Ever since Facebook changed their home page, this has been the buzz for the 2 social sites.  It is getting harder to keep up with both, Twitter and Facebook.  Making connections and staying on top of both conversations.  Even with twitter, you can use the tweet deck and see the updates people post on Facebook.  Then post from twitter to Facebook.  They have really tried to make it easy to integrate both networks.

The power of Facebook is seeing what your family is doing and communicating with them easily because that is where the media is stored.  Facebook is more about those you trust and those in your proximity or seeing what your friends are doing.

Twitter is more about interests and thoughts with anyone.  Of course Facebook should be worried, where will people spend their time?  Most people like to use both.

Why does this matter for your internet business model?

As you use twitter more, you can start to see how you can create relationships and see the power that these connections can help you with anything you want to accomplish.  It has more of a viral effect that gets around faster than Facebook.

When starting an online business, one of the first things you want to do is brand your business.  Most people just use their name, and others use their interests to set them apart and stand out from the competition.

This can be vital in a tough competition when showing online business systems.  Just take a look at these major brand names and learn how they missed out on their own user name.

10. McDonalds - This user is a student from Signapore and does not want to give up his account.
9. DavidBowie - David Bowie had to use the user name Official David Bowie for his user name.
8. MTV - A Korean user with over 300 subscribers.  Not what you would expect to see from MTV though
7. CocaCola - Only 9 subscribers, also not what you would expect from CocaCola
6. Volkswagen - Only 1 subscriber, and they even tried to take the user to court because they put a Nazi spin on a VW Golf commercial.
5. BMW - Only 14 subscribers and nothing about cars.
4. Disney - 9 subscribers, and has only watched 1 video!
3. IBM - 6 subscribers, and has watched over 14,000 videos.  By some of the comments, not one that recommends other channels
2. Microsoft - 32 subscribers and Microsoft had to use the user name WindowsVideo
1. Yahoo - Only 45 subscribers

While it may seem harmless to most, if you are not securing your Youtube name, then you could be seriously hurting your own brand.  By a Youtube Report 2009 reveals that 43% of users click on the username to discover what’s uploaded in that channel.  It is important for a brand to own the username to control the messaging being communicated under its name.  If a username is the same familiar brand, 61% agree that they expect the brand to be behind the channel.

When gaining small business tips, you are always looking for the right person to be your next customer or prospect.  The characteristics or qualities of a person matter in order to attract the right people to your internet business or getting the top notch prospects into your network marketing  down line.

* Be authentic.  Be yourself. Be vulnerable and straightforward, not having any hidden agenda.  Anybody can get exposure in the internet or get a lot of attention but how do you hold that attention, that is through authenticity.  The worst thing you can do in your business is to s how or say something that you are not.  Be true to yourself and others will be true to you.  We all have the same problems and can relate a lot better to them when we are ourselves.

* Be unique to be able to stand out in this market. Know how you can be different and how to exude uniqueness on the web through your video, writing, website, storytelling, images or whatever you may have. Be able to know what you can do differently in the marketplace and what sets you apart from everyone else starting an online business.

*  Be confident and be a leader.  You must have the certain charisma, confidence and leadership that you really want to see in everything you do.  You must be aware on how you speak, how you present yourself, the clothes that you’re wearing, the tone and pace of your voice and the conviction in it. Confidence and leadership is the single most powerful way to communicate with people looking for an online business opportunity.
