The story behind "Confession" starts in the winter of 2008 in Los Angeles. I was putting in late nights at the studio and I would come home to a perfectly calm and serene setting and still have energy to work. One night I began listening to some concepts I had been working on and happened upon one that had an interesting vibe to it that I figured could use some polishing and attention. In that first session, which probably lasted until 5 a.m., I wrote the Rhodes line and discovered the simple but elegant bass line that make up the groove of the track. It felt all too easy, and I knew that the track had serious potential after that night.
Over the course of several more late nights, I would add more percussion, atmosphere, and effects to liven it up, but the turning point came along with the vocal. As I was listening to the groove one night, I was drawn to the words "shame" and "pain" and I started thinking about how holding onto feelings of guilt and remorse brings so much anguish into our lives. People tend not to talk about their feelings and sometimes all a person needs is to relate to someone, or confess how they feel, and that's where the track gets its name.
Once it got close to being finished I sent over a rough copy to Bro.kn Records and they signed it immediately. I was lucky enough to have local artist Lisa Salcedo contribute the haunting drawing of the girl on the phone that I used for the album art. Once we had that, it was a five week lead time, ending on July 10, 2008, and now it's for sale on iTunes, Beatport.com and many others for you to enjoy! On to the next one….
