Hey everybody-

I just wanted to thank you all for coming out to the Rutledge last night. The band and I had a great time, and your support and friendship means the world to me.

Check out a review of the show at the link below. Thanks to David Pierce and the folks at Todays Country Magazine for the kind words.

God Bless-

Matt

Hello! Well, I know it's been forever since the last time I wrote...sorry. First of all, thank you so much to all of you out there who bought the Acoustic EP! It's a weird thing when you create something that raw and intimate and it goes out for better or worse to the world. Up to that point most of you had only heard songs I'd had up on my page that were fully produced. So I can definitely say I was a little nervous about what you guys would think. Anyways, I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate all the kind words of encouragement. It means more than you know!

This is probably a little premature since it's not December yet but oh my gosh...08' where have you gone?! Has this year not flown by? I swear January feels like it was a a week ago and now there's already Christmas Trees up at the mall. I feel like the older I get the faster years go by....seriously!

So, I've been in the studio the last couple weeks with the man, producer Garth Fundis. We cut a few tunes of mine in his studio Sound Emporium. Which is incredible(I'm going to post some pics soon)! Kenny Chesney, Taylor Swift, Brooks and Dunn, Allison Krauss have all cut albums there. I definitely think it's going to be the best stuff I've ever done. Can't wait for you guys to hear it!

I hope this finds you well and until next time

The new EP can be purchased now in the online store at http://stores. ebay. com/Matt-Jenkins-Online-Store

If you order by October 10, your CD will be shipped on October 11. Otherwise, allow 3-5 days for your order.

Here are the stories behind the songs:

WANT YOU BACK -
I'd heard this saying before and thought for a long time that it could be a really great country song. This was one of those songs that I knew I had to write perfectly or it wouldn't work. I wrote this with Tia Sillers and Clay Mills, and they really helped bring this idea to life.

GOING NOWHERE -
Sometimes when you jump into a relationship, you know from the start that it may not work out, but the risk is worth taking. In my mind, this whole song takes place on a front porch telling her "This might be a mistake, but why don't you make it with me." It's on a really old school throw back type of melody and it's definitely one of my favorites to sing.

BEFORE YOU'RE GONE -
I wrote this with one of my really good buddies, Josh Osborne. I'd had this really rhythmic phrasing that I couldn't get out of my head, and I tried to write something on it many times, but nothing ever seemed to work. I rarely write the music before I at least have some sort of concept of the song, but we had the whole melody mapped out before we ever started a lyric. We landed on a story of a guy pleading with this girl to drive really slow, take the long way through town so she can spend enough time to think about what she's doing...and maybe turn that car around.

SOME KIND OF SEXY-
I'd been carrying around this idea for probably six months. I was hanging out with Mark Selby at his house one-day tossing around ideas and Mark started playing this great groove. It fit perfectly and we wrote it in about an hour. It's basically the idea that all the little moments when she thinks she looks the worst...she looks the best. The times when she wouldn't want anyone in the world to see her are the sexiest to you.

BACK BY TONIGHT (Heaven) -
I think that since the beginning of time, the world has revolved around the guy trying to get the girl. I love this idea because I think it's such a universal concept. It's a kind of a simple lyric but to me there's such vulnerability to the melody. It kind of leaves you hanging at the end wondering what her answer will be, but I'm pretty sure she says yes.

BACK TO YOU-
This whole song sees the subject traveling around from town to town in search of answers to get this girl off his mind. To me it's kind of the realization that sometimes things come full circle and what you were looking forward was in front of you all along.

I'LL REMEMBER FOR YOU-
My grandpa has Alzheimer's and has really started to show the effects of it these last couple years. I have so many memories of him growing up, and I really wanted to write a song to tell him that I'll always remember even when he can't. I sat down with Buddy Owens and Galen Griffin and shared this story with them. We wrote this idea over a couple of sessions and I'm so thankful to those guys for helping me put into words something that's so real for me.

QUARTER OF A CENTURY-
Turning 25 is a really weird thing, or at least it was for me. It's kind of like every year before this one was just a dress rehearsal and all of the sudden I'm standing on stage, the curtains just opened and everyone's watching. I'm not really sure how thing's are going to play out the next few years but I'm pretty content with where I've been and where I'm at right now. This felt like such a fitting name for this EP because it's kind of a snap shot of me at 25.

Hello! Well after talking about for what seems like forever....i finally have new music coming out. I've always loved really raw, broken down intimate recordings. So I decided to record an EP with a few new tunes and a couple old ones just acoustically.

I'll be releasing "QUARTER OF A CENTURY - THE ACOUSTIC SESSIONS" at the beginning of Oct. I can't wait for you guys to hear some of the stuff. So be sure to check back!

I hope this finds you well and until next time!

You know the first time you hear a song that just kills you. You don't know what it is about the tune but you know you're going to push repeat to hear it over and over and over again. Well trust me this is one of those songs. Check out Rich Price's "Turn Off My Heart".
