I really enjoyed playing at the Ginglik on Wednesday. The sound is always excellent there and the vibe is always great. I did the gig with Karlos Edwards, an excellent percussionist/ Drummer..he played the djembe, and I played guitar. It was good fun.

This is a cool thing I discovered in a book called 'Parallel worlds' by Michio Kaku.
Traditionally, physicists viewed electrons as being infinitesimally small point particles called atoms, but then with modern scientific equipment like particle accelerators, we discovered that there are hundreds of subatomic particles with strange names like quarks, mesons and leptons. At present the leading theory that explains the diversity of particles is string theory.
String theory is based on the idea that the variety of subatomic particles making up the universe are similar to notes on a string, or a membrane such as a drumhead!
This tiny string vibrates at different frequencies and resonances. Pluck this string and it changes mode and becomes another subatomic particle such as a quark. Pluck it again and it becomes a neutrino. The whole range of subatomic particles can be explained as nothing but different musical notes on a string. The laws of physics are the laws of harmony, the laws of chemistry are the melodies one can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings..and according to Einstein, the "mind of God is cosmic music resonating throughout hyperspace."

Its really easy to lose focus sometimes when you are doing music. You can forget that music is bigger than any image that you or anyone else can assign to you. Music can unite people from all walks of life, It can sooth the mind, calm fears, and lift the soul to great heights. It projects the power of love and healing into that ever present void within.

I've just uploaded a new song that I wrote a few months ago onto my profile. I had fun writing and recording it. I played all the instruments on it myself and had to do all the technical stuff too. Its not quite finished there's more editing and mixing and mastering to do. So its still rough. Hope you guys enjoy it.
Went to a dinner party at my friend Christine's house last night and had amazing French food and wine. Christine is a DJ so you can imagine her record collection. I'm sure there were over a thousand records in her flat. I was amazed and inspired to spend even more time listening to music.

The worst thing happened last week. My alto sax fell and when I picked it up to play it I couldn't get any of the low notes. I was so freaked out.. I had to take it it to Howarths to get them to fix it. I had to leave it with them for a few days..that really hurt. I bought a new mouthpiece and reed for my soprano sax and spent loads of time playing it so I think it actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I got my alto sax back and it actually sounds even better now. So I spend a lot of time in my back yard entertaining the lizards that swim around in the pond. They love jazz.

Hampstead heath on Sunday chilled out at the womens pond. It was really hot but I didn't go swimming for some reason. I'm reading the most amazing book its called. 'Mother Earth Spiritality' by Ed McGaa, Eagle man. Native American paths to healing ourselves and our world. There is this great quote from Einstein in it.

"The more knowledge we aquire, the more mystery we find...A human being is part of the whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest_ a kind of optical illusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely, but the striving for such an achievement is in itself a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security"

Currently listening to Charlie Parker... an album called 'The bird'.

Went to a wicked barbeque at my friend Kunle's house on Saturday night. A huge garden full of people and the food just kept coming all night and into the morning. We lit a fire and stood around it. I met lots of nice people and had some interesting conversations re the fact that there is a shift in the energies around us at the moment. I think we're on the way to experiencing a global shift in the evolution of consciousness.

Met some cool musicians too, hanging out and playing and chatting. What a great night!
