"Crash" is not the best movie I have ever seen. It may no event be better than the now-overated "American Beauty" (though it might be). It has some classic terrible Brendan Fraser and average-at-best Sandra Bullock. Ludacris overdoes it as the knowledge-dropping thug. It is trite and obvious at times. It wasn't even completely unique in concept. It was, however--breathtaking. I can also say without question that about an hour into the film, there is a scene with Matt Dillon (YES a great scene with Matt Dillon!!) and Thandie Newton that at this point stands as the only scene I can point at and say--that's the best scene in a film-- ever. Fine that's a bit much, but I cried through it both times. It was beautiful.
