We are looking forward to playing out live again early in the new year. Those close to the Solare camp know it's been a "challenging" year and we are happy to end it on a positive note. We were asked to contribute a song to Winter Is On My Head, a digital compilation of Christmas songs by Southern Californian artists to benefit the Orange County Rescue Mission http://rescuemission.org. Our song, "Ice Planet", was inspired by our Midwestern childhoods. The track will be available to stream online for the rest of the month. (Check it out on our Facebook page for example: http://www.facebook.com/solareband) You may purchase the entire album by donating as much or as little as you would like via PayPal. 100% of the proceeds will go to the Orange County Homeless Shelter. To purchase or find out more, visit the official website here: http://www.winterisonmyhead.com Even though it's been a while, it's worth mentioning that we also contributed a cover of the song "Daylight" to The Nurse Who Loved Me: A Tribute to Failure-another record to benefit a charity. The proceeds from this record go to the Save the Music Foundation. Purchase and additional information can be found here: http://www.popuprecords.com/store.html

We recorded a version of the song "Daylight" years ago for a tribute to the highly influential, yet little-known band, Failure. In fact, I think that was the first non-demo song we ever recorded as a band. Initially, a lot of big bands got involved in this tribute, but the legality and publishing issues that came along with those large bands were too much for a small label releasing it to manage. But I think that initial attempt made it obvious that there was a lot of interest on the part of artists and diehard Failure fans for a tribute record. A very dedicated Failure fan named Larry approached us and a bunch of the other bands in an effort to resuscitate the record.

So anyway, check out this record, if you like it, you can purchase it online and all the money made from it will go to charity. Most of the bands on here are indie bands, and I have to say, because of that fact, I think a lot more TLC went into this record then you would hear from a typical tribute record. For our part, we made some pretty notable changes to the original version of "Daylight", but also painstakingly re-created some of the elements. Josh wants to make it known that he created the opening sample from scratch!

Hi everyone. I just wanted to give you all an update on the making of our first US full length record and shows. We are getting close to finishing the record, which will be called "Fireworks Over a Funeral". We have just a couple of tracks to finish still. We are making sure to take the time we need to make it as good as possible. I am hoping to have it available early next year. We have grown a lot since the making of our "The Story of the Moon" EP. I think you all will agree when you get to hear what we are working on. Recently, Alan Moulder mixed a song for us. It is an honor to have worked with him on the song. We have been fans of pretty much everything he has ever done. It is unlikely that we will be playing any shows until after the new year as well. There are a couple of factors. One is that we really want to focus on the record. We also want to come out bigger and better than ever after the record is finished. Finally and most importantly, Christine has an arm injury, so she needs to rest and let it heal. Although actually playing the bass does not hurt her, all of the other things surrounding playing a show does hurt her. We want to be very cautious and make sure her arm gets healthy again as soon as possible. Should any of this change and we have an opportunity that we cannot pass on, we will be sure to let everyone know that we are playing. Please fell free to say hi and give Christine your support.Josh

We have some cool things happening. We’re just about finished recording a new song with Tom Keeley from the band Thursday producing,. We’re very, very excited about the song, and it will be going towards our new record. We’re also working in Dave Grohl/Foo Fighters HQ this weekend, and hope to make progress on a few more songs. All and all, we’re looking at having a full-length done for the US release in the near future (yes "near future"is a relative term.)

Guys we put up a new song for you all to hear called Summer Asleep and two new masters of Winners and The Story of the Moon. We are about to enter the studio and work on a handful of brand new songs which we are super excited about. It seemed the proper time to resurrect our myspace player so you all can share them and stuff.

Also, we are really revved about this show on Monday the 25th. The Troubadour was nice enough to let us put together the bill and make it a FREE ALL AGES night, so we could really use your support to make it a success. All the bands are friends of ours and some of our favorites. We are also premiering a couple of new songs in the set that most of you have never even heard.

Yes there are many cool things going on now and we hope to fill you in on more of them soon.

ps: we've been watching lots of steven seagal movies! watch out or he'll twist your arm right off!

You guys haven't heard nuthin' in a while so here's some news in bulleted form:

*We're releasung a full-length record in JAPAN! yeah that's right! It'll be coming out around April via Fabtone records- a Toyko-based label. We are in the planning stages of promotional efforts including a video to accompany this release.

*Our cover of the failure song "Daylight" will be appearing on the lovely Failure tribute slated for March? or thereabouts. Yes this was the one that was supposed to come out a while ago but the bands kept getting bigger and bigger, seemingly choking the release with lameness, but that's all rumors of course. This release will feature lots of cool indie bands- we'll let you know more as the time approacheth.

*We're recording new stuff as always but possibly in some exciting new circumstances, sorry to be so cryptic, we'll let you know more info later.

*There will be many new shows in the LA area and beyond in the new year including new awesomeness in the form of BRAND new epic songs and maybe even other surprise type thingys. JOIN THE EMAIL LIST to stay informed on this stuff, k! since things will start picking up big-time shortly after you all receive visits from the Hanukkah Zombie and Kwanzaa Bot!
