As well as working on another dj format album(which is nowhere near finished i'm afraid!), over the last 2 years or so i've been working on a completely different musical project with an old friend..and at times,some musicians and a female vocalist. I hope to have a new dj format album finished later this year but it's not something i'm about to rush as i want to be 100% happy with my music and this seems to take me longer than most!

stealin' james is my modern day tribute to the music of james brown & family.

it is very much inspired by the heavily james brown sampled classic cut-ups of the late 80's (payback mix,lesson 2,feelin' james etc..) but also the way in which some of the great hip hop records of the 80's & early 90's sampled james brown's music.

it is only available on 12" vinyl (T D Records) but please have a listen here on myspace and add to your pages if you like.

finally i have a release date for my 'fania dj series' 60min mix of latin soul.       it is to be released on monday 11th june on V2 records so if you enjoyed my fabric mix then this should be right up your street.

i have put 2 new remixes that i've recently done on my page but due to the structure of myspace i can only type in limited details about them so wanted to write a little blog about them.

'CAFFEINE' is a track by 'THE QUARTERTONES' from canada that i recently remixed and was released on FREESTYLE RECORDS(uk) on 7" b-side as 'CAFFEINE-DJ FORMAT GETAWAY VERSION' (the a-side was THE APPLES-ATTENTION') it was also released on cd on the freestyle records compilation 'LET THE GROOVE MOVE YOU' . some of you may remember THE QUARTERTONES brilliant remix of 'HERE COMES THE FUZZ' for me back in 2003...well i finally returned the favour.

HAPPY SOUL(WITH A HOOK) is a classic latin funk song by DAVE 'BABY' CORTEZ & THE MOON PEOPLE that has been covered by several different artists and sampled by many hip hop records over the years and most recently by christina aguilera on 'ain't no other man'. V2 RECORDS,who now own the rights to 'HAPPY SOUL' and the entire catalogue of latin music on FANIA RECORDS and several of its spin-off labels,recently asked me to do a club-friendly remix/re-edit of the classic song as a taster for my upcoming mix cd for the FANIA DJ SERIES to be released april/may 2007(V2 records). my remix was available on a very limited 12" release and sold out in the first week so if you missed out,here's another chance to hear it. it is actually quite different to the version that will feature on the mix cd as i couldn't resist doing another slightly different version just to keep things exclusive.
