Nothin Less tipped for top...
THEY may still be in their teens but Kendal College band Nothin Less has been creating a big stir on the local music scene.
Nothin Less have been together for less than six months but already they're being tipped for the top with their unusual take on pop.
Mixing countless style into their music metal, hip-hop, soul, pop, punk and goth could have been more of a dog's dinner than a crowd winner but the recipe seems to have worked for Nothin less..
The band are: Craig Harrison, guitar; Jessica Samuels, lead vocals; Jason Samuels, bass; Elliot Perin, lead vocals; Matthew Harris, rapper; and Jake Newton, drums.
After leaving school with only a handful of GCSEs between them, Nothin Less have found themselves propelled from bottom of the class to star pupils following a gig at The Park in Kendal earlier this year.
"It's really weird," said guitarist Craig of the new-found attention. "At school we didn't do very well and didn't get much attention. Now, suddenly, everyone is talking about us."
On the back of their Park performance, the band has played Warrington University and received airplay on local radio.
"When we played at the Park the band before us were really good I was scared out of my wits and was dreading going on," added Craig. "But when we came on people were fighting their way to the front I've never had so many compliments in my life."
For now, the band are preparing to play at The Brewery, Kendal, on June 16 as part of a college gig and another Warrington uni- versity gig in the pipeline.
Rich Satterthwaite, the music performance lecturer at Kendal College, said: "We're expecting pretty big things from them.
They have got what it takes to make it."
The Nothin Less two-track demo Take It Or Leave It will be available at their gigs.
