Jay Novel feat. JY - Book and Weezy – catchy beat, very streamlined and tight, and by that I mean the vocals match up perfectly with the track, I'm can't believe nobody has ever use the "My Space" line before, that's pretty good. (Looking back at this one, to me, this is probably the track that I like the most and the one that screams "this is the BallStar sound") (A)
Jay Novel and T.O.H. - Crack and Piff – Beat sounds like video game music, from a Mega Man level or something, which kind of made me laugh but it's still catchy, you still sound like DMX sometimes to me, like on this track. (A)
Jay Novel – Intro – man you say fag a lot in your lyrics, gotta love the Shaq reference, seems like a good intro track for the CD, if it is in fact the first track (B)
Jay Novel – Dad – sentimental, sounds like a mix between a 70's Motown track and a Kayne West song, surprised you drop your real name, nice, it actually grows on me the more I listen to it (B)
Jay Novel - Anybody Can Get It – total misdirection on the intro, I like that, but the beat seems pretty common after that, your flow and volume has definitely gotten better from the early days, too many name drops which makes the song too topical, lol, I guarantee if you listen to this track in 5 years you'll be like "wow, who did he just mention?" (C)
TUTS feat. Jay Novel Sin and JY - I Ain't Givin In – Eminem Toy Soldiers is the first thing that comes to my mind when this track starts, it's unique in it's own right however, I like instrumental/choral experiments like this in hip-hop/rap, great approach (B)
JY Feat. Jay Novel and Sin - Touch and Go – very club, good build up of the instrumentals on the track, I would have to say that so far this is the signature dance track on the album, catchy (A)
Jay Novel - Bros Before Hoes – I was wondering how long it would take you to call a track this, too mellow for me, the lyrics are good however (C)
Jay Novel feat. Joey D and Sin - I-94 Connection – wow I've noticed so far that a lot of the tracks are yours and you're featured on a lot, before you weren't so prominent, to me the track seems like an average hip-hop offering now a-days (C)
JY feat. Jay Novel and Reign – Overload – not a huge fan of this one, I'm always more of a person who really enjoyed the beat, and this one doesn't do a lot for me, there are some parts are good though (1:22 to 1:40), to the untrained ear, it sounds like you are saying "Tupac" (slanged, long a) instead of "Too Packed"; a house parties back in the day, good times… (C)
June C feat. Jay Novel Joey D and B Dubb - Know the Ledge 2008 – holy crap, remember the snowboarding game SSX Tricky? This almost sounds like a track from there, haha. It's the base, sax, female vocal combo that does it. Or, it almost sounds like some of the music from Ocean's Eleven. Despite that, I like this one. Who does the third set of vocals (at 1:40, is it Joey D)? Whoever it is they fit perfectly and just kill it. (A)
Jay Novel - Real Soldier – can't place my finger on it, but I like it, it's probably the track again, but your barking voice works well with it. Shit dude, I could see this playing on like a FOX or ESPN promo for the NFL, "boy you ain't a soldier" blasting as Steven Jackson runs over someone (A)
Jerm Feat. Jay Novel and Sin – Exhale – beat is okay, the lyrics are good though, actually enjoyed that, "invisible scars", great line (B)
Jay Novel feat. TUTS Sin and Jerm – Failure – the beat sounds like another Kayne clone, but the vocals definitely are not, (well yours aren't, I think I just heard TUTS, and he kind of does, lol, oh well), to me it just seems like an average track, but that's because I'm not a fan slow beats, holy shit, who blows up at 2:18? Is that for real? (C)
Sin Feat. Jay Novel and Kev Green – Hydro – lol, I don't know what to say, the "hydro" voice in the background is hilarious, but that might just be me. It's weird, but that alone makes it grow on you. Bullshit if you do anything you say in that song, lol. (B)
June C feat. Jay Novel and Sin - No Room Where We At – at first I thought it sounded like another club track, but not after the lyrics start. Your verse definitely adds some excitement to this one; otherwise it seems kind of slow and tired. (C)
Ball Star - Ya'll Don't Want It – It starts promising, good beat, but I don't like the chorus, seems like same old same old. I don't like they style of whomever does the second verse, the rest do good however. (C)
Jay Novel feat. JY Sin Al Money and A.G. - Open Cipher – lol, nice start. It seems original, start with some beat boxing and then add in some background loops. It also has the feel like you guys are just doing this on the street corner, adlibbing. "If Jynx is Mr. Cingular, I'm Mr.Verizon", nice, and I heard you laughing in the background. (B)
JY feat. Siah Sin and Jay Novel - Meet the Incredibles – this is the one I was waiting for, because I thought that since it was the title track that you guys would go all out. I wasn't disappointed, but I wasn't blown away either. Enjoyed the beat, it felt like classic rap, instead a lot of this new age garbage that a lot of people put out now. I'm not a huge fan of the extremely long tracks, honestly 3 or 4 minutes is usually good enough. You definitely have a distinct voice; it was sometimes hard to pick out the other guys, except for maybe JY who always had been noticeable, going back to like 2004. (B)
