Current mood:dissapointed

Noone wants to battle a man who has no fans. Noone wants to acknowledge a dude who has nothing to offer. See, us emcees with a following and actual albums out won't waste our time in the studio on a dude who has no fan base and nothing to lose. What do we gain by battling a rapper with no music? An emcee with no stage show?  A cat who ain't even put together enough songs to burn cd's and hand out to people?
Some of ya'll cats are so fuckin lame it's ridiculous. Go get a job at McDonalds, flip a couple burgers, bag a couple fries and by yourself a decent microphone.

Do a show, touch a fan.

Until then, kick rocks!

INTRO-starts out weak gets little better after a bit

TOUCH AND GO-not liking the chorus at all. Not really feeling it at all really

NO ROOM WHERE WE AT-diggin june verse like books and sins verse as well

HYDRO- i never thought I would hear a track kev green is on that I like til now, someone tell sin to stop doing so much, he can adapt to any style, bsr best assest

BOOK AND WEEZY-prob the only thing ill agree with al on is that I not liking this either I mean jy you couldn't even get the "JUST BLAZE" out of there. Nto liking it at all.

DAD-ya this shit deep here and I have to say keep doing this whether they know u or not, it's the deep tracks where the listeners feel like they know u more after the listen to them.

EXHALE-diggin it like your tone in this u got the rugged feel my pain tone, beat not bad and its not too fruity loopy either, millionaires are using fruity loops, its all how u tune everything, if ya know how ya know, course sin had to shit on the track
BROS BEFORE HOES-like the lyrics and all but wrong beat

FAILURE-ya im also really liking failure like how book stay on beat when it changes up,course sin snapped again jesus but I luv it." Ill tell ya a part like a hysterictamy" lol

OVERLOAD-not bad im liking it ..reign not bad where he come from ?lol kinda gay how ya change the pitch of the voice at the end but then again itd really fuk with someone if they was tripping on some good shit lol

KNOW THE LEDGE-HATE SAMPLES but ya know wut not bad. Aint heard no one really take this beat and do ok with it. These other cats are so so

OPEN CIPHER-diggin the way it comes in luv it then you and the beat come in at the same time HOT EVEN JY DIDN SOUND HORRIBLE THIS TIME-think jy best line ever is "the rap version of erkel". Still don't like u tho lol. SIN had best verse to me AL MONEY-not bad kid email me some more shit if ya can no bull

CRACK AND PIFF-sound like ya heard this beat while watching scarface when he was at the club lol think with better beat this sound much better, not feeling it

I-94 CONNECTION-besides the native mating calls its good to mem but ya tlak about 194 connect but he tells milwuakee cats to take him off his hit list, give ppl the impression ya saying south 94 is cool but not north 94

REAL SOLDIER- MY FAVORITE SONG. If u don't like this track you need to get off that soulja boy shitlol this shit is hot luv ths story and beat hot and no flaws at all prob one best local tracks I heard to date. I would deff try to push the hell out of this songs esp to the troops. A+

I AINT GIVING IN-likin this shit omg book breath shit think sin rubbing off on ya on that one lol but im liking feeling it and your pain,"bring your whole team to there knees like a cock fest" lmao does got that toy soldier start listen very closely to the song at the beginning at about :13 into it ull hear a weird sound I don't think was meant to be in there lol

ANYONE CAN GET IT-been liking this since last year lol anyone that rips enicar a new ashsole is ok with me

MEET THE INCREDIBLES-sick of hearing people using that beat but it is only a diss song, even jy is so so on this

1. Intro - eh? Kinda weak... didn't feel too anxious to hear Track 2.

2. Touch N Go - Jy's got flow... Book the style fit this track perfectly. Like the way Sin ended each bar to fit the beat. Simply put, I hate the sample. If I had to say something good about it it would be alternating artists on each hook.

3. No Room Where We At - Beginning vocals seem late and slow. "Ay" is overused. Need more distinction between first verse and chorus. Book im lovin your verse. One suggestion: only flow as fast as your vocals allow you to articulate each and every word... shit got a lil cluttered near the end. If you took this song and cut out everything before and after your verse, including the beat, I'd prolly like it. And maybe take out your vocals and put something from Siah in there. lol jp.

4. Hydro - Beat immediately signaled "bad weezy mixtape filler." I am a pretty big Sin fan, but I wasn't feelin anything too creative and new from him here. Getting Kev Green on a track, I'm not sure how difficult that whole process was, but definitely a good addition to your album. Really too bad I don't like this track at all. Unfortunately I turned it off after Sin's verse. I'll let you know if I ever give it another chance.

5. Book n Weezy - JY i gotta respect you for some great production throughout this album. But, I'd say this one is the worst on the CD as far as mixing goes. Idk if its the beat or what, but I'm not feeling it (keep in mind I'm typing this review as I listen to each song, all thoughts and comment are coming directly as they happen). Also, whats the deal with these <2 minute fillers? In other news, I like the lyrical content.

6. Dad - Honestly what do you expect me to say about this. Shit is real. Shit is deep. Shit is about you. I believe that was your intention and you succeeded in making an emotionally sound poem. You'll lose some listeners do to the fact that they are unable to relate and/or they don't know you as a person (i.e. they don't have a connection to the true meaning of this song).

7. Exhale - Too many fruityloops samles in the beat. I can't judge Jerm, I have an oustanding biased opninion about him. Basically he's the shit he needs toilet paper. Reminds me of "Take Another Step" that we did together a few years back. Book I like the tone you brought, it lines up nicely over the beat. Ketchup and hotdogs line? C'mon bro. People on this site should make an honest effort to loop this chorus and play it prior to any post on inthe262. Overall I'd put this track top 5 on the CD.

8. Bro's Before Hoes - Title is a little cliche for me. I like the song though. Gaurantee people will feel this one if they like music for lyrical content. Good Shit J.

9. Failure - Welcome to my favorite track on the album. And I decided this before Jerm's verse. Book you did an excellent job building your swag and enthusiasm as the beat built. I like this beat, who made it? I been feelin Tuts since day one. His shit is real, each and every time. I can hear it in his voice, that's wassup. One of my favorite Sin verses, "if you had success with your rap you wouldn't be listening to me." <--powerful. Was Jerm chewing gum in his verse? Feel like this one might be your fault JY. I give it a 9 out of 10 overall. Definitely like this one.

10. Overload - Good song I just don't know how I'd like it if it were performed or playing at a bar. However, if this bar was one that didn't serve alcohol and strictly sold marijauna and similar illicit drugs, then show the spot and i'm there. Not sure if I could dance to it wasted and hyper tho. I can never complain when someone actually tells a story in a verse (good shit Reign). JY good shit with the end of the track.

11. Know the Ledge 2008 - I could dance to this one. Creative suggestion: Perform this song, and switch it to "overload" halfway through, keeping the beat of this one. Caught my head bumpin and my knee doin the same to this one. Nicely done.

12. Open Cipher - Al Money's played out, washed up, and gets bad reactions from VRC. I'd prolly replace him with AO or Frizzo. Naw but I thought this was a great idea for a song. I thought about maybe a better position in the tracklisting but I guess in the end of it all this is the only spot I can see it being as well. Even though it wasn't a freestyle, I think the porch-side rap circle feel is defiinitely goin on. Sin's reflects this the best, JY's the worst. Jerm if you read this I didn't step a foot in JY's house with a piece of paper... off the dome with this one. haha. BTW my verse is the best. Disregard this entire song input from me. JY why'd you switch up the rotation? just curious.

13. Crack N Piff - Shit takes too long to get started. I'm impatient by track 13. I woulda moved this up earlier in the listing. Book good flow. Beat's a lil too fast for you I feel, but I think you handled it well for the most part.

14. I-94 Connection - This song is dope. No complaints really.

15. Real Soldier - This should be 2. Straight up. Second favorite track right here. Picturing Book perform this chorus gets me pretty geeked, you should look for some entering spots on base somewhere. I'm tryin to hear this live. Did KA make this beat?

16. I Ain't Givin In - Good to see Ballstar all togethr on a track. Hook is legit is fuck. I feel like this captures your group over the last couplle of years and transmits it into the minds and experiences of the everyday local artist. Beat is perfect for the topic. Good shit throwin it on the end.

17. Anybody Can Get It - Book what are you doin even givin this guy those 5 seconds of publicity. Remember what Dre said, "No such thing as bad publicity." You're helping him by throwing him on there. But wow... it is really bad lol sounds like that new Kids Bop Lil Wayne. Always love a diss track. Can't wait for this next one.

18. Meet The Incredibles - What happened with Siah's verse it sounds terrible. He did it real big on the lyrics but put some headphones on and I can't even appreciate it. Once again, thanks for this. I been waiting for yall to do this. Does Enicar have any tracks against yall? I'm tryin to hear them all in order of when they were made. (Mixtape idea?). JY - Hilarious. Does dude really claim to know Romo in a song? Cuz in that case I know Caron Butler and Max Hardcore, where's my cred? Favorite verse is book's. Real Authoritative. Good Metaphors as well. Myspace line had me rollin. Book this is my favorite verse on this CD as of right now. One thing: The racine backwards jab is pretty weak, especially when everyone has it in their verse. Enicar is a creative name, be honest.

19. Ya'll Don't Want It - I've heard this before. Like on every Southern Smoke Mixtape prior to 2006. I guess labeling it a bonus track makes it okay though. Good call. Flow is nice. JY did it right. By the way I'm replacing 50 Cent and Nate Dogg with you as the new Captain Hook (maybe not Nate Dogg) ha. Second verse is dope. Like the style. 3rd verse is my least favorite.

TOP 10
1. Failure
2. Real Soldier
3. Exhale
4. Aint Givin In
5. Meet the Incredibles
6. Dad
7. Open Cipher
8. Anybody Can Get It
9. Bros before Hoes (minus the title)
10. I-94 Connection

There you have it Ballstar. My honest opinion in under 75 minutes. JY, excellent work. Book way to make this happen. Pretty sure your fanbase has been waiting for something like this. Lyrical 8.1/10. Beat Selection 6/10. <---Didn't put much thought into this. Take most of my feedback from the individual song reviews.

YOUR FEEDBACK IS APPRECIATED!!

BY ADAM JUZA:

Jay Novel feat. JY - Book and Weezy – catchy beat, very streamlined and tight, and by that I mean the vocals match up perfectly with the track, I'm can't believe nobody has ever use the "My Space" line before, that's pretty good.  (Looking back at this one, to me, this is probably the track that I like the most and the one that screams "this is the BallStar sound") (A)

Jay Novel and T.O.H. - Crack and Piff – Beat sounds like video game music, from a Mega Man level or something, which kind of made me laugh but it's still catchy, you still sound like DMX sometimes to me, like on this track. (A)

Jay Novel – Intro – man you say fag a lot in your lyrics, gotta love the Shaq reference, seems like a good intro track for the CD, if it is in fact the first track (B)

Jay Novel – Dad – sentimental, sounds like a mix between a 70's Motown track and a Kayne West song, surprised you drop your real name, nice, it actually grows on me the more I listen to it (B)

Jay Novel - Anybody Can Get It – total misdirection on the intro, I like that, but the beat seems pretty common after that, your flow and volume has definitely gotten better from the early days, too many name drops which makes the song too topical, lol, I guarantee if you listen to this track in 5 years you'll be like "wow, who did he just mention?" (C)

TUTS feat. Jay Novel Sin and JY - I Ain't Givin In – Eminem Toy Soldiers is the first thing that comes to my mind when this track starts, it's unique in it's own right however, I like instrumental/choral experiments like this in hip-hop/rap, great approach (B)

JY Feat. Jay Novel and Sin - Touch and Go – very club, good build up of the instrumentals on the track, I would have to say that so far this is the signature dance track on the album, catchy (A)

Jay Novel - Bros Before Hoes – I was wondering how long it would take you to call a track this, too mellow for me, the lyrics are good however (C)

Jay Novel feat. Joey D and Sin - I-94 Connection – wow I've noticed so far that a lot of the tracks are yours and you're featured on a lot, before you weren't so prominent, to me the track seems like an average hip-hop offering now a-days (C)

JY feat. Jay Novel and Reign – Overload – not a huge fan of this one, I'm always more of a person who really enjoyed the beat, and this one doesn't do a lot for me, there are some parts are good though (1:22 to 1:40), to the untrained ear, it sounds like you are saying "Tupac" (slanged, long a) instead of "Too Packed"; a house parties back in the day, good times… (C)

June C feat. Jay Novel Joey D and B Dubb - Know the Ledge 2008 – holy crap, remember the snowboarding game SSX Tricky?  This almost sounds like a track from there, haha.  It's the base, sax, female vocal combo that does it.  Or, it almost sounds like some of the music from Ocean's Eleven.  Despite that, I like this one.  Who does the third set of vocals (at 1:40, is it Joey D)?  Whoever it is they fit perfectly and just kill it.  (A)

Jay Novel - Real Soldier – can't place my finger on it, but I like it, it's probably the track again, but your barking voice works well with it.  Shit dude, I could see this playing on like a FOX or ESPN promo for the NFL, "boy you ain't a soldier" blasting as Steven Jackson runs over someone (A)

Jerm Feat. Jay Novel and Sin – Exhale – beat is okay, the lyrics are good though, actually enjoyed that, "invisible scars", great line (B)

Jay Novel feat. TUTS Sin and Jerm – Failure – the beat sounds like another Kayne clone, but the vocals definitely are not, (well yours aren't, I think I just heard TUTS, and he kind of does, lol, oh well), to me it just seems like an average track, but that's because I'm not a fan slow beats, holy shit, who blows up at 2:18?  Is that for real? (C)

Sin Feat. Jay Novel and Kev Green – Hydro – lol, I don't know what to say, the "hydro" voice in the background is hilarious, but that might just be me.  It's weird, but that alone makes it grow on you.  Bullshit if you do anything you say in that song, lol. (B)

June C feat. Jay Novel and Sin - No Room Where We At – at first I thought it sounded like another club track, but not after the lyrics start.  Your verse definitely adds some excitement to this one; otherwise it seems kind of slow and tired. (C)

Ball Star - Ya'll Don't Want It – It starts promising, good beat, but I don't like the chorus, seems like same old same old.  I don't like they style of whomever does the second verse, the rest do good however. (C)

Jay Novel feat. JY Sin Al Money and A.G. - Open Cipher – lol, nice start.  It seems original, start with some beat boxing and then add in some background loops.  It also has the feel like you guys are just doing this on the street corner, adlibbing. "If Jynx is Mr. Cingular, I'm Mr.Verizon", nice, and I heard you laughing in the background. (B)

JY feat. Siah Sin and Jay Novel - Meet the Incredibles – this is the one I was waiting for, because I thought that since it was the title track that you guys would go all out.  I wasn't disappointed, but I wasn't blown away either.  Enjoyed the beat, it felt like classic rap, instead a lot of this new age garbage that a lot of people put out now.  I'm not a huge fan of the extremely long tracks, honestly 3 or 4 minutes is usually good enough.  You definitely have a distinct voice; it was sometimes hard to pick out the other guys, except for maybe JY who always had been noticeable, going back to like 2004. (B)
