Hello everyone, Bones here. I wanted to personally tell everyone who is a friend and/or fan of Burdened By Flesh about some developments. You may have noticed in our previous bulletin, or in our status listing that we are looking for a singer. This is sadly true. I have had a wonderful blessing and an answer to many prayers come to me in the past week. I will be moving with my wife and children to the state of Washington in September. I received approval from the New Mexico court system to do so. Many of you may wonder why I needed to get approval from the courts to move. My children, whom I have had full legal and physical custody of over the past two years, are mine from a previous marriage. My ex- wife and her family have been fighting me to keep me from being able to move. I finally have won the battle, which I give all the glory and thanks for to God. I need to move my children out of this state to keep them from being exposed to more heartache than they have already had to deal with. See, my ex-wife used to be a loving mom to our children, but then she became addicted to meth and coke. She completely lost herself in the drugs, and became an unfit mother. I had to take full custody of my children so that she could not harm them any more. As time went by, she slipped further and further into drug use, until one day, she actually killed someone. It was made quite public, due to how horrific the murder was, and I ended up having to tell my children about it with the assistance of a therapist, rather than have them see it on the news. My ex-wife's trial is about to go into full effect, and I do not want my children exposed to any repercussions of the trial. Also, my wonderful loving new wife, whom I married in August of last year, and who has become my children's mother and a great spiritual pillar in our family, has a huge family in Washington dying to love on us and our children, and we feel this would be a great environment for the children to heal in. It greatly saddens me to have to leave behind my friends and brothers in Burdened By Flesh, but it seems like it is God's will and what is best for my family. I hope that we are able to find a great vocalist to take over my position in the band, who will help strengthen the band spiritually and musically, so that Burdened By Flesh can continue to do God's work and reach out to the lost people of the world. Much love and God's Blessings to all of you!!!!!!!

1.  Full name? David Charles Lisle
 
2.  Stage name? Scrummy O'Toole which came from a mixture of boredom and ethnicity.
 
3.  Years of experience? hmm its 2009 so 15-672 X pi squared + 7 = 15 years!
 
4.  Where are you from? I was born and raised in Albuquerque moved away and eventually ended up back in Albuquerque.
 5.  What kind of kit do you use? I started on a Ludwig rocker II kit then it died and I dropped 3 grand on a Premier kit its a 7 piece kit and I use 7 cymbals. I have never played on a kit with as beautiful tone as it. I love it!
 6.  Influences? Well first off my parents(HI MOM!)they bought me my first kit and never complaned when I practiced at all hours in a day. Musically is Igor Cavalera, Dave Lombardo and Vinne Paul. I would put their albums on and try to play like them so they were my drum teachers. Brandon Shelvock who was the reason I decided to start playing the drums. Bob Tracy and Matt Fordice from Toil two of the best at what they do and helped me gro leaps and bounds as a drummer! John Culpepper who challanged me stylistically. These days now first and for most is Jesus Christ and my wife June cause without them I would no longer be playing. My band mates have just ripped me out of my comfort zone. Bones our singer has pushed me to keep up with his brutal vocal style and Dal Haynes has been playin bass for a long time and shows me knew timing patterns to play together. I would say the best and most challenging influence right now is my guitarist Mike apadacalypse i mean apodica im mean ahh forget it lol! He plays a style that his took me out of my 4/4 world i got stuck in for years and encouraged me to play different syles of metal than just early 90's death metal and for that i am grateful I have progressed emensly in just the last year I have known him!
 
7.  What is your style of music? I BLEED Metal! I can play a wide variety of styles but my love is metal and I would never catagorize myself as anything else.
 
8.  What is your band's name? Burdened by Flesh. We are a Heavy Metal group dedicated to spreading the message of Jesus Christ to the Christless and there are plenty in our genre.

10.  What kind of experience do you have?  (Showcase yourself) Well Ive played hundreds of shows with some of the greatest bands ever and had a lot of fun but ive found all of that experience to be meaningless without Jesus Christ. I have nothing to showcase just a message to spread.
 
11.  What are your plans in the future? Save souls and rock out for God!!!!!!! maybe take my wife on a second honeymoon!

A bible study about trials

One day at work a man named John was having a conversation with a fellow Colleague named Eduardo. John was talking to Eduardo about some problems he had going on in his life, and was also explaining to Eduardo that he had just become a Christian about a year ago. They both worked similar positions and had similar pay, and each had a family with a wife and 2 children.

Both were applying for the new management position that had recently opened up, which paid significantly better. John was explaining to Eduardo that if he doesn’t get the position that he will probably start searching for another job, because he was tired of what he was doing day in and day out. John had been working there for about 3 years, and Eduardo had been working there about 7 years. Eduardo listened to John explain his problems and Eduardo simply said that if this is where God wants him to be then he is content with that. Confused, John simply could not understand how to apply that attitude in his life.

John
I’m so tired of working here, people are rude, and my boss constantly gives me a hard time because he knows of my beliefs. One day I heard him talking with Sharon and he spoke very loudly and clearly about how he feels towards Christians. The other day he even threatened to cut my hours if I don’t meet certain requirements. I’m one of the best people in my team. This job doesn’t even pay as well as other companies pay their employees.
Aren’t you tired of what you have been doing for so long? How can you stand it?

Eduardo
Sometimes I feel that way but when I do, I pray and look to the scriptures. Here are some scriptures that I have read that help me get through the day.

Let’s see what scriptures Eduardo reads when he is feeling challenged.

Philippians 2:14-16
14Do everything without complaining or arguing, 15so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe 16as you hold out[c] the word of life—in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing.

Yeah I get what you’re saying, and that’s good advice, but how can you stand it? I mean our boss is a lesbian who hates Christians. And the way people carry themselves here, it’s as if we work in the sinners den. 90 percent of the people here are alcoholics or rude or just don’t flat out care about anyone but themselves. I doubt they will even consider either of us for this position I’t not who you are, it’s who you know.


Eduardo responded.
I know exactly what you mean! I mean just the other day someone stole my coffee mug. My son made that especially for me, who would do such a thing. That night I went home and prayed about it, and the Lord gave me this scripture.

James 1:2-8
2Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

Then Eduardo said:
I don’t claim to be an expert on this subject matter, but I over the years I have learned that every time a fear, doubt or worry enters my mind, I simply offer it up to God. Just the other day I heard about a rumor that there might be a huge layoff. I went home that night and told my wife about it. That night we prayed about it, then the very next day, I felt a peace about it. Like somehow I knew that God was going to provide for us either way.

Worrying is such a drag.

Just then others joined the conversation, and they too, had stories to tell about worries and some of them were just wasted time, while others seemed to dwell on them constantly. Please share your stories about worrying. How did you overcome them? Are there any worries that you still struggle with?

Worrying can really bring us down; it can cause stress, lacks of sleep, upset stomachs and so on and so forth. With our dragging economy, it’s hard not to get worked up in all of our fears and doubts. Fortunately for us, God gave us a few remedies to overcome those doubts. Let’s see what the Word says about all of this

Luke 12:22-34
Do Not Worry
22Then Jesus said to his disciples: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[b]? 26Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?

I think that the beauty of this is that we are reminded that God loves us to such an extent that every detail of our lives is important to him. Even things that we do not see. As Americans we have difficulty with patience. The very thing we are shown as children till now, is to want everything right here and now. But God teaches us to do the opposite, which is not to worry, pray in everything, love everyone and be patient.

These lyrics were written with an idea of combining the feel of "The Shining" and "The Excorcist" into a song about how anyone can be saved by the death of Jesus if they just accept Him into their heart and soul, and understand that even the worst sins can be forgiven for those who truly accept and believe in His sacrifice.

Where all all the Christians at these days? I'm not talking about the ones who say they are a believer, but the ones who actually live and love Jesus Christ with true conviction in their hearts Not the ones who'se middle name is compromise, and are barely Christian enough to say that they are Christians. Not the ones who get upset when you try to rebuke them, but the ones who thank you for looking out for them. Not the ones who would let you drive your car while drinking, but the ones who would rather let you punch them in the face because you took their keys away from them. Not the ones who say "yeah I'm a believer" then next thing you know they are cussing up a storm in front of everyobody to look or act cool.

Is it me or what? Because I see so many so called "Christians" wear the tag but don't walk the walk. I don't mean to call anyone hippocrates but c'mon, stand up for your faith! Quit being baby Christians and start walking like men of God! Get right with God, love your neighbor, and quit being of this world! Jesus took severe pain for our sorry-good for nothing- too proud- and ignorant race. With tears he cried just to save us; but for what? So we can kick back and take it easy, thinking that it's an easy road to Heaven once we say a prayer and accept that Jesus is the Son of God? Quit making excuses and stand up for Him! Don't be afraid to take a little pain from repenting sometimes, after all, He did die for us!

PRIDE KILLS!

I'm sorry but I talk to so many Christians, and I try to ask them about lifesttyles that they lead and how scripture teaches us otherwise. Don't get me wrong, I'm far from perfect - and God forbid that I ever act as if I'm holier than thou, and I do admit that sometimes I have a plank in my eye when I try to remove a spec from my brothers eye. But many times, more often than not, I see people proclaiming that they are Christians, and then I see them acting complete opposite.

LET GO OF YOUR PRIDE AND GIVE IT BACK TO THE ENEMY!

If your a true Christian, please post to this blog, and leave a message of how God has used you, or how God has convicted you and made you change your life. Tell me how you are carrying your cross. I think this sort of stuff is very important and I would love to hear about it!

Likewise if you are a Christian and you fall into the "baby Christian" category, then give me the opportunity to pray for you and leave a blog here as well tell me about how you need prayer, conviction, and true repentance! I'm sure others who read this will also pray for you.

Example.

Even if we don't realize it, we follow by example. It is the human way.

In psychology I learned a lot about it. Children are a LOT more likely to do something if they see an example. If a group of humans see that someone needs help, they are hesitant to make a move without seeing someone else doing it first. I am sure we have all noticed that unless someone volunteers to get on the dance floor, the majority of us stand on the side. We also tend to take on the attitudes of others.

There was a time when most people I saw were uncaring pessimists. I thought "what is the point in helping anyone when no one cares?" "Why should I try to spread love when no one else does?"

I eventually learned that I must lead by example and not follow it.

How many of us take the time to lead those around us by example?

Why is leading by example important?

One reason is because we all want good things to happen in our world. If we don't lead by example, how will that happen?

The most important reason is because God asks us to. Our example is living proof of God's glory! By us being examples, we are letting God use us to share his miracles.

A lot of people don't believe because they don't see. A lot of people don't see because most Christians don't lead. Most Christians don't lead because they are not showing example.

How can we expect the world to know that God is real and is amazing unless we show that? How can we convince that the Bible is true unless we ourselves live by it?

"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16.

This song is about the results of how our world is and the direction things are going due to mankind turning their backs on God and how we do not get to choose many of our life's circumstances, instead we inherit many difficulties. I truely believe that if people would all put their hopes and love into God and repent of their wicked ways, then things like Global Warming, human injustice, skyrocketing oil prices, poverty, no jobs, and the list goes on and on, then we wouldn't have these problems. Unfortunaly people are very stubborn in their ways, and therefore we all pay the price for the evil that plagues. The truth is, people would rather put their faith in science, or politics, or just sit back and complain about things, but do nothing about it. Not that science or politics are a bad thing, I believe they are very neccessary. But why put your faith into mankind, which we are imperfect, where God is perfect. The main reason, well 2 main reasons, are 1 pride, and the other greed. Pride and greed are some of the worst things we face because it drives people to make very bad choices.  Furthermore, wisdom is ignored, because of our free-will, people will do what they choose for whatever reasons, regardless of what is right.

 

There is however, despite all these scary things that we face constantly, we can have hope and trust in Jesus Christ. We know things are falling apart on our planet, and it is imprtoant to try to make things better, after all Christians are supposed to be the light and salt of the world. But we also know that this is not our home, and there is a better place for us after our trials and stuggles are over.
