One of my songs, "All I Can Do" (from Wilshire District Music Presents - Miracle Mile), was recently featured on Breakdown FM Davey D's 25 Joints To Get You Thru The Day - Freedom Cometh.

If you aren't familiar with Davey D...
He's given more than 30 years of his life to Hip Hop Culture.
UC Berkley Graduate, Journalist, Hip Hop Historian, Pop Culture commentator, Owner of www.daveyd.com (one of the largest and oldest Hip Hop sites on the Worldwide Web), Program Director for Breakdown FM (a long-standing online radio show), co-founder of the Bay Area Hip Hop Coalition and member of the Bay Area Black Journalist's Association. He's been featured on BET, CNN, Fox News, BBC Radio, ABC's Nightline, VH1, and The Tavis Smiley Show. His works have been featured in the Washington Post, The New York Times, USA Today, London's Guardian Magazine, Rollingstone Magazine, Vibe Magazine, and The Source Magazine. He was profiled by The Source as one of the 10 Most Influential People in the country as it relates to Hip Hop and politics.

So here's the funny story about all of this...
Some kinda full circle!
I began my writing career on a website called MrBlunt.com. Not recorded songs y'all. I'm talking straight text. Typed out rhymes! Shouts out to my FIRST crew WorldCoast (peace Kwote)!!!

At the time Davey D was a contributing writer to the site. This was somewhere in the area of 1997-1998.

11-12 years later I find myself in the company of other dope artists on 25 joints. God is truly good y'all. He's put me in places I never could've dreamed or imagined. For that I give thanks. I also give thanks for you all who support and ride with me. Love y'all!!!

So in case you haven't gotten wind of the quickly-becoming-viral account of what happened at our beloved Power & White...err...Light District early this morning...

DJ Jazzy Jeff, slated to spin at KC Live, was cut off DURING his set for playing Hip Hop!
He was then politely escorted out by Kansas City's finest.
The hooded...err...masked Cordish avengers ride again!

As if I needed another reason never to go there!!!
I've got one now... I swore off that place something like a year ago and haven't patronized any of it since (save 1 trip to the Mainstreet AMC Theatre).

I've already had my personal experience with P&L politics.
This was long on it's way down the pipeline. And I suspect this won't be the last instance of "social distancing" that happens there.

I tend not to wish failure upon anyone, but if there was ever anyone worthy of my wishes...It's the P&L district.

Thank God we agreed to pickup the tab on that eyesore! YAY!

"WhoIzzy" from my album Corner Speech was featured on WNYU 89.1 FM's Halftime Show (New York University radio).
 
The 11-year show is world-famous and is one of THE best radio shows in all of NYC!!!
