What a sad day xxxx i never met Lex but we became friends....she never told me she was ill until one day in the summer when there was no moon. I was in the middle of recording STEP UP when..out of the blue...i started to sing this song...it came from nowhere but i pressed record...and just sang. The song is all over the place!...It needs sorting and recording...but...i sent it to her .. and she loved it ! I'm so glad i did...i'll leave it up for a few days...and then record it properly for her . She was a remarkable person...she just had this wisdom which you get from appreciating life. We should all try to be like this...never let a moment slip by....life is special and to be treasured and i will treasure Lex's memory by finishing this song for her...my sweet lexi xxx

Current mood:starry
The first bit of STEP UP- the Prince/diamonds bit - is based on a true story....A friend was on the staff of one of the Jordanian princes. One day a group of merchants arrived in one of the huge rooms in the palace and unfurled a huge red carpet. On it they sprinkled thousands of diamonds for the Mighty Prince to take his pick. He did. Then...they rolled up the carpet and left. Later that night, my friend went back in the dark of night ...with a torch...to see if any daimonds had rolled into the corners of the room but sadly..none had !! As a songwriter, it always amazes me how i store up these stories and they just emerge at the right moment. In the context of this song.. love cannot be bought and is worth more than all the diamonds in the world....

Well, it's all done!!  I do hope you like it... I still really like it ....such a very special song to me. It is about love: perfect, true love and how we must bend and rise to teach other to achieve it...and to keep it always..  xxxxxxxx

Many thanks to you for all the requests to hear the brand new song..only written in last few days. Here it is... very rough...almost acappella... recorded in my studio on the South Downs...if you listen carefully you can hear me wriggling about on my special guitar chair and do listen out for the power drill half way thru!!!
Since putting it down yesterday, i have already added another verse and an extra chorus at the end. It will be a 2 and 3 part harmony song ...with glockenspiel playing a very catchy riff. Very subtle guitar. I really like it ....it is a very special song to me. It is about Love: perfect, true love and how we must bend and rise to teach other to achieve it. xxxxxxx

UNTIL I SEE YOU AGAIN © 2009 Micah Atwell. All Rights Reserved.

Last month Micah asked me a dream question.Would i like to put harmonies on his new song,© Until i See you Again and sing just what i felt the song needed? Of course i jumped at it! I love arranging and singing harmonies. But ...logistically i wondered how it would be possible- me in England...Micah in Oklahoma? But...with the amazing power of technology..it was easy and quite a thrilling experience.
I absolutely love the haunting quality of this song and the way it all worked so beautifully. Of course..i think my harmonies and ethereal bits have made all the difference!!! Hope you enjoy it too...... In the Autumn, I'm delighted to say that Micah is going to be playing and producing the last track on my forthcoming  album..... Make Me Strong. The song is called  '100 Miles' © 2009 All rights reserved. Think it's going to be an exciting journey!

I wrote this song after my husband died unexpectedly. It took me a while to record but, despite the glorious production by David Hubbard, I found it hard to listen to and thought the vocal was just too sad. Last week going through my recordings, I listened again and really enjoyed it for what it was... a love song. I hope you do too. x x

Well, it's been amazing these past few months, recording and getting such a wonderful response from friends- brilliant musicians which i valued so much. I am very sad that today the whole lot vanished from my page - and i am feeling very sad as i got such a lot of strength and encouragement from them. So, gone but not forgotten. Keep the comments coming and i will also take more time to write on others' pages, now i realise how much it mean to me. As the great Joni so brilliantly put it:
' Don't you know it seems as though/you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone.'

So true. xxxxxx

When I was growing up, I always thought that the Year 2000 would be utopic. a perfect world living in peace. Wilfred Owen had made a huge impact on me and the naive hope that the First World War was.....'the war to end all wars' made increasingly poignant with each new conflict. I suddenly had a picture of God, quietly despairing of us and of those who kill in 'His' name. Five minutes later i had the song. SOS.GOD. xx
