Okay, so I am really happy and bouncy right now. Why, you ask? Because I am listening to some awesome, awesome, somewhat cheesy 80s songs. I looooove "Alive and Kicking" by Simple Minds. I was also listening to "When I'm With You" by Sheriff, which my good friend Pesci sent to me because I'd been looking for it for a month and it wasn't on iTunes. I'll tell you why I love the 80s. First of all because of the cheesy synthesizer noises. Sometimes those keyboardists really nail it and the sounds are just gorgeous. AND the songwriting was superb back then! I'm listening to Berlin's "Take my Breath Away" now, and the bridge chord progression is exactly the kind of quality songwriting that I love. Plus they've got some pretty awesome synthesizer noises.

Yes this is what musicians do at 1am. Come home from the Hotel Cafe (Katy Perry is AWESOME) and then listen to cheesy 80s songs for an hour. Okay now it's on to "Life in a Northern Town" !!!

Technically this is unrelated to my music, but I wanted to highly recommend Al Gore's new documentary "An Inconvenient Truth." When everyone got mad at Ralph Nader over the 2000 election, I remember feeling like, "Ralph Nader didn't beat Al Gore. Al Gore beat Al Gore." Well, I can officially say that Al Gore is not beating Al Gore anymore. In this documentary, he is clearly following his passion, and as a result he has become a highly dynamic individual. Even if only to see the amazing transformation of Al Gore, go see this movie! You can also check out the movie's website at http://www.climatecrisis.net .

Hey there everyone! Just wanted to say how much fun I had on the Gilmore Girls shoot last month. The show will finally be airing tomorrow! Everyone on the shoot was so nice, and I got to meet Dan Palladino, who wrote the episode. He actually is going to be ON the episode, playing a snippet of a silly song he wrote. It goes "A beaver ate my thumb, a beaver ate my thumb." Very silly. I was also in a scene where the dialogue was "I don't like ultimatums." "Well I don't like Mondays, but they both come around eventually!" Hope that didn't give too much away....anyway it was a TRULY fun experience. Be sure to check out my pictures section to see pics of me on the shoot!

SO, as for upcoming shows in Los Angeles. Please pencil in February 15th....we'll get that confirmed within the next couple of days. We might be able to book something the week of Feb 6th as well, so stay tuned... Okay so kudos to Marko and Max for starting the Hotel Cafe, but JAYSUS I am spending a lot of time there! I played there last Tuesday, then I went to see friends play on Friday, Saturday, and Monday. And I'm going this Thursday and Friday too. It's a little out of control. I wish they kept the grill open longer, I often crave a quesadilla around 11pm.

I'm in San Francisco right now (well Palo Alto actually) visiting my friend Corinne for her birthday. I'm very lucky because Corinne put "Achtung Baby" on as the party's background music. But how does she expect me to carry on a conversation???

I just got home to my parents' house in Portland. I am always astounded by how completely quiet it is here. The trees are tall and there are lots of them. It's misty outside, not raining. Such a serene and meaningful place. A very different vibe from Los Angeles.
