up with lyrics or a concept for a chorus - RAPPERS ARE LAZY.

95% of tracks you will send in will not be used but you may get lucky and get yourself on a mixtape or even a full length album if your lucky. It's been done before.
