Brethren, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard from the beginning. And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it. “For this commandment which I command you today is not too mysterious for you, nor is it far off.
Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith, He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul, But he who is careless of his ways will die. “Therefore you shall love the LORD your God, and keep His charge, His statutes, His judgments, and His commandments always. This is the first and great commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak.”

Jesus Christ our Light:

We must follow His example.

When you accept Jesus Christ as your savior, you are born of the Spirit of God.

But as many as received Him, to them He gave THE RIGHT to become CHILDREN OF GOD, to those who BELIEVE in HIS NAME: 13 who were BORN, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but OF GOD.

When you are born of the Spirit, you want to be born from the water also, and follow Christ's example in obedience.
John 3:5
Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

We all need to be baptized.
