We received some great write-ups for tour.... check them out...

Philadelphia Weekly:
3/22/09

Telltale’s ear-splitting washes of guitar feedback, deadpan chants and ominous droning wastelands may remind you of early Sonic Youth or My Bloody Valentine. That’s a change from the garage pop that guitarist Eric Gilstrap and bassist Laurie Ruroden made in their old band, Elevator Action,
but very much in line with Orgone Accumulator, drummer Lauren Andino’s
previous gig. Together, and now based out of Brooklyn, the three have
been making increasingly accomplished live recordings, including a
brooding, claustrophobic reading of Fad Gadget’s first single, “Back to
Nature.” Deli
magazine picked Telltale as its most buzz-worthy punk/noise band last
year. And even though you’ve likely never heard of them, why not catch
them early? (Jennifer Kelly)

SECOND TIME AROUND: Last November, From the Land, which features Steven Walters, Brett Lee and Dave Robbins, debuted at Art Bar with a stunning set of exactingly-crafted post-punk. No hi-jinks, just music. In December former Orgone Accumulator bassist Lauren Andino played in Columbia for the first time (at Art Bar) with Telltale, the New York trio she plays drums in.Both From the Land and Telltale will play at Art Bar on Saturday, and both have new songs. Earlier this month, the deli magazine listed Telltale at No. 28 out of 300 New York City bands creating Web buzz.“It’s
a lot darker sonically than the other stuff,” Andino said of the music.
“There are more layers, that kind of wall of sound thing.“I go to bed with my ears ringing after practice.”Telltale has added a fourth member for the tour.As for From the Land, Walters suggested the instrumental fare could be even tighter.“And considering that time has passed and we’ve practiced it more, I imagine we’ll play the old material better,” he said. The show is at 10 p.m. Ex Norwegian, an active Florida pop band touring in support of its debut, “Standby, will open. Art Bar is at 1211 Park St. (803) 929-0198

And Telltale’s thick, reverb-soaked post-punk doesn’t so much blanket
you as it does envelop you, overpowering you with Sonic Youth-inspired
caterwauls and Jesus and Mary Chain-esque walls of sound. This will
destroy you, reader, and you will love every second of it. - P. Wall

telltale With former members of Elevator Action and Columbia, South Carolina’s sadly defunct Orgone Accumulator, Brooklyn’s Telltale showcases an intriguing mix of experimental no-wave, minimalist post-punk, and dark shoegaze. The result is akin to pre-Bad Moon Rising Sonic Youth, as Eric Gilstrap’s voice recalls Thurston Moore’s youthful, angst-ridden inflection when he punches up the tension. The music churns in a slow burn, awash in effects, but there’s an aggression lurking just beneath the surface that maintains an uneasy atmosphere. There’s also a healthy dose of reverb to help wash down all the gauzy noise. The Deli magazine has just listed Telltale at #28 out of 300 NYC bands creating “web buzz.” Pretty impressive. The trio is hitting the road this spring to spread the good word, hitting a handful of east coast cities. Dates and details on the poster below, but more information can be found on the band’s MySpace page.

SUNDAY, DEC. 28

Telltale Featuring Eric and Laurie, ex-Elevator Action, this NY-based trio has a firm ear toward slow-building shoegazer ethos where the guitars shiver and twirl and vocals float alongside. Setting aside their old band's power pop and garage rock, Telltale takes a more subtle and experimental approach and builds the songs one layer at a time, stitched with spacey, moody guitar effects. 'There's more room to breathe now'
By OTIS R. TAYLOR JR. - otaylor@thestate.com

It might sound snooty, but Lauren Andino, the former bassist of low-fi shoegazers Orgone Accumulator, has a point about New York and being a musician.

"There's so many people in bands," said Andino, who moved from Columbia to New York two years ago. "I was definitely looking for kind of the right people I wanted to play with."

She found them in Eric Gilstrap and Lori Ruroden of Elevator Action, a Charlotte band that had moved to New York for a change in scenery.

But Elevator Action's drummer wasn't able to make the move.

"We had been through a couple of drummers," Gilstrap said. "We knew in the back of our minds Elevator Action was changing."

Enter Andino, whose drumming brought a new style and, subsequently, a new name: Telltale.

"It's a band from scratch," she said. "It's not like I joined a band that's been playing for a while."

Telltale will play Saturday night at Art Bar with Twilight Armada.

Where Elevator Action was a loud garage band bent on breaking fists, faces and equipment, Telltale is more subdued and patient, though the eruptive spirit remains present.

It's a change Gilstrap and Ruroden embraced but sometimes struggle with.

"I get a little frustrated because I don't know how minimal I want to be," said Ruroden, Telltale's bassist. "I didn't know where to start.

"We didn't want to sound similar to Elevator Action."

Ruroden uses more distortion and effects pedals in Telltale.

"There's more room to breathe now," she said. "We slowed it down. I like that it's not even the same genre."

Gilstrap, the band's singer, was somewhat of a yelper in Elevator Action; now he's more charismatic.

"Telltale is a more a little bit about the art," he said.

After playing Art Bar, Telltale will perform at Snug Harbor in Charlotte Sunday night. Ruroden admitted to being "a little nervous but excited" about returning home.

Andino, who works at Mute Records, isn't one for wrecked nerves — or outsider appreciation.

"It's like the same with Orgone. We liked what we were doing and we were having fun," she said. "And we're doing the same now."

So what if people don't dig it?

"We're not going to write pop-punk and fix it," she said, more than a bit of snootiness leaking into the answer.

Sound Bites
Issue 21.52 :: 12/24/2008 - 12/30/2008

Telltale — Yes, Telltale hails from the hipster capital of Brooklyn, but local showgoers will recognize a familiar face: Ex-Orgone Accumulator bassist Lauren Andino mans the skins for the delay-soaked, reverb-drenched post-punk trio. Telltale's smart, off-kilter indie rock owes as much to The Stooges' street-walking punk and Sonic Youth's raucous teenage riot as it does to post-punk pioneers Wire and Mission of Burma, and there's a heaping helping of the sparse, spacious art-rock of The Jesus and Mary Chain thrown in for good measure (particularly in the glorious bridge of "Magazines"). Local elder punk statesmen F13 headline; smart-rock purveyors The Unawares and mellifluously loud indie rockers Twilight Armada round out this outstanding lineup. P. Wall
