1-4 Author Frank Bittinger with his Hexology
Over the centuries, Frank Bittinger has experienced many lives. In this incarnation, Mr. Bittinger lives and writes in Western Maryland , sharing his home with a menagerie of pets, several alternate personalities, and the occasional ghost. He enjoys working as a cosmetologist in Cumberland and can be emailed at lairofthescarabae@hotmail.com .
Since he is eccentric, he has been known to be interested in books, frogs, and Christmas trees, amassing large collections of each—sometimes combining his interests, like the Christmas tree decorated entirely with frog ornaments and stuffed animals. And he also collects books on Dianetics and Scientology.
Ancient Egypt holds a fascination for him; he has a scarab beetle tattoo between his shoulder blades as well as a collection of Egyptian items in his bedroom and a somewhat large collection of books on Egypt.
He enjoys creating stories for his fans to read, saying, “I am a writer, a novelist. I write in the Gothic horror tradition: dark and moody. Someone once complimented me by saying my second book is ‘Sleek, sinister, and seductive.' I very much enjoyed hearing that.
"I've also been told I am across between Clive Barker and Anne Rice. A compliment, indeed, considering these are two legends of the craft.”
Frank believes writing is an art form, whether the writing is great literature or his own writing which he refers to as ‘schlock horror.'
“L. Ron Hubbard said ‘The artist injects the spirit of life into a culture' as well as ‘A culture is only as great as its dreams, and its dreams are dreamed by artists.' And I firmly agree. You cannot underestimate how important art is to a culture, to a civilization; without artists and art, a civilization cannot exist—it will wither and die.”
Part of the proceeds from the sales of his novels go toward helping find homes for abused, unwanted, or neglected animals. Over the years, he has been able to find homes for cats, dogs, lizards, birds, squirrels, mice, and hamsters, among others like goats and even fish.

1-14 Authors Michele and K.M. Johnson with "Knowing The Struggle Is Over."
Frantically running towards the open doors of her life, instantly they slammed shut! Boldly marked with a “going out of business” sign and dead bolted closed. There it was, her life, vanishing immediately before her eyes. After years of struggling and searching for an understanding of her life, K.M. Johnson found herself stumbling upon a spiritual journey, which reveals the true meaning of having faith in GOD. Knowing The Struggle Is Over takes you through a 3-step process in restoring your faith. This spiritual journey proves that having faith in GOD is the only tool needed to overcome any struggle. This book discusses how different circumstances in life may lead to doubt, unbelief, and fear. Ms. Johnson shares her experience on how she learned to stop complaining, let go and let God, and finally acknowledge that GOD is truly in control. Knowing The Struggle Is Over incorporates several exercises that keeps you in full interaction throughout the entire journey. The 3-step process may be shared with others and practiced daily. This book also addresses changes in today’s world, the new religions that have transpired, and many of the tragedies we have encountered. The need for revisiting the foundation that Christianity is built is fulfilled through scripture references and comments on biblical passages profoundly embedded within each chapter. It also entails real-life applications in addition to practical messages. Whatever your situation or circumstance as you conquer this spiritual journey together with the author, you will find your path to Knowing The Struggle Is Over.

2-8 Horror Author David Greske with Blood River
With ....BLOOD.. ..RIVER...., David Greske does something that I didn’t think was possible; he actually renders vampires fun and cool again. The story follows a group of young adults on a road trip to Vegas. They don’t exactly make it. After picking up the mysterious and sexy albino, Annabelle, they are unwittingly lured into ....Blood.. ..River...., a town damned by a horrible and deadly secret. Trapped in the town, the unwitting teens become the prey of an ancient evil.
The story itself mingles the Gothicism of classic vampire fiction with a modern viciousness more in line with contemporary depictions of the blood-loving ghouls. Those fond of classic bloodsucker films of ‘60s cinema will be hard-pressed not to envision the novel’s lead femme fatale as Hammer Film sexpot Ingrid Pitt. Greske’s villains ooze sexuality and proffer only violent death as they seduce both male and female prey, and fans of such horror lit headliners as Laymon, Keene, and Lee will feel right at home with the bloody—often gory—results.
Greske pens a visceral and sexy horror tale that turns many popular genre conventions on their heads and keeps the reader turning the pages. David jukes and dodges reader expectation at every turn, upping the expectation ante by introducing new and inventive horrors. Interesting, offbeat characters manage rise above typical cardboard monster fodder, and I actually found myself rooting for a couple to live.
....BLOOD.. ..RIVER.... is a slickly-paced, incredibly fun romp that twists all the best aspects of this popular subgenre, both cinematic and literary, into a grisly slurry of horror goodness. Those looking for a vampire tale with real bite should definitely check this out.

Author Michael Hanson with Sha'Dan: Tales of the Apocalypse
"Sha'Daa: Tales of the Apocalypse," "If Lovecraft were around to read Sha'Daa: Tales of the Apocalypse, I think his first reaction would be annoyance ("They're building on my concept"), followed by a giggle or two ("They had a lot of fun doing it,"), and ultimately pride ("They updated it and did it right.") He isn't the only one. I think Edmond Hamilton, Jack Williamson, Clark Ashton Smith, and even Robert Sheckley could see bits of their ideas or approaches here, all filtered through this band of motivated writers, and they would be just as pleased. It's a hell of a book." Mike Resnick author of "Inescapable", (TALES OF THE DYING EARTH ) "Sha'Daa: Tales of the Apocalypse is a wild mix of the Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and end of the world genres that is well worth the time of any Survial fiction fan." Eric S Brown, Author of Season of Rot and Cobble. The Sha'Daa has its dark, eerie, terrifying roots anchored deep in the soil of fictional horror and mythic apocrypha. The end-of-days is a concept reinvented multiple times by each generation of writers with every new century, and our own 21st is no exception. We offer up this humble tribute to those who came before us. A gruesome shout out is given for Edgar Allen Poe, Robert Bloch, H.P. Lovecraft, F. Paul Wilson, Stephen King, Clive Barker, Bram Stoker, Charles Dickens, Brian Lumley, Homer, Arthur Conan Doyle, and all the rest who have given us reason to fear the night. Be warned. The Sha'Daa is coming.

Author Fran Lewis with Alzheimers and Bertha Fights Back.
Bertha, a thirteen old teenage girl, living the South Bronx, is having trouble dealing with everyday issues that children face in school and just growing up. Bertha is uncoordinated, not very pretty and has trouble doing any physical activities. Bertha has a sister named Tillie who is very pretty, very agile and has no problem making friends or doing all of the things that Bertha cannot do. They are total opposites. Tillie and many of Bertha's cousins enjoy laughing at her when she tried to ice skate; take dancing lessons or even bowl. Bertha attempted to do all of these things but could not. However, she is smart, sassy and has a great sense of humor, which helps her to deal with these experiences and others. Growing up can be difficult when you are over weight or not really good at sports or dancing. I hope you will learn from reading my book that you can be anything that you want to be and no one can stop you from reaching your goals and dreams. Not everyone is born athletic, beautiful, thin or a genius. However, every one is smart or excellent in something whether it is drawing, jumping rope or even running track. Who you are as a person is what makes you special. I hope that you enjoy reading about Bertha and Tillie and learn that there is a little bit of Bertha in everyone. My first two books send a positive message to children. They both deal with real life issues that children face today. Being over weight, bullied in school, and not very pretty made life hard for me. I know that it makes it even more difficult for children growing up today. In Bertha Fights Back Bertha learns that following the path of others and not being true to who you are can be costly in many different ways.

Author Lania Lee with Skulls of Salvation
five-book fantasy series.
Synopsis of Book One
Of Atlantis is an epic fantasy novel based upon the king of Atlantis known as Archimedes. Archimedes is blessed with a source of untapped power - a power to heal and a power to destroy. His mother, Cheris, trusts this power, but his father, King Lionus fears it, making him suspicious and distrustful of the young prince, his only son.
In this first book of five, we follow King Lionus as he returns victorious from yet another war among the countries of the continent of Atlantis. He has been led to believe a false tale of his wife’s infidelity and turns against her, driving him slowly into debauchery and decline. Loyal to the end, Cheris, endures his alienation and resentment while nurturing her son, Archimedes, from his childhood until he is crowned king, marries and has children of his own. Cheris, accepts her celibate and loveless marriage out of a duty to her subjects and to Archimedes, her only child who she values more than life itself.
When Uric, a trusted advisor to King Lionus proves to be Archimedes’ archenemy, political turmoil ensues and the constant threat of war could tear Atlantis apart and bring devastation to mankind. Uric, too, has tremendous powers but those powers must be continually fed or he will die. He knows and covets the true strength of the enduring powers of Archimedes who has long suspected Uric’s evil tendencies. Eventually, Archimedes will come face to face with Uric’s demonic character – but who will survive to play instrumental roles in major historical events through the centures? About the author:
Lanaia Lee Lanaia Lee was born in 1957 to a Navy father and a schoolteacher mother who home-schooled her. In second grade, she was reading on a 4th grade level, so they moved her to a private school to enhance her education. When she was nine years old, her mother died from a massive stroke. Because her father was rarely home, her grandmother, a professed black witch, gained custody.
When Lanaia was 14, her grandmother abandoned her, and she landed in foster care where she had four different sets of foster parents within a year, because she kept running away to avoid men who attempted to molest her.
At age fifteen, she went to boarding school on her dad's GI Bill. She graduated in her junior year after which she drifted, living with various people with neither a family nor a home. At eighteen, she married and divorced having three miscarriages. By nineteen, she began working in management for convenient stores and restaurant chains.
She remarried at age 30, then had a stillborn daughter a year later. Five years later, her husband left her for a seventeen-year-old. She filed bankruptcy, and one month later suffered a massive stroke, which, after seven months in the hospital, put her in a wheelchair.
The next two years involved intensive physical therapy, but she would never walk again. She took the step of finding work to help her rehabilitation. She found employment at vocational trades where she met my soul mate, David, also in a wheelchair from a motorcycle wreck he sustained in 1984. They married in 1992 and are still happily married.
They, too, lost two children due to her disease, erratic hypertension. She and her husband live independently, and she still drives.
In 2001, David dared her to write a poem. Out of curiosity, she posted it in an online poetry forum. The feedback was so positive, she kept writing. At first, she wrote just poems, then short stories and finally novels. All of her work is typed one-handed because of her disabilities.
Lanaia gives credit to the grace of God which has helped her overcome immense adversity, hold her head high, and she claims she won’t quit until she hits the best seller list.

Author Toni "Toniwo" Womack with That's What You Get For Running With Scissors
That's What You Get For Running With Scissors, Volume 1 is a compilation of seventeen short stories of every type of bad relationship drama that a woman can find herself in, if she is not careful. The women in the stories fall for men who eventually hurt them in the end. Although the women see the signs to be wary of, they desperately want to be in love, no matter what the consequence. Many of the situations have humorous moments but will make you think before you leap. The stories are identifiable even if the reader has not personally experienced these situations, they probably know someone who has. One other thing that makes my book unique is that there is NO male bashing whatsoever. That's What You Get For Running With Scissors begins with "Stupid Is What Stupid Does, " about a young woman in a relationship with a guy, who in turn, is caught seeing someone else. When the young lady doesn't hear from the man for several months after the incident, she is beside herself with grief thinking the worst. He finally contacts her to explain and "stupid" accepts his excuse only to find out that her "man" is now married to the woman with whom she caught him with in the first place. In "Friends With Benefits" a woman falls for a guy who is the total opposite of the men she usually dates, but finds out too late that he is extremely jealous and will do anything to keep her, including filing criminal charges against her. The other stories include relationships with co-workers, preachers, ex-cons, infidelity and a host of other scenerios.

When you're dead, those that you leave behind will put you in a part of that tree. It represents what was, what is and what will be. It's eternal." -- John Holmes Most people might, understandably, predict that the world's first porn star was a woman, but they would be wrong. John Curtis Holmes was just a simple country boy from Ohio when he moved to California in 1964. It was the infancy of hardcore, so in Holmes' wildest dreams, he could not have predicted the turbulent ride on which he had embarked by publicizing his private parts. With the fame he achieved by playing his most famous character - a gun toting detective named Johnny Wadd - came money. Holmes was pleased to spend it on his wife and mistresses, but soon was in over his head after he became addicted to cocaine. Unfortunately for Holmes, in the years that followed, his addiction led him into several desperate choices - including setting up a robbery at the home of Ed Nash, a powerful L.A. nightclub owner. The robbery resulted in one of the most gruesome, unsolved, multiple-murders in Hollywood history. Amazingly, before his untimely death in 1988, Holmes regained his momentum, remarried and rebuilt his life and career. However, the grave consequences of his addiction, his association with the Wonderland murders, and his AIDS-related death made him an infamous figure in pop culture. Digging past the stigmas, John Holmes: A Life Measured in Inches - the first biography about John C. Holmes - unearths the human being behind the penis and proves that there was more to him than could bemeasured in inches. This biography includes material from the authors' new interviews with: Laurie Holmes, Bill Amerson, Bob Chinn, Julia St. Vincent, Detective Tom Lange, Detective Frank Tomlinson, Paul Thomas, Ron Jeremy, Seka, Marilyn Chambers, Candida Royalle, Rhonda Jo Petty, Dr. Sharon Mitchell, Bill Margold, and many others! John Holmes: A Life Measured in Inches also includes 114 reviews of John's most notable feature films, 86 loops synopses, 3 photos sections with rare nudes, and a 21 page comprehensive filmography.
About The Authors: On August 8th 2004, 21 year old Jennifer Sugar attended a pivotal event in Hollywood that set her on the path toward co-authoring her first biography titled, John Holmes: A Life Measured in Inches. The event, "Fit for a King" was a posthumous, honorary 60th birthday celebration for Holmes, whereby Sugar, a Michigan university student, networked with several people who proved to be instrumental in helping her to accomplish her goal. Ironically, Sugar was only 5 years old when Holmes passed away in 1988, at age 43, from AIDS-related causes.
Approximately two and a half years later, after meeting online through their mutual interest in their subject, Sugar invited 49 year old Canadian hearing instrument specialist and mother of two, Jill Nelson, to co-write the biography. The two authors began to forge their unique collaboration. Interestingly, neither Sugar or Nelson had any previous affiliation with the pornographic movie industry, yet, they succeeded in establishing trust and confidence within the adult entertainment community. Sugar and Nelson researched their subject extensively, while conducting interviews with 35 people who had known, worked with, and/or loved John Holmes. Presented as an oral history, their intensive project consisted of compiling their own new interviews with previous interviews, along with other resources, in order to produce the consummate and comprehensive: A Life Measured in Inches -- the first biography about the erotic film legend and pop culture icon.
At an impressive 584 pages, "Inches" contains three photos sections (including rare nudes), 114 feature film reviews and 86 loops synopses, all viewed and written by the two authors. Sugar and Nelson worked diligently to generate the current 21 page filmography, encapsulating data from Holmes' earliest film work. Adult film historian, William Margold, contributed the book's Foreward, "Hard Core Martyr".
On its publication date, August 8th, 2008, John Holmes: A Life Measured in Inches was launched at the eclectic and classy venue, Book Soup, on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, California. The event was well attended by fans, friends and many industry insiders, including Holmes' widow, Laurie Holmes, who endorsed the biography before the attendees. Ms. Holmes was an invited guest speaker that evening, along with the legendary Johnny Wadd creator and director, Bob Chinn, William Margold and Cass Paley, the director of the award-winning documentary, Wadd, The Life & Times of John C. Holmes.
The critically acclaimed, John Holmes: A Life Measured in Inches is the first book for authors Jennifer Sugar and Jill C. Nelson. http://johnholmesinches.blogspot.com/http://johnholmes.bizland.com/index.html-------------------------------------------- 9-21-09

Author Amy Grench with Blanket of White.
— Sherry Decker, Author of Hook House and Other Horrors What makes Blanket of White stand out from other collections is the emotional response to common themes: death and sadness, love and sex, loss of innocence, and twisted family relationships. These are some very powerful stories that wrench at the human heart and plumb the darkest depths of the soul. Bravo.”— Nate Kenyon, Author of Bloodstone, The Reach and The Bone Factory “Blanket of White is a collection of short stories that leave the reader fighting an attack of shivers and wondering if, perhaps, there more dreadful truth to the tales than fiction. Sometimes we remember people the way we want to remember them, instead of how they really were. We forget the fear, the horror, the torture, and we remember their beautiful eyes and hair—their soft voice. Sometimes we try to justify terror, try to make sense of it. We try to adapt. Sometimes, we manage to convince ourselves that murder can be a loving thing. There is a strong sense of winter in these stories. Chilling details and coldness pervade the characters and the tales. For the reader these stories leave more questions than answers and readers may find themselves remembering these tales for a long time.” About the Author:Amy Grech has sold over one hundred stories and three poems to various anthologies and magazines including: Apex Digest, Fear on Demand, Funeral Party 2, Inhuman Magazine, The Book of Dark Wisdom, The Flash Fiction Offensive, The Horror Express, Space & Time, Zombie CSU, and many others. Author Frank E. Bittenger on Publishing and Writing.
Over the centuries, Frank Bittinger has experienced many lives. In this incarnation, Mr. Bittinger lives and writes in Western Maryland , sharing his home with a menagerie of pets, several alternate personalities, and the occasional ghost. He enjoys working as a cosmetologist in Cumberland.

Rock Band SFD (Six Feet Deep)
Members:
Brad Wilson: Lead Vocals, Guitars
www.myspace.com/bradwilsonSFD
Living in the Toronto area all of his life, BRAD drew inspiration from guitar greats such as Eric Clapton, Jimi Page & Stevie Ray Vaughan. Already an accomplished pianist and choir soloist, he picked up the guitar at the age of 14 and immediately began writing songs of his own. It was after seeing Aerosmith in concert that BRAD began focusing on writing heavy rock music with a groove. By the age of 19, BRAD had completed his first studio recording and had embarked on a path that would lead him to work with various touring bands over the following years including Spacetramp Cowboy in the late 80's, a band that MTV named as best underground band in Canada.
Today, BRAD has evolved into a songwriter who places the emphases on the song first, while also becoming a guitarist that can stand his own ground even in a three-piece band. Seeing SFD live has often left many asking where the band was hiding the other guitar player! It's not magic...just rock guitar the way it was meant to be!
Brad is also the host of the popular Internet radio show The Toronto Rock Radio Show which airs Monday nights at 8 ET on America's K94 Rocks (http://www.k94rocks.com/). The show, which features and interviews major and Indie label bands from around the world with a focus on up-and-coming Canadian talent, is the brainchild of Brad and his life-partner Tammy Miller who acts as GM for the show. Tammy also rmanages SFD through her management firm Miller Management. The show quickly gained a huge following after it debuted on August 4, 2008 as the number 1 show on K94. Today, The Toronto Rock Radio Show is the flagship show of K94 with more listeners than all other K94 shows put together! Brad's favourite bands: Theory Of A Deadman; Breaking Benjamin; Godsmack; Tool, Sixx AM; Thornley; Nickelback.

Kevin Gowin: Backing Vocals,Bass Guitar Born in Winnipeg, KEVIN moved to Toronto where his musical aspirations started at the age of seven when he picked up a badminton racket, pretending to play along to the 'Meet the Beatles' album. 'Dad was in the radio biz so there was always music going on around the house', says KEVIN. For many years KEVIN sang in choirs at school and church. While going through public and high school he played tuba 'oh gawd!' he exclaims, as well as cello and upright bass. While early on in high school Kevin got into bass guitar after seeing KISS in concert. 'Simmons was just so cool I wanted to learn all the songs he played'. KEVIN's first band was a funk band which purportedly taught him much about groove. He then moved on to blues and punk bands. After getting out of high school Kevin began playing in hard rock tribute bands, touring extensively playing AC/DC, Iron Maiden and Ozzy material. He also worked with original bands at such Toronto rock bastions as The Gasworks, Rock and Roll Heaven, and other notable clubs around the country. KEVIN says he really got fired up as to what was possible with bass after becoming a hardcore Rush fan and seeing Billy Sheehan of Talas play many times in Toronto. During this time KEVIN also started listening to a lot of Jaco, Stanley Clark and Stu Ham further broadening his musical perspective. KEVIN has also recorded and done session work at such studios as Phase One, Greenlight, Masters Workshop, Cottingham Sound, Chalet Studios, Studio92, Velvet Sound and Silver Birch Studios amongst others including the famous Metalworks where he recently recorded with Daniel MacMaster of Bonham fame for which ..SFD.. was the studio band under the direction of producer Nick Blagona (Deep Purple, Sting, King Crimson). KEVIN felt that this session in particular gave him the opportunity to learn so much from Blagona and MacMaster as well as hear so many great stories that are a part of rock n roll history. Kevin gets wired on: Steve Vai, Les Claypool, Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller, Billy Sheehan and Alan Holdsworth. KEVIN'S MAIN GEAR Guitars · '82 Lado SF · '74 Fender Fretless . The Rack · Korg rack mount tuner · Pod Pro rack mount · .Eden Navigator Preamp · YS 400-power amp · Various foot pedals Kevin likes the sound of the wind in the trees in the country and big PA's. Kevin dislikes people who don't signal, people that are arrogant, and toilet paper rolls installed the wrong way 'the paper comes off the top people, off the top!' Steve Scott: Drums www.myspace.com/60939378 Steve Scott was destined to become a drummer. The most powerful drummer. Period. From the first listen of Alice Cooper's " Muscle Of Love" album, and the powerful drum beat that starts it, Steve was hooked on wielding the drums. He loved the power and the conviction that went hand in hand with playing such a powerful instrument. So at the tender age of 12, he had pestered his parents enough to finally buy him his first kit. Quickly destroying that drumset, his formative years were spent honing his craft, while playing in various bands throughout the Calgary, and later Kingston areas, where he had relocated. He eventually hit the road, travelling in his first serious band " Street Legal", and that taught the bombastic young drummer the ins and outs of being in a travelling rock band. This experience had served him well, as he became a popular musician on the Kingston circuit as a sideman, as well as a band leader. His "take no prisoners" attitude towards the music as well as his positive outlook on any project he was involved with made him a " first call" drummer. After years of playing and many bands later, Steve still approaches playing with the youthful zest of a boy who has just discovered the joy of drumming, and plays with twice as much power and fire of the most seasoned veteran. And this is what your eyes and ears will witness, when you see Steve play in Six Feet Deep, the newest jewel in his musical crown. As he puts it, " have sticks, make noise! " Steve punishes Pearl Drums, Remo snare drums and heads, Sabian cymbals, and any stick he can get his hands on. Sound Equipment
BIO of Band:
Pure and simple, SFD is an explosive hard-rock trio that has been called everything from the “Hardest working band in the Indie scene” to the “Real Deal”. Often compared to greats Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, the band delivers a gut-wrenching, in-your-face wall of sound with songs that have meaningful lyrics that leave a lasting impression on the listener. Whether it’s one of their heavier songs or a charged up ballad, their music always displays a very personal side of the band that taps into their strong emotions about human life and social issues of the day. The intense energy the band delivers live is something that must be seen and has often left fans dazed and confused as to how a 3-piece band could be capable of delivering such a big sound that has resulted in humorous accusations by fans that the band hides another guitar player back-stage. As legendary engineer/producer Nick Blagona (Deep Purple, April Wine, Tea Party) once said after hearing the band’s track Little Girl, “This is one band I would really want to see live. You just know they would kick some serious ass”.
With their second release So Far Down in 2006, the band suddenly found themselves gaining in popularity all over the internet airwaves, being heard by scores of listeners and becoming one of the most requested bands on many of the major internet radio stations. “If you had told me that we would end up with the number 6 song for 2007 on the hugely popular syndicated Scott and Pam Show, or have the top requested song on Broadcast Asylum, reaching as many as 450,000 listeners per show, I would have said that’ll never happen,” says vocalist & guitarist BRAD WILSON. “We put our heart and soul into our music and sometimes we have this feeling like 'is it as good as it needs to be?' But to get both the fan and industry response we’ve received in the past couple of years validates everything for us. It gives us a good reason and motivation to keep forging ahead.” SFD is fronted by vocalist and guitarist BRAD WILSON (Spacetramp Cowboy), who is backed by the powerhouse rhythm section of bassist KEVIN GOWIN and drummer STEVE SCOTT (Detox). In 2002, with original drummer Brian Smyth, the band quickly broke into the Toronto club scene. Gaining enough local interest they quickly removed the words “Demo” from their first release Six Feet Deep (2003) and began selling it at shows. After completing the sophomore record So Far Down in late 2005, Smyth left the band in pursuit of other musical interests and the two remaining members found themselves with a CD that was ready to be released but without a complete band. The addition of NIALL MELLORS, who was known for his explosive stage show antics with previous band Smeer helped propel the band forward and over the following two years and the band became a staple on various radio formats, was the Studio band for Daniel MacMaster (Bonham) and shared the stage with the likes of Default, Kix, Ill Scarlet and Marianas Trench as well as headlining numerous major venues in Canada and the U.S. After spending nearly two years solely focusing on the U.S. market which meant an absence from the Canadian music scene, the buzz was on again for SFD on their home turf after an appearance at Indie Night In Canada 2009 (Canadian Music Week - March 11, 2009) and the time had come for more change with the band welcoming new drummer STEVE SCOTT (Detox) to the fold, who breathes new life into the music and who will play a critical role in the bands new material which fans are saying is "Theory Of A Deadman meets Godsmack meets Tool with a bit of Metallica thrown in there for good measure!" Since its release So Far Down has earned the band excessive amounts of airplay on internet, satellite and terrestrial radio. Their riveting track Little Girl was picked up as the theme song for a new television show and in early 2007 SFD also signed a deal with 509 Films that saw five of the band's tracks reaching a worldwide audience in the flick Vertical Ascent. SFD’s also found their way to the number 1 position on NumberOneMusic.com’s “Indie Rock Chart”. Not only did SFD beat out tens of thousands of other bands with this amazing achievement, but they also had an astonishing 8 songs in the top 20! The band is currently working on material for their third release while shopping for a deal. As Indielife Radio DJ “Wally-B” put it, “A record deal will be well deserved by the hardest working band I’ve ever seen in the Indie scene today. These guys deserve all the success in the world. SFD is a true role model for other bands and an inspiration to the music industry and its fans.” http://www.sfdrocks.com/

About The Author:
Born in September, 1962, Kathleen G. Collins struggled her entire adult life with Bipolar Disorder. After being properly diagnosed in 1994, she began the difficult journey to recovery. The long and uphill battle began shortly after the marriage to her true soul mate and the birth of her beloved son. She spent the next 15 years in a haze of constant mood swings, hundreds of medication combinations, suicidal tendencies and even hospitalizations. With the loving support of her family and friends, she finally stumbled upon several medications and a series of therapy sessions that proved to be effective. She is now happily living with her husband and son in the quiet San Joaquin Valley of California.
In the past, Kathleen had never professionally written anything, let alone a novella. However during her ordeal, she came to realize that she might actually be right brained and she found a great deal of comfort in writing. She had many poems published and wrote of her experience with Bipolar Disorder in her short memoir published at www.Storyhouse.org/Kathleen.html as well as in the Mar/Apr 2005 edition of Today's Health and Wellness magazine.
Then the time came for her to let out her anger and frustration with the many side effects that often come with taking so many different mind altering medications. The result of her efforts was the completion of the novella Suspended. It is the perfect medication Science Fiction story based on fact and personal experience. www.sonar4publications.com ------------------------------------------------------- 8-27-09

His first job was in the mill for the Magma Copper Company. From there he held jobs in video rental stores, Walgreen's, Bookman's, and eventually became an English teacher after his graduation from Arizona State University in 2000. While teaching in Arizona's White Mountains, he fulfilled another life long dream of getting into sled dog racing - something that he had fallen in love with since reading Jack London's Call of the Wild. While in Pinetop, Ryan took up breeding AKC Registered Alaskan Malamutes and participating in local sled dog events.
Ryan, on being asked about literature's affect on him, describes his favorite books as follows, "My first true horrific experience with a novel was Stephen King's IT - I couldn't put that book down! I read it on the floor of my room with the closet door open so that I could simutaneously see into the closet and under the bed at the same time. I was in seventh grade. Later, the novels that had monumental effects on me were Interview with the Vampire and The Witching Hour by Anne Rice, Carrion Comfort by Dan Simmons, the novels of Andrew Vachss, and the short stories of Poppy Z. Brite. In terms of teaching - no author has had more of a profound influence on me than the master bard himself, William Shakespeare. Teaching Shakespeare, whether it was Macbeth, Othello, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Twelth Night, Julius Caesar, or the immortal Hamlet was absolutely wonderful. So many good memories. In terms of novels - my top list in terms of literature would have to be (in no particular order) - Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, Dickens' Great Expectations, Golding's Lord of the Flies, Vonnegut's God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater, Huxley's Brave New World, Alexie's Indian Killer, Swift's Gulliver's Travels, Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, Hesse's Siddhartha, and Lao Tzu's Tao te Ching. Ryan eventually moved back to Phoenix, Arizona - where he now resides with his close friends, his beloved dogs Konan and Oberon, his son Aidan on every possible occassion, and the heat. Grave Whispers is Ryan's first novel, but others are on the way!

Author Barry K. Nelson with McKenzie Files
The United Protectorate is under attack by the reptilian alien race known as the Brelac. The Brelac's bloodthirsty onslaught brings forth the creation of the genetically engineered humanoid weapons called Reploids. These Reploids are the perfect weapon in every way; they are identical copies of real humans that have been captured, killed, cloned, embedded with powerful psionic-based abilities, and programmed to kill for the Brelac. They are untraceable, they blend into human society, and they are believable-so believable, that the Reploids themselves do not know they are clones. Colin McKenzie is a second generation Reploid planted in the Protectorate military. When he turns on his commanding officer in an attempt to protect a shipwrecked band of Brelac soldiers, he is captured and reprogrammed-along with two other arrested Reploids-to serve the government they were originally created to destroy. A dark alliance between the Brelac and the separatist organization Vendetta looms over the Protectorate. The balance is upset when the traitorous Doctor Howard Fenlow-the scientist who is the very creator of the Reploids-manages to produce a weapon powerful enough to bring the Protectorate to its knees. And there are only three that can stop it.

Author Yvonne Mason with Dream Catcher
In the years leading up to the 1950’s there were no resources for the challenged. They were placed in asylums or back rooms and left to die. They were never talked about or acknowledged. They were the silent children. The ones no one wanted. The ,ones who never given a chance to live. Florida Author Yvonne Mason has given us a story of success in a time of failure for the challenged. She has given a voice to a child born in 1952 who became challenged. This young man was not put away. He was not shunned and he was not ignored. In her book Dream Catcher, Ms. Mason tells of Stan who was never supposed to succeed. He was supposed to fail. Ms. Mason takes the reader into the life of Stan’s family as they deal with an older child as well as a baby who is challenged. She brings to life the pain, heartache and deep emotion of the mother as she learns to cope with Stan. Ms. Mason also brings to life the hope, the love and the deep abiding loyalty of the family as more siblings are added to the mix. The stories bring tears, laughter, anger and feelings of hope, success and belief that behind all of us there is the ability to succeed even when we feel we can’t. Dream Catcher a book that should be in every home and in every teacher’s hands to use as a yardstick for success. Dream Catcher can be purchased at Amazon.com as well as Ms. Mason’s online store at http://thebookattic.ecrater.com

Author Emma Westwood with Monster Movies Calling live from Melbourne Austrialia
Features exclusive interviews with JOHN CARPENTER, ROGER CORMAN, BONG JOON-HO, LARRY COHEN, GREG MCLEAN, RYUHEI KITAMURA AND ADAM SIMON...
From the year dot, things that go bump in the night have coloured our collective storytelling experience. The hypothetical ‘monster’, in whatever guise or otherworldly shape it may take, is the manifestation of our fears and social paranoias, and an effective watchdog for making sure we all toe the line.
Through literature, the monster has found a lasting legacy but, through cinema, it has developed from black & white into full Technicolor glory making the monster movie an enduring document of social times, movements, fears and desires. This book peels back the flesh on a few monsters that have tingled our spines and caused more than a nightmare over the past 100 years.
About The Author: Emma Westwood is a writer, journalist and dedicated cinephile from Australia. As a media correspondent, her writing has appeared in numerous magazines and newspapers in both Australia and South East Asia. Her first clandestine viewing of 'The Exorcist' at age 11 kicked off a love affair with the horror genre that has placed her in good stead to write Monster Movies. This is her first book for Pocket Essentials.

Author Beth Trissel with Through The Fire.At the height of the French and Indian War, a young English widow ventures into the colonial frontier in search of a fresh start. She never expects to find it in the arms of the half-Shawnee, half-French warrior who makes her his prisoner in the raging battle to possess a continent––or to be aided by a mysterious white wolf and a holy man.
About the Author: Beth Trissel, author of historical and light paranormal romance, published with The Wild Rose Press. I'm married to my high school sweetheart and live on a farm in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia with children and multiple animals. The beauty of the valley is an inspiration, as are my roots which go well back into Virginia’s history.~ My fascination with the colonial frontier and the Shawnee Indians is an early and abiding one. My English, Scot-Irish ancestors had interactions with this tribe, including family members taken captive. Intrigued with all things Celtic, much of my writing features the Scot-Irish who settled the valley and spread into the mountains and the Carolinas. ~ This absorption with early America also extends to the high drama of the Revolution and ancestors who fought and loved on both sides of that sweeping conflict. ~Moreover, I am ever intrigued by ghost stories, and Virginia has more tales than any other state. I find myself asking if the folk who’ve gone before us are truly gone, or do some still have unfinished business in this realm? And what of the young lovers whose time was tragically cut short, do they somehow find a way? Love conquers all, so I answer ‘yes.’ Please also visit me at my author website: http://www.bethtrissel.com/http://www.thewildrosepress.com/-------------------------- 7-30-09, Thursday, 9 PM Central
