hey folks,

People have been noticing me playing with Port O'Brien, even when I play my own songs....

excerpt from KEXP blog with pics:

First to come onstage was an unannounced “opening act” of sorts. He got onstage, introduced himself as “Golden Graham”, and told the crowd “I’m not Port O’Brien, I’m just here to play a couple of songs.” Graham played only two songs: The first was a cover of Big Star’s “Thirteen” (famously covered by Elliott Smith), as well as one of his own songs. Graham, who is a little rough looking (in a beardy lumberjack kind of way), had a surprisingly sweet voice. I only wish we could have heard more.

Sacramento news and review had a picture and this to say:
Port O’Brien’s Gram LeBron plays as many instruments as he can at once
And our bay area's own indie music blog, baybridged, commented on the show at the independent.
Next up was the formidable Port O’Brien, who I have to admit, I’d never seen live before. (I know, Shame on me.) After this set, though, I’ll be making catching the band a regular thing. First off, guitar/keyboardist/whatever else, Gram Lebron (Rogue Wave) took the stage and sang a few little ditties all by his lonesome. Then Port O’Brien proper joined him on stage with Tyson Vogel (Two Gallants) on drum duty and the show really started.
So, there you go. Record comes out next Tuesday. Streaming online here and as many other places as I can figure out in the next few days. Stay tuned.
love,
Golden

well, i think we really hit our stride tonite.
we played near kansas city to about 20,000. 2 weeks into supporting jack johnson, things just came together.
everyone had a great show.
the crowd was on our side. i have a good feeling we won over some kids tonite.
and there were actually even some requests from the crowd. some folks knew who we were.
the tour has been amazing so far.
let me just recap the first two days.
7/31, 4:00:
meet up at studio in the afternoon, grab gear, take shuttle to airport.
in tow is our new bass player, cameron, who is also in his own rad band called somehow at sea. previous bass player patrick and his lady had a beautfiul baby boy so he is off the road for the moment. arrive at airport, usually we wait in line and have to deal with oversize and extra baggage fees ranging from $100 to $1500, but this time we followed a tip we got from the band mute math and used the skycap.
he met us on the curb, got all our extra/overweight stuff on the plane with no extra charges, and even got us to the front of the security line and all we had to do was tip well. awesome! thanks mute math.
i hate flying, but this flight was super smooth and i was fine. get to hotel around 2, go have a drink with pat's bro. try to sleep for 3 hours. no good.
up @ 5:45 to meet the van that takes us to whatever chicago morning show we played on. good morning chicago? can't recall. do an acoustic version of "chicago x 12" then back to the hotel, check out, meet the van to take us to lollapalooza. it is now about 10. get to the grounds, meet our bus and our driver named red. get some breakfast, listen to bang camaro (=awesome) rock the early afternoon crowd, then play the myspace stage around 1. hour long set, cameron's first with us, unless you count the morning show, we kicked it to about 12,000 i think. then we packed up and went over to the kidzapalooza stage. even though it was mostly adults it was still cool.
jeff tweedy played a few songs and then we did a few acoustic jamz there too.
have some dinner, see some grizzly bear, stephen malkmus, then when malkmus ended, they cleared off the stage and we sat on the edge to watch radiohead.who i have never seen. mind blowing. i can't believe how great they sound live. what a great day. but wait, there's more!
towards the end of radiohead's set, we took the bus over to schuba's to play with dr. dog. my favorite band! so great and awesome to see those guys again. we played with them at a sxsw showcase back in march and i am in love.
found out about them from a daytrotter.com session. which you must look at if you haven't. it's free! so anyway, they let us use all their gear like the sweethearts they are.
they rocked for 45 minutes. not nearly long enough, and then we rocked the sold out crowd for an hour or so. hung out with the dogs and then headed to the van for some chappelle show and sleep. i think we all knocked out around 3:30 am. 22 hours later. cameron was impeccable. we figured if he could survive that baptism of fire, he'd be fine. and he was, with flying colors. so, there you go. more soon....

hi folks,

we are on tour with death cab for cutie and it is awesome.
its our first tour on a bus and so far so good.
we have lots more free time than usual.
so i figured i'd start writing more regularly.
spirits are high lately, we played red rocks the other nite and it was prety much amazing.
that place rules and i think we rose to the occasion.
tonite is kansas city and then on to columbia.

dr. dog posted a track from their forthcoming album.
i'd listen to it if i were you.

cheers,

golden

hey everyfolks,

i am back on tour again, check the rogue wave site for dates, but i am pretty much gone until july.
hopefully i will see many friends while i am out.

in the meantime, or perhaps, in the real time scenario, we just got hooked up with this thing called kyte. they gave us a video phone and we can upload videos as soon as we make them, so we are trying to do at least one a day.
you can watch them as soon as they are posted on our myspace, facebook, etc....
and you can add it to yr own page. i just did it on here too.
click get & share and follow the directions.
easy peasy!!!
it should be really funny, we hope. we think we're funny anyway. let us know.

also, stay tuned for the new video for chicago x 12 starring rogue wave and BOB ODENKIRK!!!!! yes.

love each other,

golden
