alright, an update long over due, and weve been away from the internet for too long.  first things...this friday there is a show/party at the performance space on west street in new milford.  West street is down town located off of railroad street of course.  there will be a very special set by open star clusters taking the form of a band composed of groove street house residents sean heslin and nate sadowski. scott will also play, an installation by dana will be in effect, cj ovitt is going to jam out count jammenstein style, and more to be announced there. this show is also a release for many things...an album by rick visser, a tape by rick visser, and an ep by rick visser, the band mix up mix tape, no audience/fun effects show recordings, an old halloween cd, plus i will have some tiny fox cds.  the big merch repletion project!!  this is a show to show all the productivity.  an explurgation of work and whats going on.  so please come come come, it will be fantastic, again, that begins at seven.

next order of business, we have some new songs up there! listen to those.

also, if youve gone to the website than you noticed its fucked...no worries, im finishing up the new one, and its looking good...heres a qoute from jacob. "no rick, it looks nice." so do not fear, a new host was just what the doctor ordered, and really im proud of what a limited knowledge of html was able to accomplish. so look out for that before or slightly after the new year.

also, the market place is closed???  im not sure on the details of this, but..man, it looks grim at this point, so i'll have to talk to andy and see what is going on and what can be done.  but on the twenty ninth regardless there will be a show, if not there than here at our very own groove street abode.

also a couple more show series type things are in the process of being worked out so be on the lookout for those.  good ideas...good attitudes.

jungle noise has recorded a couple songs at groove street and they sound fantastic.  their album is gonna rock!! and i hear that and the like is going to make a release soon too...radical radical radical.  and dont get me started on those white suns..i heard they just recorded with travus and that it sounds sweeeeeet.

so yeah, happy holidays folks, thats all for now.  be sure to come out on friday and keep checking back as alot of things feel like they will burst soon.  thank you thank you thank you...

Who had a totally rad time last night at the vfw? i know i and the rest of the dinosaurs did...if anyone has any pictures post em up, im sure wed all be interested in seeing.

Here are some newsies...

Dana's compiled literary journal/zine is coming to a finish and will drop soon im sure.

The first no audience show has been computerized and put onto a cd, along with FUN EFFECTS! (an idea in the same vain of thinking and playing) and i know that these two things are anticipated and late, but still enjoyable.

The website is being plugged away at in a most dilligent manner.  It's slow moving and often times frustrating, especially when you lack the experience, but we have what it takes, so keep checkin it!

The compilation cd is also coming along slowly, but songs are none the less sort of rolling in, heh...if you have any songs you would like to submit to it, now is the time folks...now is the time.  The thing about a comp is that, it relies much on other peoples contributions, and the motivation of those prospectively involved...so...up off yr duff, and submit some stuff!

Soon there is to be a release party for a butload of musics, where and when im not sure of, possibly the eleventh? but what is more important is the music being placed into the world..which is.....

-fun effects/no audience 1

-a tape by open star clusters

-requiem (dan witrock) latest cd

-an album by thank you mr keating, not sure which one, but everyone has been waiting a long time regardless, and cannot wait.

-punk album etc... by cancer dance

-and maybe we can squeeze out a dinos thing by then.

hah, any more? anyone else? now is the time to step forward!

ok, all that said, rad things are happenning and always happenning so keep in touch, dont stop the body rock, keep creatin' and toss some stuff our way every now and then eh? a demo, a photo, a painting...whatevs, we love that sort of thing.  until later,

love

rick.

Rick and I are in the process of manufacturing a little web site for the community, just so we can throw a bunch more information in one place. It'll be nice. Progress is slow, but it's coming along.

We've also made a Tape Reels internet forum thing where it'll be much easier to answer questions people have and perhaps foster some actual discussion... wouldn't that be crazy?
check it: http://p067.ezboard.com/btapereelsforeyescollective

Myspace--and the rest of the internet, for that matter--is super convenient, but extremely limited as far as creating a valuable, dedicated community (y'know, with substance and all that) is concerned, so... make a forums account and, more importantly, create create create!!!

update: THE EMAIL ADDRESS IS NOW OPERATIONAL. Sorry about that, hotmail or me fucked something up the first time I set it up. Now things can be sent.

What's up folks? It's zine times in New Milly (and outlying areas).

If anyone has drawings, photos, writings (poetry, shorts, splurts of prose) YOU SHOULD CONTRIBUTE DUDERS.

What else....... Okay, hand stuff in either at a TapeReels event or scan that shit (colloquial use, no offense) and send via email to ourdeadreality@hotmail.com

Mmm mmm hotmail. It would be preferable if you sent multiple creations instead of one, but that's cool too. Whatever. The zine itself is going to be advertised as a sort of "radical arts and politics" thing. First issue's thematic is consumptive culture, and by that I mean both a culture based on consuming products and a culture with an ugly case of the tubercular disease consumption, hacking up blood, lung tissue and such as it consumes.

Your art doesn't have to be relevant to this. The basic vibe is to just celebrate creativity (that is, living outside the box) and explore ways to avoid being a jockey-consciously or not-for controlling ways of thinking. Because nihilism and apathy are for selfish assholes.

werd. stay real.

Hello, for awhile now I've remarked that i need to "do a blog" on here, and about three days ago i finally did, it was pretty long, but yesterday i was to find out that it was all in vain, for to my dismay the entry did not appear here, for whatever reason.  Now i feel sort of at a loss for words, and cant remember exactly what i had to say.  i know lately ive been sort of fleeting and flakey, but i assure you that tape reels for eyes is still kicking, and we have some very good things in the works.  that said....

Lately we've been having these no audience sort of shows, or just massive drum circles, and I've been meaning to say how incredible these are, and how happy it makes me to be a part of them.  Dana remarked that it's the future of music, and it seems as though it is the last direction in which music can progress.  The days of the virtuoso are numbered, there is no technique, or theory, we are all musicians.  this has always been a staple idea of those involved with tape reels for eyes.  The belief that anyone can and should create, self taught, by any means, and that the most important thing is creation.  I can honestly say, one of the best feelings is being lost in the physical exhaustion of frantically playing drums, and being overwhelmed by sound, looking up and realizing that i have never talked to half of the people currently beating in the same frantic state as I.  This is tape reels for eyes.

At this current junction we find ourselves surrounded by summer.  Surrounded by the endless tape loop.  Summer has always been wonderfull around these parts.  Swimming nearly every day, hiking, riding bikes, we are truly surrounded by a magnificent amount of beauty, and wonderfull creative people.  This brings about the idea of a summer series of shows, music, art, happennings, get togethers, words and ideas, entitled

"The endless tape loop (of the endless summer)"

-shows

-art exhibited all over town

-star parties

-a mail art collaboration

-recording day

-garage tour

And many many more things to be added.  Keep checking back, and keeping in touch as we grow and run with creativity all summer long.

thats all for now, love always

rick.

hello! we here at the tape reels for eyes love life reciprocation department are very excited about all that has been happenning as of late.  the shows, the people, the new faces and sounds, its truly wonderfull.  who says winter is for hibernating and being counter productive?  anyway the time has come, (as far as im concerned) to place our contribution into the world, our contribution as tape reels for eyes i should say, and it will be decidedly so a compilation.  A collaboration of yr songs, sounds words, art, pictures, etc etc etc! i have informatory papers that i will give to people, but i also feel like myspace is a great venue to spread the word instantly! so if yr interested in this idea, leave a comment, or email, or message Tape reels for eyes and we can do it up.  we would like things from everyone and anyone that touches or has been touched by this particular area of the country, so start gaining ideas, and get in touch.  more information will trickle down as it develops.
