Arizonans Said YES For Marriage!

On November 4th, Arizonans said YES for Marriage by voting YES on Prop 102! Prop 102 passed by a resounding 56% to 44%.

Now, Prop 102's 20 simple and clear words that define marriage as the union of one man and one woman will be placed in the Arizona Constitution, the highest law in our state.

Arizona is now one of the 30 states where the people have spoken to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman in the state constitution. Today's results show how simple and timeless values can unite people from all ethnic, religious, and political backgrounds.

* Ordinarily, I give a pass to street signs. However, the anti-102 signs are just too bizarre to ignore.

Proposition 102 would amend the state constitution to say that marriage is only between a man and a woman. It's intended to preclude the Legislature or the courts sanctioning same-sex marriage.

Opponents want to keep the option of same-sex marriage being adopted without a public vote alive. But that's highly unlikely to be a successful opposition message.

So, their street signs say "keep politicians out of marriage" and "trust the people."

But those are arguments for Proposition 102. With it, politicians (and judges) couldn't change the definition of marriage. Only the people could.

CT RULING SHOWS WHY VOTING YES ON PROP 102 CRITICAL IN ARIZONA

The Connecticut Supreme Court today overturned that state's law defining marriage only as the union of one man and one woman.  Connecticut now joins Massachusetts and California on the list of states that have had judges by a one-vote margin redefine marriage for the entire state.

Yes on Prop 102 spokesman, Kelly Molique, said the CT decision shows the importance of passing the marriage amendment in Arizona this November.  "The Connecticut ruling further illustrates why Arizona needs Proposition 102's 20 simple and clear words added to the Arizona Constitution," Molique said.  "As the Connecticut ruling shows, it's easy for activist judges and politicians to overturn existing marriage laws.  The only way to prevent that from happening is to amend the constitution by passing Prop 102."

Prop 102 reads:

"Only a union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in this state."

"By voting yes on Prop 102, Arizonans can decide the future of marriage rather than leave the definition vulnerable to redefinition by judges or politicians," said Molique.
