Category: Dreams and the Supernatural
Hey all,
Ewan has decided to leave the Cry Parrot gang, which saddens us all. As a super close pal he's helped organise the shows, help in times of financial loss, flyer about and put multi membered bands up for the night. Ewan, we salute you!
Enter now Calum and Ali who will be helping out with the shows from now on. Weve got loads more gigs lined up and are pretty certain Oct/Nov/Dec is gonna be the best 3 months for Cry Parrot yet.
Keep yer eyes peeled!
Fieldo xx

If you interested in helping out at all with flyers, posters or any type of promotion, please get in touch with us.
Were looking for people to help that are keen and enthusiastic about local music and DIY ethics. Don't feel shy to message us and we'll get to work!
We'll cover all your promotional costs if there is any. However, you still have to pay into the gig. This might sound a bit harsh considering your hard work but were pretty strict about everyone - except from the bands, bar staff and roadies - paying into the gig. We ourselves into the gigs, so we believe everyone else should, too.
Remember, don't be afraid to get in touch!!
Much love, Cry Parrot headquarters xox

Current mood:  happy
Our verdict: AWESOME!
Mega thanks to the superb energetic performances by all the bands, Go-Ra-Ga for putting Lovvers up, Kid Apathy for their amazing DJ set, Duncan for doing sound and The Captain's Rest for providing a perfect gritty atmosphere for the night.
Special thanks also goes out to the drunk guy who tried to spoil the night. His attempts at messing things up were appropriately ridiculed both by the bands and the audience and thus provided us with some top notch entertainment.
Rock on! xox

Heres some of the things you should know if you are a local or touring band playing one of our shows.
1. We are NOT pay to play.
2. We don't use contracts or anything like that. We believe in artistic freedom so just turn up, play, and have a good time!
3. We do as much as we can to promote these gigs: We distribute flyers at similar gigs, put posters up in Glasgow's drinking establishments, use the internet (mainly myspace!) and include the gig in various gig listings.
4. After costs, fees and touring act expenses we split the proceeds equally between the bands. NO money goes in our back pockets!
5. For touring bands, we will pay you, feed you and give you a decent place to sleep.
6. We try to keep things non-elistist and fun, so theres no guestlists. We pay ourselves into the gigs, too.
THINGS WE DON'T DIG:
* Bands that get pissy about their position on the bill... At the end of the day, we are the promoters who are putting the effort in to promote the show for you. Unless you are a headline act or can't play at a certain time because of travel/time constraints, we expect you to accept the place you are given on the bill.
* Egos...
* People that take down our posters.
* PAY TO PLAY!
Anything else you would like to know, drop us a note! Cheers, love and happy gigging, Cry Parrot xox
