Some may claim that Peace &
Quiet is the best Rain Dance Band in Utah after the downpour hit the Tailgate
party of the FM103.5 “Can’t Stop
Rockin’ Tour” !!!!
Neither a drenched Rio
Tinto Stadium or the mysterious gremlins who stole
our power during our performance of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” leaving the
Bass and Drums accompanying an acoustical “unplugged” version with the entire
audience singing along, could stop us from rocking Saturday just before
38 Special took the stage.
The event started at 2:00 PM with Contagious
These guys do a great FM103.5 mix of 60’s through 70’s
classic rock and are a great band. Their guitar
sounds are incredible and do a great voice box version of “Do You Feel, Like I
Do”
Next a young high school aged band called Crossfire
http://www.myspace.com/rpjpcrossfire
took the stage and amazed everyone with great cover versions
of Metalica, Judus Priest and other classic metal music. They had some
originals that reminded me of the band Dragonforce www.myspace.com/dragonforce
. They were much better than their years would tell you they should be. They
gathered a large crowd and got them pumped for us.
As the clouds
looked menacing, we took stage…we rocked out like we always do. We set the rock n roll atmosphere that carried on with a
fantastic concert of REO, STYXX and 38 SPECIAL.
FM103.5 was the sponsor, giving away T shirts, prizes, and a lot of
passes to the stadium show. Some of our fans that did not have tickets to the show but just came
just to hear us won tickets to the show and not
just tickets, but the coveted FLOOR TICKETS!!! Sweet!!!! It doesn’t get any better than that!!! Being one of our fans does have its
rewards!!! We like to thank the crew at FM103.5 for giving us the
opportunity to participate in this great event.
Everyone involved had a great time!
You do NOT want to miss one of
our shows!!! Be sure to come to the next one! Those of you that came – THANKS! Whenever you go on
stage and look out across the sea of faces, it always makes you feel especially
good to see the faces of those who are your biggest fans!!!! We always try to do
our very best show every time we take that stage, and especially for those who
seem to always support us!!!
We will be working with FM103.5 The Arrow ( http://www.1035thearrow.com/ ) on other events this summer so don’t miss the next one. We will be sure to let you all know when it is coming
and where! You just need to be there!!!

The Ore House…the best little ore house in Utah!!! Peace & Quiet had a great show there this last weekend. This was our first time to perform at this great biker club! We wish to thank all those fans who made the trek out to the far western Salt Lake Valley city of Copperton. The Ore House has a great staff! They are friendly and work hard to make sure everyone is served quickly and have a great time. The local crowd was awesome, we had a chance to meet many new people who immediately showed us their friendship and appreciation for our music. They allowed us to become a catalyst of fun times for both nights! The crowd this weekend really made us feel appreciated and alive!!! The more they got into our music, the harder we played. We were able to bring our music to life with a crowd that we just simply loved!!!
This is definitely one of the best venues we have played to date. As the Doors song goes…We will be “back at Ore House” on April 10th & 11th. If you did not make it out last weekend you missed a great time… you NEED to get there this time. And we hope everyone who was partying with us this weekend will also be back to continue right were we left off…party harty!!!! Check out the pictures of our lady fans with our new tank top P&Q shirts on! They are hot!!!
If you want to have a lot of fun and get to know a lot of GREAT people, you HAVE to get to the Ore House on April 10th and 11th.
Check out the Ore House Picture in our picture section.

We've been so preoccupied with the Motley Crue contest that I haven't had time to do any band updates.
The contest is over and we got 2035 votes. There were approximately 1775 bands from all over the country in the contest. They will announce who moves on to the showcase in Los Angeles Tuesday October 7th. If we get to move on you will be the first to know:)
I feel we all did the best we could for this contest and I don't have any regrets. Over 2,000 votes for a relatively unknown band like us are very respectable. There is a good chance we got enough votes to make it to the next level. Even if we don't we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
The Dawg Pound Friday was a great show. Every time we play there we get a few more people out. This show was the largest crowd yet. We made more money at the door even after letting our fans in for "free":). Tommy from Tommy Had a Vision stopped by for a while to "hang" with us and it was great seeing him. We love Tommy and it was fun having him come to one of our shows so we could harass him from the stage… we usually have to go to his shows to harass him. He belongs to one of Salt Lake's better and more popular bands and is currently signed with Retrospect Records. You should check out his albums if you haven't already. Links for THV: http://www.myspace.com/thv http://retrospectrecords.com/bands/T_bands.html
We had a bad cable with our monitor speakers and couldn't hear them all night. We also were a little too loud, its hard to keep the volume down in a small room. I would say it was one of our better shows there otherwise. --------------------------------------------
The HOGWILD show Saturday afternoon was lots of fun. They had over 400 riders which was twice the number of riders they were expecting. The weather was perfect for riding and hanging out in the park. We were a little burned out from playing late Friday so we were not in top form; however, I think we still did a good show. My wife tried to bring the grand kids by to see us but couldn't get them rounded up in time. They showed up shortly after our last song. Walt let them play the drums and I rode them home in the motor home so I don't think they missed hearing us play too much.
We are playing lots of "private" partys the next while so our calendar looks pretty empty for chances for our fans to come by and see us.

We always have mixed emotions about doing a battle of the bands. While they have value for new bands, most established bands will shun them. The problem is that only the "winner" gets anything of value and the other bands end up playing for "free". You have more to lose than win other than the opportunity to play in front of some potential fans. Most "winners" win by some political means or are chosen by some system that attempts to gage the audience response. The reality is that a Battle of the Bands is not a true gauge to how good a band might be, like sports, an given day anyone can appear to be better than anyone else. A Battle of the Bands is really showcase of different musicians showing their specific talents, nothing more-nothing less. Any band that brings a lot of fans usually has the best chance of winning.
We were asked to participate in this battle of the bands by Gorilla Productions out of Cleveland. We decided to do the battle of the because it was an opportunity to perform our new originals for a younger audience. We were anxious to see how we appeal to different age audiences, besides our usual "club and bar" crowd. We are happy to report that the crowd at the Avalon really enjoyed our performance. As usual, they were cautious of these older guys trying to play rock, but in the end theyseemed to enjoy us. We had a lot of people sign up for our fan club in front of the stage while we were playing:) That is always a good sign people like us.
The Avalon has a great stage and it was refreshing to finally have a stage that was not crowded. Additionally, the sound system there is great! We are more accustomed to the small stages that most clubs install as an afterthought to club design, poorly located for acoustical sound and very cramped and crowded. Sometimes Walt's cymbals literally are next to Gary and Carl's ears as he does his crashes!
It was great to hear what the "younger" bands around SLC are up to, this area has great talent!
Thanks to the Avalon for putting on a fun show. They really did a great job of coordinating the 10 bands that had to play for the show and things went really smooth. Thanks to Gorilla Productions for inviting us.
We hope that the Avalon will ask us to play there again! It is a great venue, so if you are a fan and know the people at the Avalon, be sure to request us!!!
We would love to come back and do a full show.

For some reason everything comes at once.
Last February I committed to doing a solo show in Payson for a Cancer Walk . I booked it for 11:00 AM Saturday morning so it would not conflict with any other possible show the band may have. Next thing we know we are playing at the 5 Monkeys Friday night and Brewskies that Saturday. It was still OK because I planned for that contingency and could still do it. About 2 weeks before the show the cancer benefit called to see if we could play that Friday night because the benefit would be over before 11:00 AM. Ouch, the only time I could help them out was 8:00 A.M. just before their final ceremony and I didn't want to let them down. I knew it would be hard but I could still pull it off.
The Friday show comes for the 5 Monkeys and Doug has food poisoning so bad he can't make the show. Now we are a 3 piece band with the computer filling in for the bass at of the bigger shows we've played in a while. And Ouch, I'm sick with a sore throat because of all the crazy stuff that happened the last few weeks so I'm not even sure if I can sing. Fortunately my voice held out with the help of lemon juice in a sippy cup and Ashley's birthday party was one of the best shows we've done in a while. Even though we couldn't do any of our live stuff it went really well. In fact the 5 Monkey's ran out of drinks before the night was finished so we know they were happy?.
Saturday morning after 3 hours sleep I crawled over to Payson and did the best I could with a horse throat and feeling like crap. At least I showed up. They said I sounded OK but I know I wasn't 100%.
Saturday Doug was feeling well enough to play and we had another hot high energy show. My voice limped by again and we finished late because the crowd didn't want to let us go. Thanks to our fans at Brewskies.

Tough weekend.
This was quite the weekend. My wife had same day surgery Wednesday and all was looking good until 4:00 A.M. Friday morning when she woke me up with a 104 fever. So we had to rush to the emergency room and I spent the rest of Friday being with her at the hospital while they treated her for a Post Op. infection. So I've had very little sleep the last 4 days counting the surgery and everything and I'm ready to rock and roll?
We worked out the show equipment setup with Osiris and they took the "stage" a little after 9:00PM. Osiris is a great harder rock band with a lot of originals and a few cover tunes. http://www.osirisrealm.com
They have good sound and originals and headline many shows around Salt Lake They are worth seeing if you get a chance. One notable part of the show was their final song, which was a cover of Rush's Limelight. They are the only band I know with the guts and dedication required to take on Rush and did a very respectable rendition of that song .
Thanks to Osiris for doing a great job of opening for us.
We took over around 10:50PM and did an exceptional show. One fun part was the lead singer from Signal came up and sang an "extra" verse to Lagrange. He is now singing with Nine Piece Trio from Salt Lake among other projects: http://www.myspace.com/ninepiecetrio He is one of the best "front man" I know and a great guy. He owns the stage and really knows how to entertain an audience. I didn't recognize him at first because he lost a lot of weight since we played a show together in Ogden about 3 years ago.
We blew out the circuit breakers half way into the show and had to cut the power to our monitors to keep it from happening again. I also think we were a little too loud but the Dawg Pound seems to like it that way because they never complained.
The end of the show I went to the club owner for the money and he said he already gave it to the drummer. I couldn't resist and got a terrified look in my face and said "OMG don't give the money to the drummer" he then got a terrified look and said "he said it was OK". I then told him it was fine and we had a good laugh.
I went back to the hospital and spent the night attempting to sleep on one of their recliner chairs. I got about 2 hours sleep and was ready to rock again.
Saturday's Cancer benefit went well. The Provo Marriott donated the space and did an amazing job of setup for us. The only downside was we didn't get the turnout we were hoping for. This as Anthony's first big benefit production and I know it will be better next time.
FM 100's Rebecca Cressman added a real touch of class to the whole event and it was a pleasure working with here. She did a great job as MC and was a very important part in making it the success that it was.
We got to meet the founder of Biker's Against Child Abuse (BACA) and some of his associates who have had or have cancer. It was a real privilege to talk to someone who gives so much to the community.
The highlight of the show was four of the cutest little girls I know singing a Hanna Montana song to finish. This was just kind of a spontaneous thing we decided to do and It was a show stopper. They came up to me and asked if they could sing and we couldn't resist letting them have a chance.
That's it from the Peace & Quiet world for June 6th and 7th.
Carl Fritch

The other end was a blast. Except for some weird technical problems it went really well. The owner also play's keyboards so he sat in on a couple of songs with us. Too bad he owns the bar, we need another good keyboard player. The weirdest problem we had was the fact that I connected the subwoofer output to the bands main monitor. In case you don't know, a subwoofer only reproduces the very low frequencies of your music. Needless to say we didn't hear our monitors all night Friday. I thought my monitor speakers blown because when I put my head to the speaker all I could hear was low booming sounds.
We sorted it out Saturday and things when a lot smoother. They had their annual pig roast Saturday and it was really good. Thanks to all of you at the Other End who made us feel welcome.
Here is a cool thing for you. If you go to this link you can get a $5.00 certificate to purchase mp3's from a new mp3 site: http://amiestreet.com/_l/cdbaby
