Current mood:like a kid again
Category: Games

We had a chance to drive to Las Crusas, NM this weekend, with the sole purpose of checking out Code Red Cafe, that a friend told me about.  We walked in the place and our jaws dropped.  I felt like a kid in a candy shop, literally.  I was 'ooooing' and 'awing' everything there!

Right when you walk into the place, there's a pool table and a huge projection screen to the left and a bar to follow.  The bar was no ordinary bar, mind you.  It had a glass top showcasing all the nestalgic games to get your heart racing all over again!  To your right you see big screen cabinets with a movie theater style chair set up.  There are four Renegade Game Chairs at each station.  Two are regular floor level and then two more are elevated, directly behind.  All the terminals are XBOX Live ready.  So you can either use his gamertags or your own.

On the wall you see the heart beat line race across the walls and a door leading to a live room.  This is where all the live events take place, whether they are bands or comedians. With the wide array of great video game posters and art work framed on the wall, you want them for your own game room!  I even considered the Pacman and Mrs. Pacman on their bathroom doors, but both genders share my bathrooms.

This is my type of place where you can go hang out, have a bite to eat, enjoy a beer and get your game on.  You can also be lucky enough to catch a live show at the same time!

If you want to win a copy of Gears of War 2, there will also be a Gears of War tourney there tomorrow!

Does Any Game Deserve a 10?

I don't know if you've noticed, more games are receiving a 10 rating. Does any game really deserve a 10? The first game to get a 10 was Super Mario 64, which I totally agree. From the first time you put your hands on the controller, it just felt right. It was an amazing game, one of the best platforms I've ever played of all time. Grand Theft Auto IV was given a 10. I think it's a great, solid game, with solid controls. However, I'd give it a 9.5. Metal Gear Solid 4 was given a 10. It's another great game, once again. The cut scenes are great, the story's strange but interesting (typical Metal Gear), but I still don't think it deserves a 10. Sometimes I wonder if the companies have something to do with the rating system. What say you?
