Hello everyone, this is Autry from Midnight Masses. I started this band initially as a way for me to cathartically process my reflection of my dad's death, and while he will always serve as inspiration in some way, I can't help but remember any who are no longer with us that touched my life. This song was written for a Christmas time performance for TimeOut NY, in memory of a close friend who lived with AIDS for many years. I'm really glad we got the chance to not only pay tribute to him, but to all those who have died of AIDS, those still fighting it, and those who are left behind with amazing experiences and timeless memories of friends who've passed away.

We're encouraging anyone who can to give charitably to find a cure and to help those living with AIDS. All proceeds from the sale of this track will go to benefit the National AIDS Fund and the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.

Thanks for listening,

We recording this back in the early Spring when we were touring with Trail of Dead. It's live recordings of 4 songs that have yet to be released- "Burial Song", "I Was A Desperate Man", "Walk On Water", & "Debtor's Song".

Thanks to Sean for his words and guiding the Daytrotter ship, Johnnie for the illustration, and Mike for his help in the studio. It was a great time and we're really happy with the way these songs turned out.  Check out some of Sean's thoughts below and head over to Daytrotter to download the tracks.  Thanks!

Words by Sean Moeller

We are hurting. So we make it go away by feeling everything in that pain, by letting it consume us in ways that we've never let anything ever consume us. We are welcoming a full invasion of these awful and ruthless emotions - the ones that always dress themselves in the devil's black, with rotten-ed out eyes and breaths that make paint peel from the gloomiest walls. We want the pain to pour itself on, breaking us down into the pulp that we are so that when all of the rattling and tumult is finished, we'll be able to open our eyes again, wipe them clean of the dirt and the water, start to hear again something other than a terror-like roar of "healing" or "improvement" and we'll see that most everything is still as it was when the onslaught began however long ago it was. This process is not really for everyone, as it seems to take you to the depths of a body where all of the horrors are amplified after they've been introduced to you, but then again, nothing's universal and when someone is broken, they'll try anything to not be broken anymore, even if the side effects are scary. Here we are stood, face to face with our darkest thoughts, our regrets and all of the lingering sadness - the words that will forever be trapped and unsaid...
