FUZE
Eines ist schon nach kurzer Zeit klar: Der rotzige Plattentitel soll einen in die Irre führen. 
Der Rest ist nämlich düster, verzweifelt und trostlos. Ob Artwork, Texte oder Musik:
I NOT DANCE erzeugen vom ersten Moment an eine bedrückende, vor Intensität nur so 
strotzende Atmosphäre. Musikalisch liegen die Österreicher irgendwo in der Schnittmenge 
von FUNERAL DINER, YAGE oder YOU AND I. Flächige, melodische Passagen wechseln
sich ab mit meterhohen Soundwänden. Nacktes reduziertes Geklimper steht im krassen 
Kontrast zu rasenden Screamo-Ausbrüchen. Gerade in diesen schwingt eine rohe Wut mit, 
die an härtere Vertreter der Emo/Screamo-Schiene denken lässt. PG.99 etwa. Oder die 
ehrwürdigen ORCHID. 
Trotz bekannter Elemente schaffen sich I NOT DANCE ihren eigenen Zugang zu dieser Art
von Musik. Melodiebögen werden nicht nicht bis zum Erbrechen gespannt,  außerdem 
protzt man nicht mit dem für das Genre so typischem "Oh, we're sooo epic"-Gehabe. 
Stattdessen setzt das Trio auf eine pulsierende Dynamik, gutes Songwriting und die ein 
oder andere Überraschung. Ja ja, da darf zwischendurch schon einmal getanzt werden!
In diesem Bereich eine der drei besten Platten des letzten Jahres.

Nach diversen Kleinformaten, Splits und Samplerbeiträgen erscheint nun das erste Album 
der Österreicher I NOT DANCE. Schon auf der 2007 veröffentlichten Split – 12'' mit 
MR. WILLIS OF OHIO wussten die Jungs zu überzeugen, mit „So you think you can stop me 
and spit in my eyes" ist ihnen jedoch nochmal ein Quantensprung in puncto Intensität und
Qualität gelungen. Ein gewisser Ebullition–Einfluss ist den acht Stücken anzumerken. Die 
Songs kommen jedoch deutlich weniger weinerlich und selbstmitleidig daher, als es bei 
zahlreichen, neuzeitlichen Screamo–Plagiaten der Fall ist. Etwaige Einflüsse dienen hier 
nicht als Kopiervorlagen, sondern eher als Motivation, die Dringlichkeit des Ausdrucks in 
die Tat umzusetzen. Kämpferisch und mit einer punkigen Arschlecken–Attitüde ziehen die 
Jungs konsequent ihr eigenes Ding durch. Die acht kraftvollen, düsteren Songs wirken 
unheimlich direkt, sind aber bei genauem Hinhören recht facettenreich und im richtigen 
Maße an den richtigen Stellen verspielt. Seine passende visuelle Entsprechung findet der 
Klang im aufgeräumt schlichten Artwork. In optischer, wie in klanglicher Hinsicht wurde auf 
unnötigen Firlefanz verzichtet. Weniger ist halt deutlich mehr.
Den sympathischen Vorarlbergern ist eine rundum stimmige, atmosphärische dichte Scheibe 
gelungen, die laut und kraftvoll eigene Positionen manifestiert.

TRUST
Aah, fängt an wie Maserati und endet in wohltemperiertem Screamo Postcore. Die Jungs aus
Österreich machen das raffiniert. Erst wiegen sie einen in Sicherheit mit Delay-Gitarre und 
atmosphärischer Stimmung, um dann brutal von hinten links auf einen einzudreschen. 
Erst dadurch kann man die Gewalt richtig erfahren. Richtiges Tempo, gut gebrüllt, Löwe. 
Im Gegensatz zu den meisten Bands aus der Ecke, die von vorn bis hinten durchhämmern 
läßt die Band an den richtigen Stellen den Druck raus, aber nur soweit, dass fernab von jeder 
Langeweile die ganze Platte wie aus einem Guss verschiedenste Tempi durchwandern kann.
Bandvergleiche? Ach was. Macht euch selbst ein Bild. Ich finds klasse.

FLIGHT 13
Da hat der Mario von Synalgie mal wieder ein richtiges Schätzchen am Start! Die Ösis von 
I NOT DANCE spielen im weitestetsen Sinne einen Mix aus Screamo und Postcore der nicht 
nur durch die brachialen Parts überzeugt sondern vielmehr aus dem gekonnten Wechsel 
zwischen diesen und reduzierteren Momenten profitiert. Die Ruhe vor dem Sturm kam selten 
so gut und der Sturm selbst erreicht schon fast epische Ausmaße. Tipp!

Ich höre schon seit vielen Jahren sehr gerne Emo und Screamo. Ein Grund dafür ist sicherlich
auch die DIY-Attitüde der ganzen Bands. Sämtliche Bands sind hier mit dem Herzen dabei. 
Die Bullshitrate im Genre ist nicht vergleichbaren mit anderen, trendigen Stilen. Man kann sich
immer sicher sein, dass in jeder einzelnen Platte zumindest ein bisschen Seele steckt. 
Mit noch mehr Liebe dabei sein muss man, wenn man aus einem kleinen Land wie Österreich 
kommt. Hier gibt’s nicht sowas wie eine “Szene”. Anders als in Frankreich, wo jede neue Band 
sofort Vergleiche mit Größen wie Daitro kleben hat. Umso beeindruckender, dass es I NOT DANCE 
geschafft haben über lokale Grenzen hinaus bekannt zu werden. Zumindest innerhalb des Genres. 
Wer die Band schon vorher kannte, der wird wohl zustimmen, dass die früheren Sachen noch
unscheinbarer klangen. Mit dem ersten Full Length hat sich das Trio nun sehr stark entwickelt. 
Auf eigenständige Art und Weise wird hier ein atmosphärisches, wie heftig rockendes Brett 
aufgefahren, das wohl gerade weil es anders als die anderen klingt, so viel Spaß macht.
Natürlich gibt’s hier auch flächige Parts und diese düstere Stimmung – beides von so vielen 
Genre-Bands bekannt. Der Groove den die Österreicher erzeugen, sowie die nicht zu emo-mäßigen
Vocals und der ein odere andere überraschende Part machen die Angelegenheit aber sehr
spannend. “So you think…” ist seit langem wieder mal eine starke Platte aus Österreich.
Ja, wir haben hier wirklich mehr zu bieten als DJ Ötzi und Hansi Hinterseer!

first LP on its way (aug 08)

so you think you can stop me and spit in my eyes

this is it, the title of our first album.
actually there's not much more to say. the design is done, and the record is mastered... ready to go.
just listen to the songs, check the video and enjoy it.

we are back from the studio (jul 08)

... and brought along some stout fishes in our bags.

first of all, it was a marvellous week with the guys of die Tonmmeisterei (website, on Myspace) and except for the fact that they (Role and Henner by name) know what they are doing, they had their own vision i not dance could sound like. fortunately this view coincided with ours and it was a pleasure to work togheter.

we are really satisfied with the results and furthermore the whole trip was like a brain storm. if you are still reading, we can tell you to be curious about it, because as soon as we reach an agreement on the design and artwork of the record and as well the whole things which are accompanied by that, we will update our profil with some titbits.

the release date is not settled yet, but for further information check out the Synalgie Records website in the following weeks or just stop by here again.

new demo songs (may 08)

a few of you may noticed that we are in the process of writing songs for our upcoming album. for this reason we purchased some equipment to record the songs in advance and one of this demonstrations is going online today. 
with this material in mind we will travel to Oldenburg and re-record the whole thing.


for those who wants to know a little bit more:
for the drums we use a simple but quite good russian room microphone and for guitar, bass and vocals the good old Line6 POD. with an interface we get it all digital and click around til it fits.

yep, you've read correctly.

in the days of global networking you'll find your music pretty fast on some suspicious russian servers, or on various other sites - hopefully for free. we are fine with it, because primarily we do this out of love, passion and for the fun. what could be better than sharing this?!
besides, it's only available on vinyl. so whoever likes it, and has a turntable, just get in contact with Mario from synalgie records or ask us at a show.

for all the others we offer to download the whole LP here, so you can be sure that you get the stuff just like it was meant to be.
