The updates:

- I lost my gallery, and many many people lost their homes, to the Tacoma Fire Department's decision to evict the TAC-25 basically in an afternoon, about a month ago.

-  I moved to Olympia WA.  It is pretty here and I am still surrounded by inspiration, with far more friends than I had in Tacoma (although I miss my Tacoma friends... and I miss Seattle folk even more now that I'm an hour further away).  I am building my place into a private art installation, still doing shows wherever and whenever, and still selling prints, skulls, originals, and doing commissioned work.  We have been looking at a storefront *not* connected to my living space.  We shall see.

- I will be in the LA area from 12/08-12/12.  I cashed out some FFM with United... there are some people I need to see, and I'll more than likely see Skinny Puppy at Club Nokia on the 10th (yes, the In Solvent See tour is worth seeing twice), but my primary intention is puttering around shops, clubs, and galleries for the usual reasons.  Anyone who wants to hook up should send me a private message; the 12/10 plan is the only one that's really set in stone and I could flex on that MAYBE for the right competing offer.

There's some newish stuff in my photo galleries, etc.

However, need to get back to work now.

Cheers,
Ann

New additions to the eternal Want/Trade List:

- plastic columns, of the kind one puts on wedding cakes, or something of a similar size/style

- moon and star shaped beads and charms (size, style basically irrelevant)

- again: Miniature fine China; cracked/mismatched OK. (1/12-1/4 scale; too much larger would prove problematic); would prefer actual porcelain to imitations. Tea cups, tea pots, vases, urns, bowls, plates... anything, really.

- "medieval" terrain as small as HO scale or so but as large as 1/6 scale. The less LEGOish the better.

- A hair or fur WIG, human sized (for a smallish head fine); pretty much anything except pigtails or a grandma wig. Longish straight hair i can style myself would be best but will take: dreadlocks, braids, anime cosplay styles... REAL OR SYNTHETIC HAIR BUT NO LATEX (ie, no mohawk or sculpted rubber wigs)! Yarn MAYBE OK.

What I can trade FOR these items:

- resin replica skulls/bones
- tarot readings
- discounts on future art commissions/purchases from Catalyst
- fancy treats (I can make a few things; just ask)

For those of you who do not keep track of us on some OTHER internetworking service:

Events at the Gallery & other events we are participating in: http://www.moritorium.com/hotel23.html

Art Calls for group shows and more: http://www.moritorium.com/upcoming/

My cutesier stuff available on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6247141 (or just search for username: Spiderwings)

And you can always rate my work on deviantArt: http://vektar.deviantart.com

***

We have a whole bunch of new designs that are not available on moritorium.com yet but have been posted to some of our blogs/clubs, but you should find an excuse to visit the gallery in person, especially now that we've set up our fabulous little shop!

I also have it on good authority that Jason Soles will finally have some brand new work in upcoming shows... look for announcements regarding that.

***

I'm buried alive in the upcoming shows, both here in our gallery and at others. I have one helluva want/trade list right now; if you have old crap (children's toys, cheesy souvenirs, medical parephenalia, models, old jewelry, etc) in your attic or basement gathering dust that you might want to trade for art or something, drop me a line to get the complete list.

Contributors will of course also get a formal thank you in the accompanying literature at the show where the work first appears.

And now, back to it. Goodnight, folks.

I am moving to Tacoma, the rumors are true.  I have found a renovated rehab clinic to put Catalyst Studios in for good ... well until the building is bulldozed for condos or something.  You know how it goes.

I think I will throw one last party in Seattle ... in November.

Anyone?  Anyone?

Also, I am in the 30x30 Forgotten Works Challenge again this year.  Hit me up if you want to see the art or get a crack at buying any of the unique and inexpensive lil paintings I am making for it this year.

This is going to get cross-posted a few places.

1.  Volunteer, Donation, and Labor Credit -  If you worked for Catalyst as a caster, mold maker, or sander; if you bought a piece of mine worth more than 100 dollars; if you hung out and talked to me at one of the studios while I was working; if you donated money or materials to the Arcanum efforts or to the studio; if you helped me come up with playlists; if you let me bounce ideas off you; and a number of other things in the past 3 years:  You are 98% likely to be eligible for a credit somewhere in the show materials for Arcanum.  Names will be credited as "[first initial].[surname]", ie "J. Soles" or "D. Smith" _unless you contact me personally and let me know how you want to be credited.  Within reason.

People who bailed on projects, walked with money or goods, or committed a physical or financial injury to any member of the Studio will receive no credit whatsoever.

2.  COLLECTORS - If you have previously purchased a painting or sculpture from me (my work, not Jason's) that is over $100 in total value that you would be willing to loan for a night or a month for the Retrospective Walk section of Arcanum, PLEASE EMAIL ME.  ann at mori torium  dot co m

If you know other prior collectors of my work, please make sure they see this.  Contact needs to be made ASAP.

Go here for info on Arcanum, showing in September at Mnemonic:

My old and new work seen the way it's supposed to be shown.  Not to be missed.

A lot of times, my productive, artistic side is a big, ornery housecat.  The side of me that knows I have bills to pay, who doesn't like to piss off my housemate, who doesn't like Food Bank dining, is the cat's weary human "owner"  (in the way that anyone can "own" a fucking cat, right?)

And right now, it's bath time for Mr. Cat.  It isn't going well.

TIME TO GO TO WORK
MRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOO
GOTTA SELL DOLLS
MRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOO!  FSSSSSSSSSSST!
QUIT RIPPING UP THE COUCH, BITCH!
FFSSSSSSHHHHHHTTTT!! RRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL!!

Yeah.  It's like that.  I imagine it'll only get worse as the month progresses.

Headed out to California in a few hours.

I know I'll have fun (I have a lot of friends in the Bay area) but I am a bit mixed about leaving in the middle of the Arcanum prep.  I'm on such a roll, breaking it seems like a mistake.

But the tickets were paid for a while ago and I have both paid and volunteer hours this weekend, so I must go.  I haven't exactly parted out my "extra" days (spending a week there, only working for the weekend).  Will probably spend at least one sequestered with my host(s), scheming and talking mad smack, since that tends to be good for my inspiration.

If  you are local and we have not yet discussed meeting or you have not pimped an event to me that I need to attend, get to it, please.

Contacting me here is just as good as anywhere.

Thanks!

Where I'll be ....

- Phoenix AZ, June 19-22.  Selling smutty cartoons
- San Francisco CA, July 17-23  Selling dolls for a few days, running about the rest.
- secret locations in August  - MUAHAHAHHA  (OK really, I'll mostly be at work)
- big show in Seattle for September :)  New paintings, frames, things.
- Portland OR, October 3-5 (HPL Fest, the last time several Catalyst items will be publicly available, so if you want anything Catalyst makes before then, CONTACT ME)

Big plans on the horizon, including a new joint project with Jason Soles (end of the world, huh?).

Will be needing people over the next few months who can work in leather, metal, and/or wood, who are reliable and dependable.  May also need some people for lighting, etc.  Email me or contact me through here; please have portfolio/references handy.  Also, I could use a couple of new models, but that's an ongoing issue.  :D

Woot.
