Unbeknownst to my fellow band mates and what I'm certain will come as a total shock to Karla I had 13 inches of hair cut off on Friday to donate to Locks of Love. I did this a few years ago and will probably do so again in the future so long as I am able. If you have never heard of this organization they are "a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis". Locks of Love helps these children regain some of their self esteem by providing custom made hair prosthetics made from donated hair. These hair pieces can cost several thousands of dollars and would be financially out of reach to them or their families without Locks of Love. There are a few guidelines about donating that you will need to know if you consider doing this. These can be found on their website at http://www.locksoflove.org/ . Liam

We had a wonderful time getting together with the folks from the Kansas City Highland Games at their annual volunteer picnic. I seldom get to see these old friends except during the games and other related events and then we are all too busy to catch up on each others lives. When its over we're all too tired. This is the games board's way of saying thanks and it is always fun. Unfortunately for us this year, since we spent most of our time setting up and playing and then tearing down, we still didn't get to spend much time catching up but it was still nice to see old friends and meet some new ones. The weather was nice, the food was good, the beer flowed freely and the whiskey was almost old enough to vote. Who could ask for more than that?
