We're in the process of sorting out a European tour to coincide with the release of our new LP in Spring 2010. The dates are up on our forthcoming gigs list and we're keen to hear from anyone who would like to organise us gigs in the Netherlands, France, Italy (especially in the north), Slovenia or the Czech Republic.

You can reach us via myspace or at our hotmail.com address - it's oipolloi_alba

- we're trying to get this booked fairly quickly so get in touch asap if you want us to play in your town! Thanks!

Ar Ceòl 's Ar Cànan

Na bi brònach, na bi gun dòchas
Oir tha sinn an seo 's tha sinn gad rocadh
A' rocadh gu cruaidh a h-uile latha
Ceòl punc Gàidhlig - chan eil dad nas fheàrr!

Seo ar ceòl - seo ar cànan
Tha i beò - chan eil i marbh
Tha sinn ga bruidhinn - chan eil sinn balbh
'S cha tèid sinn air falbh

A' rocadh bho Dhùn Eideann gu Beinn nam Faoghla
Seachd searbh sgìth de luchd nam beurla
Seo an còmhlan-ciùil a chuir sinn air dòigh
A' rocadh airson ceartais - Oi! Oi! Oi!

Seo ar ceòl - seo ar cànan
Tha i beò - chan eil i marbh
Tha sinn ga bruidhinn - chan eil sinn balbh
'S cha tèid sinn air falbh

Our Music and Our Language

Don't be downcast, don't feel hopeless
'Cos we're here to rock you
Rocking hard every day
Gaelic punk rock - there's nothing better!

This is our music
This is our language
It's alive
It ain't dead
We're speaking it
We're not dumb
And we're here to stay

Rocking from Edinburgh to Benbecula
We've had it up to here with English speaking monoglots
This is our band
Rocking for justice - oi oi oi!

This is our music
This is our language
It's alive
It ain't dead
We're speaking it
We're not dumb
And we're here to stay

Tha e an urra riut-sa - seas suas 's dèan strì!

Seas suas! Dèan sabaid!

Multinational corporations raping the earth
Greed driven monsters totally devoid of feeling
Daily extinction of plant and animal species
It's up to you - stand up and fight back!

Stand up! Fight back!

Ramalair Rùisgte

Cò an duine seo a' coiseachd air na rathaidean?
Cò an duine seo rùisgte air na sràidean?
Tha an ramalair rùisgte air na sràidean
Tha e a' ramaladh rùisgte air ar rathaidean

Chì thu a thòn, chì thu a bhod
A' cur uabhas air seann 's òg
Chì thu a thòn, chì thu a mhàs
Chì thu a chlachan - abair uabhas!
Anns a' ghrian, anns an uisge
Ag iarraidh saorsa a bhith rùisgte

Ramalamaid!

A' ramaladh sa ghrian agus anns an uisge
Chan eil e ag iarraidh càil ach saorsa a bhith rùisgte

An ramalair rùisgte leis a chasan goirt
A' nochdadh gu tur rùisgte anns a' chuairt

Naked Rambler

Who's that bloke walking down the road?
Who's that bloke naked on the street?
The naked rambler is on the streets
Rambling naked on our roads

You see his arse
You see his penis
Shocking young and old
You see his backside
You see his arse
You see his balls
Shock horror!
In the sun
In the rain
Demanding the freedom to be naked

Freedom to be naked!

Rambling in the sun and in the rain
All he wants is freedom to be naked
The naked rambler in his birthday suit
Rambling naked with the police in hot pursuit

You see his arse
You see his penis
Shocking young and old
You see his backside
You see his arse
You see his balls
Shock horror!
In the sun
In the rain
Demanding the freedom to be naked

Let's ramble!

(Gaelic with a few mistakes is better than the Gaelic language in the coffin
Gaelic with a few mistakes is better than the Gaelic language in the coffin)
The naked rambler with his sore feet
Turning up in court totally naked!

You see his arse
You see his penis
Shocking young and old
You see his backside
You see his arse
You see his balls
Shock horror!
In the sun
In the rain
Demanding the freedom to be naked

Ceud Mìle Fàilte

A' teicheadh bho chogadh 's taighean nan smàl
Mharbh iad do theaghlach ged nach d'rinn iad càil

A' tighinn gu Alba airson beatha ùr
A' tighinn gu Alba airson a bhith saor

Ceud Mìle Fàilte!

A' ruith bhon dùthaich far an robh thu ann ann am prìosan
Airson beachdan poiliteagach no fiù 's gun reusan

A' tighinn gu Alba airson beatha ùr
A' tighinn gu Alba airson a bhith saor

Ceud Mìle Fàilte!

Bataichean 's clogaidean aig ceithir anns a' mhadainn
Eagal air a' chlann agad gun tèid an spadadh
Nis tha sibh uile ann an slabhraidhean a' suidhe anns a'  bhan
Prìosanaich a-rithist air ais ann an campa

Fàilte gu Dungavel
Fàilte gu gràin-cinnidh
Fàilte dhan phrìosan
Ceud Mìle Fàilte!

One Hundred Thousand Welcomes

Fleeing from war and houses in flames
They murdered your family although they were innocent

Coming to Scotland for a new life
Coming to Scotland to be free

A hundred thousand welcomes
A hundred thousand welcomes

Fleeing from the country that imprisoned you
For your political beliefs or even for no reason at all

Coming to Scotland for a new life
Coming to Scotland to be free

A hundred thousand welcomes
A hundred thousand welcomes

Truncheons and riot helmets at 4am
Your children terrified that they are about to be slaughtered
Now you're all in handcuffs sitting in the van
Prisoners again back in a camp

Welcome to Dungavel
Welcome to racism
Welcome to prison
A hundred thousand welcomes

Là Na Sabaid

Calpachas - prothaid 's pian

Là Na Sabaid

Cogadh 's foirneart anns a h-uile àite
Ana-ceartas 's ceannairc na stàite
A bheil sinn cho adhartach 's a tha sinn a' creidsinn?
Tha an t-àm ann an siostam a thrèigsinn
Cuimhnich na seann dòighean
Cuimhnich dòighean nan tùsanach
Cuimhnich cumhachd na talmhainn
Cuimhnich cumhachd nan Tursachan!

Là Na Sabaid!

The Day Of Fighting

Capitalism: profit and pain
World leaders who are totally insane
War and famine on last night's TV
Bush and Bliar and the PNAC

Injustice in Palestine
Osama? Zarqawi? Emmanuel Goldstein
AmericaIsrael and their weapons of mass destruction
Guantanamo Bay - who are the real terrorists?

War and violence the world over
Injustice and state terrorism
Are we really so advanced as we like to think?
It's time to kiss the system goodbye
Remember the old ways
Remember the indigenous ways
Remember the Earthpower
Remember the power of the stones!

Daibhidh Sneddon

Tha cuimhne agam ort nuair a bha thu òg
Tha cuimhne agam ort nuair ann an '88
Bha thu nad phunc, bha thu coma mu fhasan
Botanann air do chasan
Bha do bheatha cruaidh, bha e goirt
A h-uile duine a' magadh ort
Ach chum thu a' dol 's bha thu ceart
Seadh, a bhlaich - abair neart
Daibhidh Sneddon air an t-sràid
An-còmhnaidh ag èisteachd ri Discharge
A' cluich ann an còmhlan air feadh na dùthcha
Ag òl leann an àite uisge
A' sabaid an agaidh an siostam seo
Cha bhi e a' gèilleadh fhad's a tha e beò
Tha e cho punc 's a 's urrainn dhut a bhith
An agaidh ana-ceartais tha e fhathast a' strì

Daibhidh Sneddon
Daibhidh Sneddon
Daibhidh Sneddon
Oi!

Ann an còmhlan poiliteagach 's tusa a bha glic
A' bruidhinn mu Shantorum uabhasach tric
A' laimhseacheadh na talmhainn le spèis
A' sabaid an agaidh amadain na làimh dheis
A' falbh air turas ann an bhan
Uilbheist nan drumaichean!
A' falbh air turas ri iomadh ploigh
Daibhidh Sneddon Oi! Oi! Oi!

Daibhidh Sneddon
Daibhidh Sneddon
Daibhidh Sneddon
Oi!

Strì Nach Eil Deiseil

Daibhidh Sneddon Mac an Tàilleir!

David Sneddon

I remember you when you were young
I remember you back in '88
You were a punk and you didn't give a fuck about fashion
Boots on your feet
Your life was hard
Everyone mocking you
But you stayed strong and you were right
That's right lad - such strength!
Davy Sneddon on the street
Always listening to Discharge
Playing in a band all over the country
Drinking beer instead of water
Fighting against this system
He'll never surrender as long as he lives
He's as punk as punk can be
He's still fighting against injustice

Davy Sneddon
Davy Sneddon
Davy Sneddon
Oi!

In a political band, you were no fool
Frequently discussing Santorum
Treating the Earth with respect
Fighting against right wing arseholes
Off on tour in the van
Monster of the drumkit!
Cruising around on tour having a laugh
Davy Sneddon - Oi! Oi! Oi!

Davy Sneddon
Davy Sneddon
Davy Sneddon
Oi!

A fight that isn't over
A fight that isn't over

Davy Sneddon!

Sgrùdadh 2323

Thàinig iad à fada air falbh

Examination 2323

They came from far away
From another world they came to Earth

Abducting you against your will
You're imprisoned by alien creatures

"Scientist"? Don't make me fucking sick
This time you're the victim

How do you fucking like it now?
Experiment 2323

Bastard in a white coat
You experimented on countless animals
But now you're imprisoned on their vessel

Bastard in a white coat
Now YOU're the one on the table
And they're experimenting on YOU

How do you fucking like it now?
Experiment 2323

"Insert the laser probe into his anus and commence the vivisection"

Oi! Oi!

How do you fucking like it now?
How do you fucking like it now?

War criminals who you will never see in court
Pollution and slavery, racism and murder

Death to the system!

The only flag we need is black and red
The black and red flag! The black and red flag!

Fear a' Bhàta

'S tric mi sealltainn bhon chnoc as àirde
Feuch am faic mi fear a' bhàta
An tig thu an-diugh no an tig thu a-màireach?
'S mura tig thu idir gur truagh a tha mi
Tha mo chridhe-sa briste, brùite
'S tric na deòir a' ruith o'm shùilean
An tig thu a-nochd no am bi mo dhùil riut?
No an dùin mi an doras le osna thùrsaich?

Fhir a' bhàta 's na ho ro eile
Fhir a' bhàta 's na ho ro eile
Fhir a' bhàta 's na ho ro eile
Mo shoraidh slan leat, gach àit' an tèid thu

Tha mo chridhe-sa briste, brùite
'S tric na deòir a' ruith o'm shùilean
An tig thu a-nochd no am bi mo dhùil riut?
No an dùin mi an doras le osna thùrsaich?
'S tric mi faighneachd de luchd nam bàta
Am fac' iad thu no a bheil thu sàbhailt
Ach 's ann a tha gach aon dhiubh gràitinn
Gur gòrach mise ma thug mi gràdh dhut

Fhir a' bhàta 's na ho ro eile
Fhir a' bhàta 's na ho ro eile
Fhir a' bhàta 's na ho ro eile
Mo shoraidh slan leat, gach àit' an tèid thu

Fhir a' bhàta!

The Boatman (Traditional - we've punked it up somewhat!)

Often I look from the highest hill
Trying to see the boatman
Will you come today or will you come tomorrow?
And if you don't come at all I will be forlorn
My heart is broken and bruised
Often the tears fall from my eyes
Will you come tonight or will I be expecting you?
Or will I close the door with a miserable sigh?

O boatman 's na ho ro eile
O boatman 's na ho ro eile
O boatman 's na ho ro eile
My blessing upon you wherever you may go

My heart is broken and bruised
Often the tears fall from my eyes
Will you come tonight or will I be expecting you?
Or will I close the door with a miserable sigh?
Often I ask from the other boatmen
If they saw you or if you are safe
But each one of them says
That I was foolish to love you

Latha cho dorch sa chunnaic mi riamh
Tancaichean air na sràidean
Cuirp air an rathaidean
Taing gu na Stàitean Aonaichte

Bhàsaich Allende 's e fhathast a' strì
Mharbh iad saorsa 's deamocrasaidh
Chaidh saorsa a losgadh sìos
Air an aonamh latha deug
Taing gu na Stàitean Aonaichte

Na bruidhinn riumsa mu dheamocrasaidh
Na bruidhinn riumsa mu shaorsa 's sìth

Clann a chaill an athair
Clann a chaill am mathair
Taing gu na Stàitean Aonaichte

Na bruidhinn riumsa mu dheamocrasaidh
Na bruidhinn riumsa mu shaorsa 's sìth

Kissinger, Pinochet - càit a bheil an ceartas?
Eucoraich cogaidh
Cuimhnich an fheadhainn a bhàsaich
Cuimhnich an t-uabhas 's an spadadh

Mairead Thatcher agus Pinochet
A' gabhail strupag
Dà uilbheist
Nan creidsinn an ann crochadh
(Ach tha sinn nas fheàrr na sin)
Chanainn gum bu chòir an dithis aca
A bhith dannsadh air ceann ropa!

Cuimhnich na rinn iad ann an Nicaragua
'S na tha iad ag iarraidh do Venezuela
Na rinn iad anns a' Chongo
Iran 's a' Ghreig - 's a-màireach?

Mallachd air na Stàitean Aonaichte!

1973
A day as dark as ever I saw
Tanks on the streets
People gunned down in the roads

Thanks to the United States

Allende died in struggle
They murdered freedom and democracy
Freedom was shot down on the 11th

Thanks to the United States

Don't talk to me
About "democracy"
Don't talk to me
About "freedom and peace"

Children who lost their mother
Children who lost their father

Thanks to the United States

Don't talk to me
About "democracy"
Don't talk to me
About "freedom and peace"

Kissinger, Pinochet
Where is the justice?
War criminals

Remember those who died
Remember the horror and the slaughter
Remember those who died
Remember the horror and the slaughter

Margaret Thatcher and Pinochet
Having a nice cup of tea together
Two monsters
If I believed in hanging
(But we're better than that)
I'd say that the two of them should be dancing on the end of a rope

Remember what they did to Nicaragua
And what they'd like to do to Venezuela
What they did in the Congo
Iran, Greece - and tomorrow?

FUCK THE USA

Don't talk to me
About "democracy"
Don't talk to me
About "freedom and peace"

SS Politician

Air a' bhàta: storas tasgaidh
Uisge-beatha saor 's an asgaidh

As a' mhuir thàinig beartas
Ach bhon riaghaltas abair ceartas
Daoine bochda air an cur dhan phrìosan

Whisky free for the taking

But from the government what "justice"
Poor people imprisoned
For the sake of the bevvy on the Politician

Coin-chaorach 's Madaidhean-allaidh

Bha dùthaich ann uair mar Nirribhidh
Beanntan 's coilltean 's madaidhean-allaidh
Ach thuit iad fo smachd nan coigreach
'S thàinig na caoraich 's obair nan con-chaorach
Rinneadh sgrios air feadh na dùthcha
Gheàrr iad na craobhan 's bha truilleadh anns an uisge
Aite-cluich do dhaoine beartach
Basgaid-sgudail 'son sgudal niuclasach
Fàsach uaine far a bheil na craobhan gann
Ach tha deagh fhios agaibh gu bheil dòigh eile ann

Craobhan a' fàs eadar na beanntan
Madaidhean-allaidh a' ruith anns na gleanntan

Cuirtear craobhan - o ho ro allaidh!
Thoireamaid air ais am madadh-allaidh
Bidh coimhearsnachdan seasmhach am measg nan coilltean
'S Gàidhlig aig an fheadhainn anns na sgoiltean

Craobhan a' fàs eadar na beanntan
Madaidhean-allaidh a' ruith anns na gleanntan

Bha bruadar agam 's mi nam chadal a-raoir.
Chunnaic mi Gaidhealtachd na h-Alba san àm ri teachd.
Bha coimhearsnachdan beaga seasmhach sgapte air feadh na dùthcha.
Bha na daoine saor 's cumhachd nan làmhan fhèin.
Bha iad a' bruidhinn na Gàidhlig 's iad ag obair anns na coilltean.
Chunnaic mi craobhan a' fàs eadar na beanntan
agus chunnaic mi madaidhean-allaidh anns na gleantann.

Madaidhean-allaidh anns na gleanntan!

Sheepdogs and Wolves

There was once a country like Norway
With mountains and forests and wolves
But it fell under the control of others
The sheep came and the work of sheepdogs
They laid waste to the whole country
They felled the trees
And polluted the water
A playground for the rich
A dustbin for nuclear waste
A green desert with scarcely a tree to be found
But you know there is another way

Trees growing between the mountains
Wolves in the glens

Let trees be planted - o ho ro allaidh!
Let's reintroduce the wolf
There will be sustainable communities amidst the forests
And the kids will speak Gaelic

Trees growing between the mountains
Wolves in the glens

"I had a dream as I slept last night. I saw the Highlands of Scotland in times to come. I saw small-scale sustainable communities spread all over the country. Power was in the hands of the people themselves. They were talking Gaelic as they worked in the woods. I saw trees growing between the mountains and I saw wolves in the glens"

Wolves in the glens
Wolves in the glens

Here are also a couple of translations for songs from our split mini-LP with Nikmat Olalim. The first one also appears on the Gaelic punk 7" compilation on Problem Records:-

Deiseil 's Deonach

(Ready and Willing)

Come on! Let's rock!

Open your eyes and see the town
Destroyed houses, streets of blood
Demolished houses, they didn't get out
Old people crushed to death

A people in desperation, help is needed
We'll send them support from far away
International solidarity!

We're ready
We're willing
We're ready
Ready and willing, ready and willing!

Dir Yassin, Baruch Goldstein
This is the history of Palestine
Demolished houses,homeless family
Sabra and Shatila - slaughterhouses

A people in desperation, help is needed
We'll send them support from far away
International solidarity!

Justice for Palestine!
Freedom for Palestine!

We're ready
We're willing
We're ready
Ready and willing, ready and willing today!

And here's the second one from the split mini-LP with Nikmat Olalim:-

Saorsa Do Vanunu

NEWS IN BRIEF

We're taking a wee break from gigging over the coming months so there won't be any more gigs after our Samhainn one at the 1in12 Club until after Spring Equinox 2009.

We'll still be working on material for a new LP over the winter though and it's more than half written already. Oigridh is also gonna be working on stuff with his other band VACUNAUT so watch out for them and Ruairidh is going to be touring with Helsinki-based DIY anarchopunk outfit KANSALAISTOTTELEMATTOMUUS while Olssen's going to be doing some prog rock DJing and Tongs has some other musical projects too - so we're all keeping busy.

Lastly, afraid to say that there are no plans for any US tour in the foreseeable future. Thanks for all the nice comments about us coming stateside but it doesn't look like happening any time soon - Canada on the other hand is another story and we'd be very happy to hear from anyone who thinks they could help with bringing us over.

News at 16/9/08

If you're in Germany you might be in interested in a feature on sexism and homophobia etc within the punk scene that we recently contributed to for German TV channel ARTE's "Tracks" programme to be broadcast this Friday. Our interview is in English but for those of you who speak German here's what the programme's own website says about the feature:-

Stand like a man

FRIEND REQUESTS

We have a backlog of over 300 of these so please be patient, we'll get to you in the end! Once again though no racist, misogynist, neo-fascist idiots need apply. Naturally mention of the magic words "Skrewdriver" or "RAC" anywhere in your musical taste list will guarantee a swift denial.

NEWS AT 1st SEPTEMBER 07:-
RECENT GIGS have been great! Although some arsehole over-zealous immigration officer refused The Argies entry for their UK tour last month, telling them "People like you are not welcome in Great (sic) Britain" we still played the Edinburgh gig along with Critikill who were great and a good time was had by all. The money raised paid for the generator and fuel for the previous weekend's Island of Punk festival on Cramond island which once again was totally classic. There are some photos on the Island of Punk myspace and we hope to have some video of our set up here soon. It was great to see so many people there although as per usual we could have used a bit more help carrying the gear across the causeway - that generator is fucking heavy! Total respect to everyone who did help with gear but there's still too many folk who seem happy enough to just come and drink and walk past those of us humping heavy speaker cabs etc without lifting a finger to help - DIY punk is about DIY for everyone not just consuming and letting other people do the hard work. If you can't even share the labour at a simple punk fest then excuse us if we can't take your talk of anarchist society seriously. OK rant over - and it only applied to a few numpties anyway - loads of folk were really helpful so nice one - respect! See you all again next year!

BERNE ANTI-FASCIST FESTIVAL was "interesting" and a bit of a short gig for us as we only got to play seven songs before the concert space had to be cleared for safety reasons. We'd like to thank the organisers again for the smooth way they handled the evacuation of the hall after the bomb was discovered and also the audience for the calm way they reacted without panic. For those who don't know already, a firebomb timed to go off in the middle of our set was discovered and removed from the hall at the last minute. No sooner had it been taken outside than it exploded in a 20 foot fireball - thanks to the alertness and prompt action of the organisers nobody was hurt. Had it not been noticed in time though we would have been looking at numerous casualties. Needless to say the police have been less than helpful but the organisers are checking through photos and concert footage to see if whoever planted the device can be identified. Also needless to say, we think we can speak for everyone there to say that far from putting anyone off, this will only increase all of our Anti-Fascist activities - NO PASARAN! SMASH FASCISM!

On a lighter note our trip to the Lorient Inter-Celtic Festival was amazing and really good fun. We got to spend a good few days there enjoying Breton hospitality (and powerful cider) and played a sell out show with excellent Breton language punk band Les Ramoneurs de Menhirs. The gig was recorded for a split live release to be out next year. We're also in the process of organising some joint gigs here in Scotland timed to coincide with Glasgow's money making commercial "celtic" festival "Celtic Connections". This festival is all about profit and much of it has precious little connection with anything Celtic at all so we thought we'd organise some real "Celtic connection" at the same time for those who are genuinely into supporting new Celtic music in the Celtic languages. We're sad to say that this apparently doesn't seem to apply to the official Celtic Connections festival as they didn't even deign to reply to Tim from Mill a h-Uile Rud (another Scottish Gaelic punk band) when he wrote to them about playing. There is no excuse for that kind of rudeness. It is sad to see though that there does seem to be a very strange attitude amongst some of those involved in traditional and Gaelic music in Scotland to those of us playing and writing new Gaelic music. Some of the ignorant comments on internet fora are pretty pathetic and a lot of folk seem unable to grasp that it is not a case of "either" traditional music "or" new music. Personally, although we do punk stuff, we're all in favour of traditional stuff as well - we even put some on our last CD to introduce new people to some beautiful old Gaelic song - we just believe that for the language and culture to be healthy we should have a wide range of music out there - not just songs written by people who died a hundred years (or more) ago. We're all for more power to everyone out there playing and singing traditional stuff - it would just be nice if more of them would reciprocate! On that note it was particularly saddening that neither ourselves nor anyone from Mill a h-Uile Rud, Là Luain or Nad Aislingean (other bands who sing new stuff in Gaelic) received invitations to the recent Gaelic music conferences. When the organisers were questioned about why this was, one erstwhile leading light of the Gaelic music scene apparently replied "They wouldn't be interested" - well, sorry pal, but your telepathic skills are obviously not what they used to be as, on the contrary, we are extremely interested in contributing to the debate and working to improve the Gaelic music scene. It goes without saying of course that, with or without support from the Gaelic music establishment, we will continue to push for more new Gaelic music - watch out for the new LP!

The OI POLLOI DVD is nearing completion bit by bit and should be out early next year featuring stuff shot in Edinburgh during the recording of the "Ar Ceòl, Ar Cànan, Ar-@-mach" CD and the subsequent 5 week Euro tour on its release. Again watch out for this but, as with the new LP (we're writing new songs at the moment), don't hold your breath!

OUR TRIP TO THE CZECH REPUBLIC was amazing too - thanks to everyone who we met and who helped us out over there - particulary the Fluff Fest folk - check the footage on You Tube and myspace TV - and watch out for us when we're back in Praha in December!

We're very pleased to report that our old drummer/guitarist Brian Tipa has made the Oi Polloi tour rockumentary that he made about the band in 1994 available on Youtube. Just do a Youtube search for Oi Polloi and you'll see it's on there in four parts. Featuring protest footage from Scotland as well as live material and stuff shot on the road during various 1994 tours, the 37 minute "Global Dissent" is well worth a look - enjoy!

We shot quite a bit of footage on our recent Eire/Alba Gaelic tour too so that should eventually make it to another short tour film that we'll get up on the web as well so look out for that in a few months once we get some time to edit it. Thanks again to Iomairt Chaluim Chille for the financial support that made the tour possible.

Also for anyone who missed the Island of Punk Festival in Edinburgh last summer there's now a one minute clip of us playing there on the net that you can see here:- http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=509892388819016117&q=oi polloi&h - enjoy! It was brilliant day by the way - respect to everyone who helped carry gear out to the island and back and to all those who helped clear up afterwards - DIY punk in action.

Tha an CD sgoinneil "Gaidhlig na Lasair" a-mach mu dheireadh thall! Sa chruinneachadh seo gheibh thu 15 orain ura agus tha a h-uile cail sa Ghaidhlig! Airson barrachd fiosrachaidh faic:- www.myspace.com/problemrecordsuk

The excellent 15 track Gaelic punk/alternative compilation CD "Gaidhlig na Lasair" is still available on Fife label Problem Records. Apart from raging, brutal thrash from Atomgevitter it also has melodic punk from Mill a h-Uile Rud, a couple of beautiful tracks from Nad Aislingean (whose vocalist Anna Roc guested on our last CD) as well as a few tracks from ourselves - including the title track from our hard to find "Carson?" 7" and the extended "Ceilidh Mix" of "SS Politician". See the web address above for more info. Ceannaich e! Tha e sgoinneil!

3 NEW SONGS RECORDED FOR BBC SESSION NOW ONLINE

If you're curious to hear the new stuff we're working on then you may want to have a listen to a radio session we did for the BBC in Glasgow earlier this year. While on tour with excellent Breton punk band Les Ramoneurs de Menhirs we recorded a session for the BBC radio programme Rapal and you can now hear the three new tracks we did on the programme's website at:-

http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/alba/radio/rapal/sessions/oi_polloi.shtml

The tracks are (at the time of writing) slightly mis-labelled on the Rapal site. The titles should read:-

Tha Sinn Air Ais
Òigridh Air Na Sràidean
Na Gèill 's Tu Beò

They're a bit rough and ready as we recorded live and had to be at the studio at 8 in the morning after a hard night's partying but that's punk rock - enjoy - or should we say ENJOI!

The Les Ramoneurs de Menhirs session is also very much worth a listen by the way and you can check it out on the same site. Both Les Ramoneurs and ourselves were also featured in the last programme of the last series of Rapal TBh which goes out at 6.45pm on Thursday evenings on BBC2. Our gig with Na Gathan in Glasgow was filmed for the programme and the feature can also still be seen on the BBC Alba Rapal website. Once again, don't worry if you can't understand Gaelic - the programme is subtitled in English.

NEWS AT 25/9/07:-
If the stuff from our gig we did earlier this year in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis didn't end up on the cutting room floor then you should be able to see us in Thursday's edition of Gaelic arts programme "Ealtainn" that viewers in Scotland can catch on BBC2 on Thursday at 7.30pm - more info below in the old news section - and don't worry, if you don't speak Gaelic, the programme is subtitled in English.

OLDER NEWS
Well, we've had plenty going on since the last time we posted any blog stuff on here. The major thing being that, after 6 years of sterling service in the band, bassist Calum finally decided to leave the UK and move to live and work in Vietnam - strangely enough he doesn't seem to be missing the wind and rain and the 4 million plus surveillance cameras here in "Great" Britain but he IS looking to rock so if anyone in Nam reading this needs a bassist you know where to look!

Just before Calum left at the end of our Celtic tour of Scotland and Eire in March with La Luain and Gra Granna we're pleased to report that we finally got the "Ar Ceol, Ar Canan..." CD out on vinyl at long last. It's a collaboration between two French labels and comes as a picture disc with proper cover and lyric insert with English translations on one side - look out for it from all good distros and from us at gigs. Special thanks to Sonia (who did the cover artwork for Fuaim Catha) for the amazing Celtic knotwork piece that she did for one side of the disc - respect!

Although we only got the LPs for Calum's last gig which was in Edinburgh at the end of the tour, in a rare piece of good timing we actually got our new 7" EP "Mind the Bollocks" out in time for the beginning of the tour - amazing eh?! Recorded at the same time as the Gaelic LP, this is a four-tracker (in English) on the theme of male sexual health issues. We've found for a long time that wimmin seem to be a lot more open and knowledgeable on wimmin's health issues and are producing a lot more material, certainly within the punk scene, on stuff about their own bodies and sex issues whereas we guys tend to be often pretty clueless. This is an attempt to cover some new (but very important in our opinion) issues that don't often seem to get raised by punk bands. The record is released by Finnish label Kamaset Levyt.

So, after all that, we're writing new material again with new bassist Tom. For those of you who don't know Tom from his other band Moniack, you may have already seen him play with us as he's been filling in for Calum on odd occasions for a couple of years now since the German tour with Israeli band Nikmat Olalim when Calum has had too many work committments to do all the gigs on a particular tour. As the Gaelic LP, the Campary Records split with Nikmat Olalim and the "Mind the Bollocks" 7" were all recorded at the studio where Tom was working as engineer he also has had our new stuff coming out of his ears for ages now so he's been part of the band for a while now really.

We wish his predecessor Calum all the best though and those of you in Scotland should be able to see him rocking on BBC2 Alba/Scotland in the autumn as we got filmed at our recent Stornoway gig for a BBC Gaelic documentary about a punk compilation LP from the Isle of Lewis released 25 years ago which should be screened as part of the Ealtainn series. Typically of course this was the worst gig we have played in years - a combination of illness, fatigue, inebriation and no audience (there was a grand total of ONE genuine punter!!) didn't exactly add up to a stunning performance - kind of funny in a way though - you've got to laugh.....

The Eire gigs on the tour were great though as were most of the other Scottish ones so thanks again to everyone who came, organised gigs, fed and put us up - and put up with us - respect!

We've also just got back from our quick Bealtainn tour playing in Berlin on Mayday Eve which was great - thanks to Gunnar and co from the anti-NATO, anti-capitalist crew - although the cops did attack the festival area just after we finished playing leading to 70 odd arrests. The London gig the next night was great too although once again the cops stuck their oar in with Active Slaughter unable to play as JJ was nicked in a dawn animal rights raid that morning. Thankfully he is now at liberty again and the gig raised over 500 quid for prisoner support.

The next day we were off to Vigo in Spain which was fun and then we had four gigs in Portugal with Violencia Violeta. The band were great and really cool folk, both them and their road crew - nice to see anarcho-feminist vegan cooks and anti-fascist skinhead bevvy-merchants all mixing together - respect! The gigs were brilliant too and we met so many cool people - especially in Coimbra - thanks again to everyone involved in the tour.

That's about it for just now except to apologise again to anyone who didn't get accepted as friends on here or hasn't had a reply to letters or e-mails - we're trying to get there but sometimes we get a bit snowed under - especially when we're on tour. For those who are interested we're also all involved in other musical projects which keep us busy - Ricky has been off touring playing country music with Austin from Prague-based crust outfit Guided Cradle, Cam has his fingers in numerous different pies from dance music to stuff too weird to describe, Ruairidh has been recording with Kansalaistottelemattomuus in Helsinki for the long awaited follow-up to their widely acclaimed "Fuck Their Fucking System" EP of a couple of years ago - and Tom has been working on the Moniack LP - so it's all system's go as usual - can't stop rocking, can't stop fighting the fucking system!

Ceart ma-tha, fàilte dhan "bhlog" againn! Seo a chiad turas a thug sinn sùil air Myspace agus bha e gu math inntinneach a bhith a' faicinn gu bheil ceithir làraich mu Oi Polloi ann mar tha! Co-dhiù, 's e goireas feumail a th' ann gun teagamh 's mar sin cuiridh sinn gu feum e. Tha tòrr dhaoine an-còmhnaidh a' faighneachd carson nach eil làrach-lìn ceart againn agus, leis an fhìrinn innse, tha sinn dìreach air a bhith ro thrang airson càil a dhèanamh gu ruige seo - ACH - tha sinn ag obair air fear an-dràsta agus tha sinn an dòchas gum bi e deiseil aig an aon àm 's a tha an clàr ùr againn a' tighinn a-mach an ath-bhliadhna. Nì an làrach seo a' chuis chun an uair sin ge-tà.

Naidheachdan: tha sinn ag obair gu cruaidh an-dràsta air na h-òrain 'son a' chlàr ùr againn agus tha sinn gu bhith a' clàradh ann an Dùn Eideann san Fhaoilleach. Bidh an clàr seo ann an Gàidhlig a-mhàin ach tha dà chlàr eile gu bhith a-mach an ath-bhliadhna cuideachd - clàr singilte le ceithir òrain ùra mu dheidhinn slàinte feise do dh'fhirinnich agus clàr eile a tha sibh a' faicinn san dealbh seo air an taobh chlì - seo clàr le còmhlan à Israel air a bheil Nikmat Olalim agus thig seo a-mach air Campary Records.

Taing: Mòran taing dhan a h-uile duine a bha aig na cuirmean-chiùil ann an Dùn Eideann aig a' cheann-seachdainn - bha e dìreach sgoinneil - tìors!

For those who don't speak Gaelic:- Thanx to everyone at the gigs in Edinburgh at the weekend - brilliant! Special thanks to the Riego Street crew for letting us play in your kitchen - DIY!!

For those who are curious we're recording our new LP in January in Edinburgh and there will be another couple of new records out next year too which are already recorded so watch out for them. One is a new 4 song 7inch and the other is a split 12" with Nikmat Olalim from Israel (see cover picture).

Plea for help: we're just starting to organise a big tour of continental Europe for May so anyone who can help with gigs on the continent please do get in touch - cheers.
