Hey all. My apologies for not writing, or keeping you updated for awhile... Something big was on the horizon and I had to focus on it, but alas it was swallowed up by the monster that is show biz. Maybe I'll get to writing of it later on, but until then, we continue in our multi-media assault and quest for legitimacy amoung the giants. Even though, in attempting to cement my spot I have to lay it all on the line myself and that ground work is what truly matters, I am fortunate to have a great team of talented friends behind me to collaborate with when I can focus on independant things. A lot is in the works, and the gears are always turning... Contending in the bigger picture is the challenge, yet I am up for it, because the alternative is never trying, and that is the true loss. Anyway, here are some red letter days on our end.

On Wednesday, May 28th, my friend entertainer Quincy Brisco makes his triumphant return, and third appearance, on The Toucher and Rich Show on WBCN 104.1 FM Boston. He will have his own segment at 4:30PM EST, which myself and uber-producer Lawrence Hollie are helping him organize. If you are not in the Massachusetts area, visit http://www.WBCN.com and listen to the live stream. Big thanks go to Quincy's family, WBCN management and the Toucher and Rich staff for the opportunity.

Attempting to live the dream.

Here is an early write-up for our NEW live event (stay tuned to MikeOCast.blogspot.com for updates on this and more)

...what good can it possibly serve? Esspecially now that MySpace has added their own "video" section, and they seem to mainly promote large films or indies with studio backing. I guess folks are blocking the different "specialty" profiles because they feel they are being added to nothing more than a promotional campaign....Argh.
To use the "screenings" listings to promote our video and multimedia events seemed cool...To let you know I do stuff in TV/video... But overall I curse the day I rechristened my myspace page to film. Much like so many other things, it seemed like a good idea at the time, when the potential was there, when things were fresh... Now with a comedy profile, you can even edit your URL whenever. All profiles should be the same, or if there are to be these different bells and whistle/promo perks, let them be easily selectable from one profile. Sheesh. To start over seems too daunting...No more converting? If this space be no good, I shall use it...for evil. Blahhahahahaha. ;)

This thing is brand new... I dont know what this is called yet, or if it's done, but it had to get out there. To set the scene a bit, it's 3 Am and I am alone, rambling in a dimly lit studio, clouded by sleepiness...
This will be used in the newest TV episode of Random Acts. Check my page for times! This is the end of the episode - we shot and edited it Saturday and it airing this week!

Energy is the anti-ignorance for me.

I can no longer get excited over things that are intrinsically not exciting. No amount of money or other incentive can stir me to want to write of things that already exist... "take five reports of X and report on it from that information" or something, "with no opinion or wordsmithing added" Fuck. Why bother writing something when it already exists? I know it's supposed to test how you can write, but fuck I know I can write already. The fact that I could do it is no reason to actually do it. I come away from it knowing only that I can willfully become subordinate to the point that other, better things are left undone...Things that have a heart to them. And in turn, I am exhausted, just to get a "good boy." People walk outta here with their heads down...That sucks. I know what that feels like, and I know why they do it. I refuse to do that regularly anymore. I come here less for the classes now, more for the sociological side - to get to hang 'round interesting folks and talk to girls...to get laughs or something. The only way I think we can really learn about ourselves is by corresponding with each other, armed with an open mind. I cannot stand the teachers who insist can preaching rather than teaching through discourse with the class - we are not an audience who has paid to attend your spoken word session. And if that is the case, I will beat them at their own game... Death via words is long and more painful than anything else I can think of.

I am looking for a regular co-host for my live audio talk show - if i can get away with calling it a show.
I taped some monolouges for "Random Acts" - my buddy Larry's cable access show, and if you are in the Boston area (check http://www.myspace.com/mikeotoole for times and channels) you can watch the new one we just finished editing on Saturday, airing this week! More projects are in the works as well.
I'll put these journal entries on my myspace page for the lazy readers who do not bother to come and check it out via livejournal anymore.

YIPPEEEEEE.
