Hi All,

I just realised that I hadn't posted a blog since December so I'd better get cracking on one.

Since I last posted I got married and had a lovely Christmas. The Christmas break was very welcome as December was so busy.

Recording for The Gandhis album started and is currently on going in association with 1969 records. We went down to a house in Saltmills, Wexford for 2 weeks to record the main bulk of the songs. Now we're tidying them up before starting on the next round of overdubs.

Vasco Juniors album is progressing nicely too. We are starting the mixing stage next month in Rathmines.

Republic Of Loose also played The Academy before Christmas. Krecording recorded both afternoon and evening shows with guest stars Gavin Friday and Don Baker.

Sinead O'Connor also released a limited edition cd/dvd of the gig that we recorded in the Sugar Club. The CD and DVD was recorded and mixed by Krecording and is only available as a limited edition release. Click here for more.

Hi,

It's been a while so I'd better fill you in on some releases that we were involved in.

Bagatelle released their 30th anniversary collection in July, it peaked at no 16 in the Irish Album Charts and is still selling well. The 1st half of the album is live and was recorded in The Millennium Theater in Derry.

Vasco Junior also had some chart success, their single "Fall" Reached no 15 in the Irish Singles Charts. They also have just released their second single. "Despised" was brought out on Oct 4th. You can find it on itunes or downloadmusic.ie.

Lir had their launch party in Whelans for "Live" this week also. Recorded at Whelans and Vicar Street in 2006 by Krecording it is their first release in 13 years.

It's been a while now since Ronnie Drew passed. I was out of the country when it happened so I was shocked when I first heard about it over a week later. I was recording Damien Dempsey live at the National Concert Hall when fellow Dubliner, John Sheahan, announced the fact that we had lost a great man. He recited a poem he had written for the funeral. I have to say I got a bit emotional at that point.

I'm of the generation that knew him best for "Dublin, my Dublin, Ronnie Drew, 98fm". It was only through my years studying and working as a sound engineer that I got to hear the talent behind that distinctive baritone voice of his.

I did get to meet Ronnie once. It was at a wedding about 3 years ago. This wedding had a limitless budget but what it had in budget it certainly lacked in taste. The bride and groom had managed to hire many well known Irish artists including Ronnie so they asked me to record it for posterity. One of these bands was a flamenco band and the groom had the bright idea to ask a by then frail Ronnie to sing a song with them. Upon hearing this Ronnie replied "No, I'm too old for that sort of shite".

Rest in peace Ronnie. In a time of the vacuous celebrity you were a true legend.
