Happy to report our new album Flying Dreams (F-ire label, Proper distribution) was released last Monday!! I went to a few shops in town to bring some flyers and posters but really just wanted to see what the albums would look like in the shop shelves. They look nice... If you would like a copy, you can go to town or take your orders from the internet, and hopefully soon from itunes and my website too.
And today, I am very excited because I'm off on tour again to show the album to the world (or a small percentage of crazy jazz lovers) with two of my favourite people and musicians, Joe Auckland and Ivo Neame. We are travelling together in one car (quite handy!) and will be doing a lot of dates throughout the country in the next month, just playing fun jazz, and nothing else. (Well melancolic jazz too but still fun to play). The tour is supported by Jazz Services and Arts Council England, which definitely helps-crazy me didn't apply for funding for our tour last year- Can't wait to just play and hang and see all the beautiful places that MY country has to offer (I was recently "naturalised", which hasn't quite sank in yet, but it's great, I've been singing God Save the Queen a lot recently, in fact I'm sure Ivo and Joe will have learned it too by the end of the tour in the confinements of our little car)
So anyway, next stop is Devizes, then Herefordshire where my mum lives so we'll be staying with her, in her peaceful retreat in the middle of nowhere, which will be nice. Then Wales, then up to Scotland, Lake District, then whoooop back down to Devon, Bristol, Cornwall, Somerset, Isle of Wight, then London, where the official album launch will take place on Sunday 26th October at the Vortex! Please come, it should be a great night. And then (with bags under our eyes) back up to Birmingham, with the addition of Paul Clarvis! And in November a couple of isolated ones in Essex (featuring Mick Hutton and George Hart) and Leeds... Yes, a lot of driving.. But not to worry, we'll be sharing the driving.. Or at least Ivo and Joe will. More drinking for me? No, no, healthy healthy tour! No every morning fried breakfasts this time round. We're even taking our tennis rackets with us.. I will report back and let you know if we did succeed on the healthy front.. I know what you're thinking. (If you've read this far, that is).
