Just yesterday rehearsed an Indonesian gamelan/hang drum/first nations drum and chant improvisation for the upcoming Indonesian benefit show with the Busy Island Gamelan Orchestra, Rob Hunter, Neil Golden and myself on drums.  I think the first nations drumming and chant together with Gamelan aspect is particularly interesting.  The hang is a new percussion instrument, tuned to play a diatonic scale and similar in sound to a steel drum. The interaction between all the players on this experimental improv was wonderful to be part of.  The Dec 6th perfomance should be quite a show!
