I just played my first show on keyboards with Girls On Film. They
were thoroughly impressed with the results and feel confident that will
work out. Photos should turn up soon.
In other news, I am trying to get things sorted with my domain manager since forwarding seems to be broken.

People have been asking me about the upcoming shows I have with Girls On Film. Just so there is no confusion, I will be playing keyboards for Girls On Film. I will not be performing as The Viirus. The idea to ask them came about last June or July when I spoke to them about it, and how Chris Miller kept telling me to join them. After a month or so, they asked me outright. We practiced last weekend in preparation for the first show, and it feels like it will work out.
Come on out. For once, I feel like I am part of a band.
November 20th - Gainesville, FL // Backstage Lounge w/ Ars Phoenix, Long Strange Day.
December 4th - Jacksonville, FL // Club TSI w/ Juicy Pony
January 15th - Jacksonville, FL // CLub TSI Karma Explosion 2 with tons of bands
January 16th - Gainesville, FL // Backstage Lounge w/ The Soular System.

The next album and EP or whatever are still coming. Really, they are...but I am taking it slow with these. I am trying to deliver something better than ten terse badly mastered tracks for novelty's sake. One will be the next focused release and one will be a collection of stuff that was left behind. Bonus tracks...
I find my work splitting into two groups. In the first group is the song oriented stuff. The stuff that is mildly accessible. The second group is basically all of the stuff I do not plan on performing live mostly because of the lack of live (life) input. Stuff that would work if I felt like being a boring guy on a laptop with no performance skill. The first group I want to be on my releases. The second group, I would like to give the respect it deserves from me....but I just dont know what to do with it as of yet.
I have been spending a considerable amount of time sorting through material that was shelved a few years back due to lack of interest or identity crises. This has curbed some of the progress I have been making with my current musical activities (vocals) and has proved to be cumbersome and outright infuriating. Some of it is rewarding though. Some of it should have seen the light of day miles back. I will just chalk it up to not being "the right time."
Most of it sounds disorganized and muddy from a mixing and mastering perspective. Since I have a few years more experience than I did when alot of the music was written or recorded, I have been fixing ALOT of mistakes I made back then.
There have been a few things that have stood in the way. I have a Digidesign Audiomedia III which does not work in, basically, any PC. (alot of my recording used this.) I FINALLY sorted out firewire issues on my PC. (If you need firewire on PC, shell out for a PCI card with a TI chipset. All others will be semi-functional.) I recently suffered the death of a laptop which was equal parts sketchpad, studio, and live rig. It has been replaced with an desktop system which will travel out to shows with me. I see a rack case in my future.
I will also begin the moving process in a week or so...and that is always stressfull. Even if it is just a move across town. Among other things, just living life. This year has been better than the last.
Sigh. Time flies. Thank you for your attention. -Adam

Yes I realize the sleeveless shirt with the skull on the side is extremely homo. It fits well and Robet Inhuman from Realicide flashed me his cock. Chris thinks that my image, plus my lighting, hypnotizes people into a state of eroticism. If you feel the same, encourage more handjob action at my shows. It might help tage the edge off this Gainesville moratorium on electronic music.

I recently purchased an Ion Ied04 drum pad. I also picked up a Korg EA-1 while I was at it.
Both are being sent back to the sellers. Both are dead.
On another note, rehearsal is going well.
Maybe photos soon.

Ok, I am back. I am well rested and feeling much better about life. Sorry if I worried any of you. I have some updates!!!Here is the news you are probably waiting for.YES I am working on a new album (read; CD).It will be out in the next two months.YES I am singing on it.NO I am not doing beercore.Nextly, for those of you who enjoy my music and have not made a purchase, I still have CDs for sale. $8 for "Spare Parts...", $12 for "Delay...", and $15 for both. (All prices include shipping.)http://www.theviirus.com/mailorder.htmlOnwardly, Electric Visions (my label) has a myspace. Join Us! We do graphic design, mixing, mastering, and sometimes keyboard repair. It is just starting, but things should come around in a month or so. myspace.com/electricvisionssocietyEnthusiastically, I have started a blog. I will be reviewing music since I cannot find music reviews that I like. Maybe you have the same problem?http://variablefidelity.blogspot.com/Efficiently, Over the last two weeks I have been running and/or working out every morning or whenever I have been able to wake at a decent time. It is definitely the season for it and I have felt so much better. Get out guys!Begrudginly, I know alot of bands are going the facebook route; I am not. The reason is simple; I DO NOT TRUST FACEBOOK WITH MY INFORMATION. They have made it very clear that there sole interest is how to bilk your information from you, turn a profit by selling it to others, and create a demographic database that you are not allowed to remove your information from. (unlike myspace, which stores nothing after deletion and explicitly states this in the TOS.) As this does concern the copyrights I hold for my work, I cannot trust them considering how irresponsibly and impulsively they are changing the terms of service to line their pockets.Social utility my ass!In closing, thank you all for your patience. The next CD should be out soon. Sorry for my lack of world touring. Maybe when The Faint, Ladytron, or Nine Inch Nails ask me. :-)Speaking of...April ; The Faint / Ladytron in Atlanta, Ga.May ; Nine Inch Nails / Janes Addiction / Streetsweepers in FL.June ; No Doubt in Tampa.July ; Modwheelmood in West Palm Beach, FL.September ; Depeche Mode in Tampa and Ft. Do not let me confuse you. I may be keeping my mouth shut about my current state but the wheel is turning.
* Music is going and going. I have been lackadaisically writing out stuff without the pressure to release anything. Some of it has honestly been surprising me. Maybe you guys will hear it soon.
* I have been compiling the numerous scattered lyric arrangements that I seem to keep accumulating but never really using. That is changing! I am getting better at writing songs and feel more comfortable with my voice.
* I have been spending alot of time honing my audio engineering skills as they apply to the mixing and arranging of my music. I can no longer just shove all of my percussion through a distortion and haphazardly brickwall my audio.
* I am writing, and actually making progress, through...um...my pseudo-autobiography composed of various short stories that are both rooted in reality and removed from it completely. Some of you reading this post....you are already part of it.
* I sometimes wish I had a band to play keys for instead of forging whatever path this is by myself.
* Nine Inch Nails live will be the best concert you have ever seen.
-Adam
P.S. ; If you think I am changing, you are right. I am giving up what I became in an effort to be closer to who I always was.

Hello fans, musicians, artists, compatriots, co-conspirators, ect. I have signed up for reverbnation's fanreach email thing. I signed up because I am tired of trying to reach people through myspace and this is a great tool. This allows me to contact all of you via email instead of myspace. None of you are automatically signed up. Each of you have to opt-in. I will not spam you and will not trade your email address with anyone. Of anything that could come of joining my email list, that is EXACTLY what I hate about joining email lists. Since things have been quiet as of lately, I will only email you guys in the event that there are shows, news about releases, and other things of direct interest. I look forward to hearing from all of you. -Adam

I am steadily making progress on my next album. I plan to have it complete, mastered, and released around the August/September area. It has an obscenely long title. Yes, a really really really long title. The title is so long that the album's cover art will be very text heavy. It will also be...colourful. Sorry, I will not be singing on this album (next one...I promise). No I will not be doing any cover songs.
A new website is being planned. Still minimal and very few visual changes.
The gears of the Electric Visions Research & Design department are turning. One of my back burner projects is planning out a portable modular synthesizer. It is not my own design. I will be building other peoples stuff (Blacet, CGS.). More than likely, It will be housed in a 6U SKB Roto rack case; for durability and portability.
Another project is building upon my current lighting rig. While I cannot currently run DMX, I am drafting concepts for ultra-efficient methods of housing, transporting, and rigging LED lighting. Stage quality without the lighting crew. Just need to get a handle on DMX. Until then, there will be no massive folding LED screens and no LED video walls. Sorry to disappoint.
A more pressing matter. How in the name of live music do people efficiently transport keyboard stands?! My god....I only have three and they are bulky. Any input would be helpful.
On a more personal note, I have been running, swimming, and lifting more. Fitter. Happier. More productive.
Until next time. -Adam

Due to some moderate neurasthenia, I have not made much progress in my gear making efforts. I have spent a great deal of the time that I spend not making music, working, or studying, on reading, drawing, drafting, ect. I have come to a few discoveries.
1. I want to add some modular synthesizers to my set up. It would make live performance even more chaotic but I like the idea.
2. The most practical of modular cases for me, the doepfer suitcase, is really expensive and provides the wrong voltage for what I want to build. I could just buy doepfer modules but I want to build some stuff instead. Doepfer is expensive, the euro is ridiculous, and I have read not good things about their "quality".
3. I might have found a hard case that can fit my BOTH my pro-one and mg-1.
4. I might be obsessing about this too much. :-)

In an effort to learn more about electronics, incorporate more hardware into my home recording practices, and expand the selection of musical tools available to me, I pledge to not purchase any new or used "pre-manufactured" music gear from 04-01-2008 to 04-01-2009. Instead I will focus on building my own gear from DIY electronics projects.
I also pledge to keep a journal of my findings.
I feel it is an appropriate move for me considering my current transition stage to hands on synthesis and analog FX. Thus far I am planning on building 6 pieces. More will probably follow.

The tracklist for "Spare Parts & Expert Repairs" is complete. It will be available for sale soon; probably before the 23rd. It includes 5 new tracks, a remix from Lissajou, and a special revision of an old favourite.
Last saturday, I played in Tallahassee. I reconnected with some acquaintances and made some new friends. I saw great performances from Capstan Drive, Unicorn Hard-On, Leslie Keffer, KeepBullFighting, The Penetralia, Kristin Calvarese, and Darker Florida.
Award for the best new artist goes to Kristin Calvarese. The last time I saw her, she had a few FX pedals and was making some bonkers feedback with a great deal of sonic dynamic. She played this show with alot of pedals, a keyboard plus sequencer, and was conjuring merzbowian evil from above Tallahassee to descend upon the venue (oaf house) and scream at us all. It was godly. I stepped outside...even with earplugs.
Award for the best use of korg electribes goes to Unicorn Hard-On. It was rhythmic and droney. I felt like i was in an asbestos riddled detroit warehouse alone in the dark. Her tapes rock.
Award for best instrumentation goes to Darker Florida. Hand build synthesizers and deft use of space fx plus an electric piano that sounded like a gameboy.
Hanging around the venue/house, I could not help but feel really alone since I knew only 4 people there. It took virtually no time to get to know people and feel like I really belonged here. Mind you, I am in very few ways as noisy as most of the artists on the bill. I felt like some sort of synthpop transplant that people would look at and say "dude...i could make this on fruityloops;" or something to the effect of not being cool enough to play there.
I was so happy with peoples responses. I felt nothing but praise and encouragement. It made me feel like I am doing something right.

The new year is upon me. Things are going well. In regards to the state of affairs;
My PC desktop is now DEAD. Dead dead absolutely dead. The drives are alive. This has set me back on tracking vocals since my nice digidesign sound card now has no home. I have still yet to track vocals for two semi-new tracks; "Custom Model" and "Defective Inside".
My solutions are as follows; I shall be hand drawing my fliers and probably some of my album art now. I will be purchasing a new soundcard soon. Probably something firewire. This will set back the progress of "Spare Parts & Expert Repairs" but it should be out in February. I am not worried since I have shows to keep me busy.
The lighting system works well and shall accompany me to my shows. It fits inside of a small suitcase; fixtures, dimmer, and cables.
Till then, or till I see some of you, Electric Visions and the things that dreams are made of. -Adam
